Chapter 113 Lucifiel's POV
Chapter 113 Lucifiel's POV
The urge to go after Levi’s father was driving me insane.
The moment Rahul told us the man had escaped, every instinct I possessed demanded blood immediately. I wanted to tear apart every city block until I found him. I wanted answers but most importantly, I wanted him nowhere near Levi ever again.
Unfortunately, Levi had looked me straight in the eye and told me not to disappear in the middle of the night chasing his father. And for some ridiculous reason, I listened. I still wasn’t entirely sure how he managed it. Maybe because after everything he’d been through, I couldn’t bear being another person who ignored what he wanted. Or maybe I was simply weak where Levi was concerned. The answer was probably both.
The apartment had gone quiet hours ago. Levi was asleep. Rahul and Derek had vanished into Derek’s room. Kael was somewhere in the building doing whatever Kael did when he wasn’t being a father figure. And I was sitting in my usual spot, by the bedroom window staring at the city lights and levi occasionally.
Normally, I enjoyed the silence. Tonight it felt like torture. My thoughts kept drifting somewhere I preferred not to visit. Back before Levi, before I had a reason to care whether tomorrow came or not.
Levi knew about the prophecy now. He knew I had spent decades searching for the last hunter. He knew I believed his blood could make me human. I felt like a burden was taken off of my shoulder. Who knew talking about my "suicide mission" as Karl would call it—with my little chaos would feel this way.
The prophecy had offered me an escape. Become human, get myself killed and rest, Simple. Then Levi happened. The universe really had a twisted sense of humor. The one person who was supposed to be my way out somehow became the reason I wanted to stay.
A soft sound pulled me from my thoughts. I turned toward the bed. Levi shifted beneath the blankets. Half asleep. Half dreaming. One arm stretched across the mattress toward my side. Looking for me. Even unconscious he wanted me. I couldn't help but smile at that.
I stood and crossed the room. The moment I sat on the edge of the bed, Levi immediately rolled toward me. His forehead pressed against my shoulder. His breathing relaxed. The movement was entirely instinctive. For the first time in centuries, I had something to lose. And that terrified me far more than immortality ever had.
The next morning started peacefully.
When I entered the kitchen, Rahul was hunched over a laptop. Derek sat besidevhim drinking coffee. I was starting to get fed up with their hide and seek behaviour. Rahul was never like this. It was usually a new man every night in his bed, but now Derek was everywhere with him.
“What happened?” I asked.
Rahul looked up. “The detective contacted me.”
That got my attention immediately. “the one from the forest?”
Rahul nodded. “The same one.”
Derek frowned. “I still don’t trust him.”
“Nobody trusts him,” Rahul said.
“Good.”
Rahul rubbed his eyes. “He’s coming here.”
Kael nearly choked on his coffee. “Why?”
“He says he has information and some questions.”
Derek snorted. “That’s exactly what serial killers say. I thought we shouldn't trust anyone outside this room.”
Nobody disagreed.
Rahul turned the laptop toward us. “I spent most of the night searching for him.”
“What did you find?” Kael asked.
Rahul stared at him. “Nothing.”
“Nothing?”
“Nothing. No social media, No employment records. No photographs. No public databases or government records and no digital footprint whatsoever.”
Even I frowned. That wasn’t normal. . The man existed.I had met him. I watched him fight like a pro. Yet according to every system Rahul could access—he didn’t exist. Interesting, and concerning. He should at least appear somewhere .
Levi walked into the living room wearing one of my shirts. Immediately every thought in my head disappeared. The shirt hung slightly too large on him. His hair was messy. He looked half asleep. Beautiful.
The next thought was to drag him back to the room and bury myself deep inside him, while I...
I quickly pushed the thought away. His offer for me to feed from him was still stuck in my brain.
Levi glanced around the room. “Why does everyone look like they’re planning a murder?”
Derek pointed at Rahul. “Because he spent all night stalking someone online.”
Rahul looked offended. “I was researching.”
“You were stalking him.” Derek sounded like a jealous boyfriend.
Levi sat beside me as Rahul explained the situation. By the time he finished, Levi looked intrigued. “So the mystery detective is coming here?”
“Apparently.”
Levi grinned. “I can’t wait.”
I had a feeling those words would age terribly.
The knock came shortly after noon. Exactly on time. Kael opened the door and the detective stepped inside. He had this weirdly calm expression on. He almost didn't look like the same man who had looked bored while slaughtering vampires.
