Chapter 115 He Knows
Mr Marcus Armani was quiet, he had not heard her words loudly and didn't make any comment because he believed that she must have been talking to herself. He took a sip from his drink and placed it back on his table.
She cleared her throat and looked up to him. She was met by Mr Armani's gentle gaze. She felt hesitant to speak but she just had to ask the question on his mind. "Uhm... Mr Armani, I'm sorry to disturb you with such annoying problem but I have a question to ask you. I need an advice."
Mr Armani was focused. "It's no issue at all. What would you like my advice on?"
She sat up with her back straightened and cleared her throat once more. "I have this... friend and this friend of mine is having issues with her relationship. She recently got engaged to her boyfriend and they are really in love with each other. But recently, they had a fight about an issue that was born because of her fiancé's mother.
"Thier wedding is coming up and it has been a very hectic week for her. Hectic in the sense that he had not bothered to reach out to her after thier fight and she does not know what their future holds anymore that is if they even have a future together anymore. The fact that he has remained silent probably means that he does not want to continue with the marriage as planned anymore but she can't be so sure because he has not reached out at all.
"So it has really been bothering her and it really still is bothering her but she does not know what to do. She doesn't even need to ask, she already knows that it would be rude to ask him if they were still getting married or not. Right now, she is really confused and distressed so she came to me because she knows that I am also getting married soon and she believes that I will have the best advice for her but I actually don't know what to tell her or how to advise her so—"
She cut herself off and took a deep long breath. "I need your advice... sir."
Mr Marcus was silent for a second. He stared at her with knowing squinting eyes and thought to himself, 'so she said what I thought she said...'
Cara was also silent as she stared back at Mr Armani, wondering whether he had seen through her lie or he actually believed that she was seeking advice for her friend. If he knew she was talking about herself and Romeo, what would he say? Would he ask about the issue caused by his wife? Would she be able to tell him anything more than she had done?
Before she could say anything more, Mr Armani spoke up in a calm manner. "So first thing first, she wants to find out if the marriage is still on right?"
Cara nodded her head in response.
Mr Armani continued. "Well it actually depends on her whether it is still on or not."
She blinked, staring at him confusedly. "What does that mean?"
"It means that she is the one to decide whether she wants the marriage to happen or not and what I mean by that is it depends on the step she takes next that will determine whether or not they will get married." He explained to her.
"The steps she takes? What kinds of steps are you actually talking about?" Cara asked him. "Are there some things in particular that she actually needs to do to make him change his mind?"
"Yes." He replied softly. "If she decides to keep malice with him and let the silence drag more than it should then the marriage is bound to break even after the marriage. But if she decides to communicate with him about what hurt her and what she wants to settle then things are prone to work out."
Cara was silent but she understood what he was trying to tell her. She knew that she also had to communicate with him about her reasons for getting angry but would he even care to listen to her?
"Secondly," Mr Armani continued. "Whatever problem his mother caused should be discussed with her as well. That is his mother. She as the fiancée should make it clear to them whatever they are implying is not favorable for her and she would like to them to consider changing their decision."
Cara swallowed softly, how was she supposed to say her mind to a woman like Mrs Armani who was so influential and powerful? What if she decided to call off the wedding just because she chose to question her order?
"What if her mother in law is someone prominent and powerful and also with the power to call off the wedding because her future daughter in law was bold enough to go against the order she gave her?"
"She should not be intimidated into keeping her own mind to herself while she is suffering in silence. No one should ever have to suffer while smiling. It is wrong. If she wants to enjoy her marriage then she should be able to do the right thing with her mother and father in law even if it means standing up to them." Mr Armani explained to her.
Cara heaved a soft breath. She knew that he was right about that too but would he give those exact same points if he knew that she was talking about herself and him and his wife?
"What if her fiancé sees it as her being disrespectful and decides to end the marriage because he wants a woman that will succumb to his parents?" She asked him.
Mr Marcus Armani had a gentle smile on his face as he stared at her. She wondered what was going through his mind at the moment and why he was not saying anything. Her eyes widened with surprise when she heard the next words that left his mouth. "Romeo would never do that."
