Unexpected encounters

I hoped that my words of encouragement would have some effect on her , but it was a delicate and deep subject so if it didn't work out I wasn't going to be uncomfortable . We were silent for a few minutes , and at that moment we realized that we were not alone , there was someone else following in our wake but we had not noticed .

"There's someone behind us , I can smell it ."

She murmured ,as she crouched down and looked all around us .

"I can also feel it , it's not a vampire .. it's more of a ."

I looked towards one of the bushes and the yellow eyes of a gray wolf of about five meters came out to surprise us in the middle of the road .

"I think this is your specialty , so I'll be after you to get you on the same species ."

I commented backing up a few steps behind Carmina hoping that she knew how to handle the situation with the wolf better than I did . The wolf remained motionless for a few moments , until it slowly unveiled its gray and furry face .It was tall enough and with a strong imposing pose it completely intimidated me .

Carmina's wolf stood in front of us and growled loudly at the other wolf. I guess he was communicating something important , in a language that only they could understand .

"This wolf is from my father's pack , what I don't understand is what he is doing here".

Carmina muttered under her breath , I barely reached to hear what she was saying , but she was as surprised as I was to see that wolf .

"What are two vampires doing so far from their area ? , here they can not hunt . It is forbidden ."

Said the voice of the wolf in a serious and rough way .

"We know , we do not come to hunt . We are just passing through , neglect "

The wolf looked at us in an intense way , even after hearing the words of Carmina .

"Can I ask you a question , "are you a member of the Moonlight pack?"

The wolf approached Carmina to sniff her slowly , then took a step back .

" Why is a vampire asking about the Moonlight pack ?"

Asked the wolf , in expectation of an answer .

"Not only am I a vampire , I am also half wolf . Daughter of the former Alpha of that tribe ."

Carmina replied with a tone of authority .

" Daughter of the former alpha? " Asked the wolf , cocking his head slightly to one side in a sign of disbelief .

"That's right , a part of me belongs to you . It was those who killed my father unjustly . Just for falling in love with a vampire woman , I'm the one who should be asking the questions here ; if anyone has the right to attack it's us ."

The wolf retreated a few steps back , and hid in the bush from which he had emerged .

" i You plan to hide coward ! "

Shouted Carmina , as she watched the wolf turn back towards the bush . I was a little uneasy , I didn't quite know what the trick was in all this .

"That's the first time anyone has ever called me a coward , and I don't think I really possess that title ."

Said a male voice coming out of the bush , and then a tall , dark , muscular man came out from behind the bush .

"I see that you have transformed into your human appearance , that means that you are willing to dialogue peacefully "

Commented Carmina , with a calmer pose . Ordering her wolf with her gaze to back off .

"You say you are the daughter of the former alpha of the moonlight pack , and what proof do you have of that claim "

Carmina smiled confidently , and slightly lifted a part of the sleeve of her white flannel . She had a well-defined moon mark on her arm .

" i It can not be ! It's true!"

Commented the man with a face full of gestures of surprise .

" But how is it possible ? I can know how you survived the persecution of your mother and the death of your father" .

Carmina sketched a wry smile , while the werewolf was restless to know all the answers he wanted to hear .

" How do I know I can trust my secrets to a stranger ? I'm a member of the tribe who had the courage to kill his own alpha."

Carmina asked in a serious tone , expecting a quick answer back .

"Don't you trust? You are absolutely right. I understand your position , but believe me I had nothing to do with your father's death "

" How can I be sure you didn't ? " I speculate Carmina , with a serious tone in her voice .

"Why wasn't I , I was your father's main defender until the end . Even when everyone opposed your parents' relationship I was on his side , I was his best friend and I regret everything that happened with him and even more the way everything happened "

The man tilted his head down in a slight sign of embarrassment , while trying to look trustworthy in our eyes .

"I think he is telling the truth , we should listen to him" .

Murmur , while Carmina was still full of concerns and doubts .

"Stay out of it , I'll decide whether to believe him or not" .

She told me in an annoyed way , I guess the fact that someone was at his father's side while he was threatened and persecuted by his own pack to the point of death , was something that despairs any creature . I am desperate for my father , so I understand to some extent his attitude .

"It all happened so fast , your father was cornered with his half brother . The two of them fought over the title of alpha for a long time , and when your brother found out he was having a relationship with a vampire woman , everything came to a head ."

Carmina and I listened intently , as the man explained himself .

" And what did you do about it ?" I ask in an incredulous tone .

"I hid it for a while in my packing house , but it was useless . Your father's brother had many allies and your father quickly lost credibility . Your father disappeared from my side for a while and I thought he was with your mother , but later I found out that he had been captured by his brother and thrown into the fire in the most cruel way ."

Carmina lost control when she heard those words , and swung on the man to attack him mercilessly and he did not make the slightest move to defend himself .

"i Carmina please , control yourself do not commit murder here !"

I shouted with authority , trying to avoid a tragedy .

"He's just one more wolf among all , why should I spare his life ?"

Said Carmina , as she was about to break his legs and back .

"You're right I deserve death for letting my friend be captured ."

Commented the man , kneeling before Carmina without asking for mercy .

"You see , she's screaming for it . This rat doesn't deserve to live one more second on this earth "

Carmina prepared her claws to decapitate the werewolf who betrayed her father , until I stood between the two of them as a human shield .

"Get out of the way or you will be the one beheaded" .

"Don't do it , it's not worth it . Your father didn't want this "

I insisted , almost pleadingly .

"You didn't know my father , you don't know what he was wanted ."

The anger in her eyes was indomitable , it seemed that nothing I said to her would change her mind .

"Maybe not , but I'm sure he didn't want his daughter to be the murderer of his friend "

I said passively , as a last resort . I lightly touched her hand in fear of doing electrocuted , but in the hope of avoiding another tragedy .

"It's not worth it , killing you is not going to bring my father back to me after all ."

Taking a deep breath he stepped back and moved his sharp claws away from that man's neck . I fell to the ground automatically , I thought I would be a dead man as soon as I touched his hand .

"You should have let her kill me , I'm hopeless ."

Hearing that man's lament for what happened , led me to think he was sincere .

"Believe me you are worth more alive than dead ."

I whispered in his ear , as I got up from the ground relieved to have survived another day .

"Let's go we have no time to lose , I want to drain this desire to fight that I have ."

Carmina commented , glaring with her eyes at the werewolf who still held a deep fear in her eyes disguised as bravery .

I nodded and walked behind her on the way to the mansion, I was more than relieved to have prevented a confrontation between them, maybe in the bottom of her wolf heart Carmina kept some compassion.

"Don't lag behind and guide me to the Pocaterra mansion quickly , before I regret having accompanied you ."

Carmina walked beside her wolf all the time , but her countenance had somehow changed .

"You don't have to take the anger out on me , I'm sorry for everything that happened with your parents , but you did the right thing" .
