Chapter 143 Earliest Preparation

Chapter 143: Earliest Preparation

Sylvia's pov.

I glared at him, memories of his horrible treatment of my father surfaced even before my father was branded a traitor. For some reason, Mr Wesley had a deep rooted hatred for my father.

Although at the time, he never countered, just countered my father only because he was Beta at the time. His disrespect always came as backhanded jabs, short disputes, debunking his suggestions most of the time.

Everyone of them had some vendetta with my father.

“Mr Wesley, this has nothing to do with covering for Sylvia,” Micheal corrected, “I'm only stating the truth, and what we have both seen and witnessed in Briseville.”

This seemed to shut them up, but I wondered for how long.

“Well go on and give us an explanation then and stop leaving us in the dark,” Sanders spoke up for the first time as he relaxed into his chair, “It would have been easier to get samples from that wolf, find out what's wrong with him, and why it's happening or something,” he said slowly, gaining him murmurs of approval.

More than anything, he wanted to pin this on me, technically it was my fault, but still.

Micheal didn't hesitate to respond, “We can get skin samples from the wolf he had attacked already, as well as blood samples, they are on their way to the lab as we speak.”

My brows shot up momentarily out of surprise, he had really done all that in the short space of time?

I wasn't the only one impressed, the council of old men were as well.

Sanders still couldn't believe it, “So you are saying, samples are already in the lab being tested, and you are in charge of it?”

Hmm, I guess he really didn't see this coming.

“Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying, Beta Sanders.”

Sanders hummed, hands stretching out his moustache in thought.

Alpha Jonathan took over with a soft and impressed smile on his face, “Well, thank you Micheal for your sharp thinking and quick actions, you would be rewarded duly.”

Micheal nodded.

The alpha's gaze shifted towards me, “I'm guessing you both are in this together, yes?”

In this together?

Before I could respond, Micheal beat me to it, “Yea alpha.”

I fought the urge not to whip my head in his direction in surprise. What the hell was going on? Was this some kind of prank or something?

“Well then, we wouldn't want to keep you from your duties, do we?”

We were excused.

We both bowed before making our way out of the break room.

Outside, I couldn't hold myself any longer, “What...” Micheal placed his hand over my mouth, shutting me up. He grabbed my wrist and pulled.

I let myself be pulled only because I wanted answers. But when we had walked a certain distance, I wretched my hand away from him, “What's the meaning of this, what kind of sick twisted game are y'all playing now?”

My anger rose as I remembered how they almost had me killed twice, betrayed me and left me alone in a place where there was absolutely no one for me.

We were back at the clinic, “This isn't a game.”

Silence ensued when I glanced around, “Where are we?”

Apparently, he had brought us to his home, “My mom and Dad are out and they wouldn't be back till evening so we can talk here.”

“Talk about what?” I snapped, crossing my hands over my chest as I stood in the living room.

“About the Rogue wolves.”

Pfft.

“I don't know anything okay, and you already seem to have that covered, besides I've only seen it once, and if it weren't for….” I watched my words, knowing Micheal would only hop on back to Isaac and tattle, “The bottom line is, I lost her.”

“Is that truly your first time seeing such behaviour?” His question caught me off guard.

My brows furrowed as I let his words sink in, “Wait, you said you've seen it before but…” he wasn't with me when I had my encounter.

His breathing was shallow, “Yes, I have, and so did you, the night Eve tried to attack you.”

My gaze widened as I froze speechless.

The night of the attack returned to me as we had just wrapped up Darla's surgery.

Micheal continued, “I’ve been trying to speak with you ever since but didn't know how to approach it because I didn't have answers for why she did what she did.”

“And now you do?”

He waited for a few seconds before nodding, “Well, not all the answers, just a bit of it. Think about it, what do these people all have in common?”

I thought for a second but didn't seem to pick what he was hinting, “The wolf from earlier? It was Gregory.”

“They were all with us in Briseville, Mia, Eve, Greg.”

My eyes widened at the realization, and a shiver ran down my spine as a lot of things occurred to me, “So wait, what you're implying is that….”

“I'm not implying anything Sylvia, it is what it is, think about it, something must have happened back in Briseville for them to be behaving like this.”

I started pacing slowly, brain wracking vehemently while Micheal continued, “I don't know if it was the water they drank, or something in the food they ate, it could have been anything, besides we were living with them, we wouldn't have known.”

He was right.

We wouldn't have known if the water was tainted from the beginning or the food we ate. What if they had known about us all along and they had made such preparations?

My chest heaved in fear as this was much bigger than I thought. So engrossed in thought and fear.

“Are you going to get that?” Michael's words pulled me out of my thoughts and I realised my phone was ringing.

Fishing it out with shaky hands.

A familiar name popped up on the screen.

Ezekiel.
