Chapter 151 Not A Knowles
Chris had been all smiles all day, Jessica could only wonder what was making him so happy. If only she knew that he had plans to meet his ex wife and try to persuade her into coming back into his life.
Sitting on the bed with Jeremy playing with his toys next to her, Chris barged into her bedroom and threw some papers her way.
She was caught off guard, earlier, she walked went into the kitchen to fetch some snacks for herself and her son, she had seen Chris smiling at his phone.
A phone call came in while he was drooling at only the heavens knew what and he seemed to excited as he picked it up, "have you prepared the flowers?" He questioned enthusiastically.
His smile immediately morphed into an upside down smile. "What the heck? I gave you this order ages ago! Why is it taking forever to prepare some god dmn flowers?!" He barked angrily.
After a short silence, he continued. "Final touches huh... Okay. She loves roses... I think. I mean what woman out there doesn't like roses? Anyway, just add the god dmn roses and have it delivered on time! I need it tomorrow."
Another short silence went by before he hung up the call, still frowning in anger. He began to murmur inaudibly to himself and Jessica went back into her bedroom with the snacks she had intended to take.
Sitting on her bed, she was lost in thoughts. Flowers? Did he want to buy her flowers? It wasn't surprising that he didn't know her preference. But was it really for her?
Who else could it be for if not for her? She was his wife after all. Did he mean to apologize to her for demanding a divorce in the first place?
Was Chris that considerate?
She was so confused to the extent that she didn't even remember that her son was on the bed next to her.
Jeremy helped himself to some snacks while playing with his toys. Just then, his father barged in.
Jessica stared in confusion at Chris, picking up the paper, she stared down at the words written on it, only to realize that it was a divorce notice.
Her eyes shot up at him, widening with fear. "What is this?! How can you do this to me? After everything I said to you, you still want to go ahead with this foolish divorce?"
"Call it foolish or whatever you want, I'm still going to divorce you. I am not interested in any nonsense you have to say to me, just sign the papers, take the alimony and disappear from my life completely. Not with my son though."
She shook her head. "I won't--" she was cut off by a thought, "the flowers... They can't possibly be for..." Climbing off the bed, she squinted her eyes, trying to see through her deceitful husband. "the flowers... Don't tell me the flowers are for Cara."
"Who else would they be for? You? Ha! Give me a break." He rolled his eyes frantically. "Submit it to my desk when you are done."
Without another word, he turned and walked away without looking back. Jessica was too distressed to chase after him.
Walking down the hallway, he felt since his divorce was being processed and Cara had finally granted him audience, he might as well tell his father his plans and hear what he had to say.
"Hey dad--" he walked into his father's bedroom without knocking. To his surprise, the room was empty but he could hear sounds coming from the bathroom.
He decided to go back and check on him later but something caught his eyes. The screen of his father's phone came alive with a text message and curiosity led him towards the bed where the phone laid.
Picking it up, he peeked towards the bathroom just to make sure his dad was not coming out yet.
Tapping the message, he read through the content quickly to avoid being caught. He had never expected what he saw inside the message.
He had even felt suspicious when he noticed that the message was from an anonymous number but then what the person had to say... And the fact that it was about him...
He could not believe his eyes. Immediately, he clicked on the first DNA test report and opened it, just like the message said, he and his father-- he and Mr Micheal Knowles shared no DNA at all. They were strangers living together for years.
The sounds from the bathroom suddenly stopped and the door to the bathroom creaked open. Chris immediately closed the message and dropped his father's phone like he was never with it in the first place.
Mr Micheal Knowles had taken a shower and wrapped his waist down with a white towel. He was taken back to see his son inside his room, standing close to his bed.
His brow arched as he asked. "What are you doing in here, Chris?"
"Oh me? Nothing. I just... I wanted to ask you for uhm... Advice on something but I have it figured out already so I was just about to leave when you walked out... I was going to sit down on the bed and wait but it's all good now so I don't need the advice anymore."
"Oh... And what was it about?"
"Oh you don't have to worry about that, it's all figured out. It was something work related. Get dressed." Without waiting for a response from his father, he dashed out of the room, trying to calm his nerves.
He was not a Knowles!