His eyes swept across the room. Then settled on Levi. “ Good thing You’re still alive”
Levi smiled. “Thanks. I worked really hard at that.”
The detective laughed. “I like you already.”
“I get that a lot.”
Derek was already irritated. I could tell. If I didn't know any better I'd think the detective was trying to flirt with Lev?”
Rahul gestured toward the couch. “Sit.”
The detective sat. Like he owned the apartment. I already disliked him.
“My name is Adrian Blackwell.”
The room stayed silent. Rahul immediately started typing. Adrian sighed. “You’re searching already“Yes. I should at least try, right?”
“Good luck.”
Levi smiled. “Nice to meet you, Mr Adrian.”
The detective visibly winced. “Please don’t.”
Levi smiled wider. “ Mr Adrian.”
Derek burst out laughing, while Adrian looked genuinely annoyed.
My little chaos making me proud .
Eventually the humor faded. The room became serious. Adrian leaned forward. “Your father’s escape wasn’t random.”
Levi’s expression immediately hardened. Neither of us found that surprising. “What do you mean?” Rahul asked.
“I mean he planned it.”
“Obviously,” Derek muttered.
Adrian nodded. “More than you realize.” The room grew quiet. “He wanted to be captured.”
That got everyone’s attention. Levi frowned. “Why?”
Adrian folded his arms. “Because everyone is focused on the escape.” A pause. “Instead of what comes after.”
“ What do you mean what comes after?” I asked.
Adrian looked directly at me. For a moment something strange flashed across his face. “I don’t know.”
Lie. I could tell he knew something. I could feel it. The problem was getting him to talk.
The detective eventually stood. “That’s all I have.”
Nobody believed him. Especially Rahul. “You came all the way here for that?”
Adrian smiled. “No.”
“Then why?”
His gaze shifted between me and Levi. Then settled on levi.
“Be careful.”
Derek folded his arms. “That’s it?”
“That’s it.”
He moved toward the door. Then stopped. For the first time since arriving, his expression became completely serious. “He isn’t running from you.” His gaze settled on me. “He’s running toward something.”
The words lingered in the room. Then Adrian left.
The second the door closed, Rahul opened his laptop again. The next hour was frustrating. No matter what he searched, Adrian Blackwell didn’t exist. He even secretly took a photo of him and sent it to his guys but none of them could find him. The guy was definitely finding something.
At one point Kael leaned over Rahul’s shoulder. “Maybe he’s a ghost or something.”
“A walking ghost. Ha. Ha. Very funny."
Derek threw a pillow at both of them, making Levi laugh.
The sky outside began to grow darker. Levi was curled against my side on the couch. Half listening to Derek and Rahul argue. Half playing with my fingers. I was pretending not to enjoy it.
Then Rahul’s phone rang drawing all our attention immediately. He answered. Listened. And slowly sat upright. The relaxed atmosphere vanished.
“What happened?” Derek asked.
Rahul didn’t answer immediately. His face had gone pale. Then he turned his phone around. “There was an email.”
Rahul opened a quick video file. No sender. Nothing. Just the file.
Static flashed across the screen. Then the image cleared. Levi sucked in a sharp breath. Because the man staring back at us was his father. Alive, unharmed and smiling. The bastard smiled as though he’d been waiting for this moment. As though everything was going exactly according to plan for him
“Hello, Lucifiel.”
The room went still. His eyes never left the camera. Never left me. “I know you’re watching this as.” My hands clenched. Beside me, Levi had gone rigid. The smile on his father’s face widened. “I’ve spent years waiting for this.”
The video shifted slightly. For a brief moment I saw darkness behind him. Stone walls. Torches. An old building. A clue. Intentional. He wanted us to see it. He wanted us looking. “I escaped exactly when I intended to.” His voice remained calm. “I needed everyone in the right position.”
Rahul was already recording every frame. Analyzing every detail. The man on screen continued. “You’ve taken enough from me.” The smile disappeared. “You took my family.” Levi frowned. Confusion flashed across his face. Because none of us knew exactly what he meant. “You took someone from me and You destroyed everything.” His voice cracked slightly.
Then he smiled again. And somehow that was worse. “Now it’s your turn.” The screen flickered. Then he leaned closer to the camera. “If you’re brave enough…” His smile widened. “Come find me.” Silence. “You always wanted answers, Lucifiel.” Another pause. “Now come earn them.”
I couldn't help but smile. This was the kind of excitement I've missed.
