Chapter 112 Levi's POV

Chapter 112 Levi's POV
My heart was racing so fast , I thought it might jump out of my chest.
I was beginning to think offering your vampire boyfriend your blood should come with some kind of warning label. Especially when said vampire boyfriend looked at you the way Lucifiel was looking at me now.
The room felt smaller as his fingers still rested against my neck. My heart was making an absolute fool of itself at this point.
Lucifiel’s gaze stayed fixed on me for several long seconds. Then he slowly leaned back. The tension didn’t disappear. It simply changed.
“You’re serious.”
I rolled my eyes. “Obviously.”
His thumb brushed against my throat one last time before his hand dropped. “You shouldn’t offer things you don’t fully understand.”
That annoyed me immediately. “I know exactly what I offered.”
“No.” His voice remained calm. “You understand the idea.”
That sounded suspiciously condescending. “And what exactly is that supposed to mean?”
Lucifiel studied me. “It means feeding isn’t always simple.”
I folded my arms. “Neither is dating a vampire who is hundreds of years older.”
“Several centuries older than what you might be thinking.”
“Not helping.”
A laugh escaped him. The tension eased slightly. Thank God. Because another minute of that eye contact and I would’ve forgotten how language worked.
Lucifiel stood and crossed the room. I watched him move toward the window. For a while neither of us spoke. Then he sighed.
“I appreciate the offer.”
I wasn’t expecting that. The sincerity caught me off guard. His back remained toward me. “I appreciate it more than you realize.”
Something about his tone made me sit up straighter. The teasing and amusement were gone. This sounded different. More honest and vulnerable, which was honestly terrifying coming from him. The last time we were like this I asked him to be my boyfriend.
“I meant it.”
“I know,” he said. That made me smile. Because I definitely meant it.
Eventually he turned around. The dangerous look had disappeared. There was still something lingering beneath the surface though, Something that made me want to stare at him longer than was probably healthy.
“So.” I cleared my throat. “About the whole prophecy thing, can you tell me more.”
Lucifiel returned to his chair. The mood shifted immediately.
“There were many versions of it.” His gaze moved toward the ceiling. “Most claimed the blood of the last hunter could break the curse of being a vampirism.”
I frowned. “You believed that?”
“I wanted to.” That answer felt more honest. “There’s a difference.”
Lucifiel nodded. “Yes. A long one. I was tired, Levi.” His voice remained calm. “ I had been alive for a long time. watched kingdoms rise and collapse.” His gaze drifted somewhere far away. “I watched generations live entire lives while I remained exactly the same and I buried people. Honestly I just wanted to be human after I had to bury a human lover.” That one hit differently. I tried not to react.
His goal wasn't just about being human, It was about wanting an ending.
“I thought humanity sounded peaceful and dying the way he did would make me feel closer to him.” The smile that appeared on his face was small and sad. “Funny, isn’t it?”
I shook my head. “No.” Because it wasn’t. Not really. It just sounded lonely and depressing.
Lucifiel looked at me, then smiled. “But then I met you.”
“You say cheesy things way too casually.”
“I’ve had centuries of practice.”
“Clearly.”
He chuckled. The heaviness lifted from my chest slightly. Thankfully he stopped there, because I wasn’t emotionally prepared for another conversation about immortality.
The rest of the afternoon passed surprisingly peacefully. Which probably should’ve worried me. Because peace rarely lasts long around us. Still I enjoyed it. I really should fix my brain to fully enjoy peaceful moments more.
Lucifiel eventually got dragged into helping Kael with something, Rahul disappeared for a work thing for real this time. And Derek spent nearly twenty minutes pretending he wasn’t waiting for Rahul to emerge. The man was embarrassing. And I planned to make it everyone else’s problem. Naturally.
I found him standing near the kitchen pretending to scroll through his phone. Pretending. Being the important word. Because he’d been staring at the same screen for at least five minutes.
I walked over. “You know he likes you.”
Derek nearly dropped the phone. “I hate you.”
“No you don’t. And you need to hear it.”
“I really do.”
“You like him too.”
“Not really. Go find something to do or go back to your vampire.”
“He isn’t available.”
I grinned. Derek groaned. “Why are you like this?”
“Natural talent.”
He looked genuinely disappointed by that answer. The good news is, I have the time to bug and frustrate him. I also think he doesn't realise the fact that we think he's already dating Rahul.
Few hours later everyone ended up together again.
At one point I found myself watching everyone instead of the television. When my eyes landed on Derek he was trying hard not to stare at Rahul but failed miserably. I think Rahul and Derek are my favourite couple on earth. Lucifiel was beside me, our legs touching. This man acts like he can't live without me for someone who's immortal.
Night finally arrived. Lucifiel finally decided to give me my phone. I didn't know who to call but I was grateful he gave it back, but with a warning Not to take strange calls.
Not that the night time changed much for Lucifiel. Vampires and sleep weren’t exactly close friends. I don't think I've heard him talk about sleep, or maybe he just doesn't want to. By midnight everyone had left saying goodnight. And I was all alone with my man again.
I sat beside him on the couch. The apartment remained quiet and peaceful.
“I’ve been thinking.”
Lucifiel immediately sighed.
I narrowed my eyes. “What does that mean?”
“It means your ideas are usually dangerous. Everything coming from that pretty head of yours always screams chaos.”
“I am offended.”
“But it's the truth, my little chaos.”
Rude but I leaned against him anyway. It seems I had developed a dependency problem too. His arm settled around my shoulders automatically.
Then my phone rang. I almost jumped from the surprise of how loud it rang out. I frowned. I had nobody to call except Gracie and she didn't know my phone was on. I glanced at the screen. Unknown number. Weird. I looked at Lucifiel for approval. He nodded and I picked up immediately anyway.
“Hello?”
Silence. Then breathing the sound of someone but not saying anything.
“Hello?”
Then the call ended. I stared at the screen.
“What happened?” Lucifiel’s voice immediately sharpened. I showed him the phone. “Probably nothing.”
His expression said he disagreed. Strongly.
Before either of us could say more—Rahul’s office door slammed open. The sound echoed through the apartment. Everyone was back in the living room. Rahul looked pale.
My stomach dropped. “What happened?”
Rahul didn’t answer immediately. His eyes moved toward me, then Lucifiel and everyone else.
Finally Rahul exhaled. “I just got a call.”
Nobody liked where this was going. Not even a little. “What kind of call?” Kael asked.
Rahul looked exhausted suddenly.. “ It was from the police.”
Every muscle in Lucifiel’s cold body went still. “What happened?”
Rahul rubbed his face. Then looked directly at me.“They lost him.”
The room fell silent.
“What?” My voice sounded distant.
Rahul’s expression hardened. “The transport vehicle was attacked.” The silence became heavier. “The officers escorting him were killed except one.” A chill crawled down my spine. Oh no.
Rahul continued. “They recovered the vehicle.but no trace of him."
Lucifiel slowly stood immediately.
Rahul looked at him . “We’re already trying to—”
“How long?” Lucifiel’s voice cut through the room.
Rahul swallowed. “Three hours ago.”
Then Lucifiel smiled. And I knew immediately that the smile was definitely bad news. Very bad news. Because it wasn’t a happy smile or an amused one.
My stomach dropped. “He escaped once.”
The room remained silent. His smile widened slightly. “It won’t happen twice while I'm alive.”
I had a feeling the next time my father and Lucifiel met… one of them wasn’t walking away.
