Chapter 111 Levi's POV

Chapter 111 Levi's POV

Waking up beside Lucifiel was becoming a dangerous habit I love.

Every morning I became a little more comfortable, attached and unwilling to leave.

I opened my eyes and immediately found him sitting in the chair near the bed. Reading. Of course he was. The curtains were partially open, letting sunlight spill across the room. The light stopped just short of where Lucifiel sat.

He looked up from his book. “Good morning.”

I groaned. “You sound cheerful.”

“I see it is a sin for you to wake up without the hope of chaos."

"Good morning to you too. I'm a very peaceful person by the way "

His mouth twitched.

“You are one hell of an attractive creep."

This time he chuckled, then closed the book he was holding. “Feeling better?”

I thought about it. The truth was yes. My body wasn’t aching anymore. My head didn’t hurt. The lingering exhaustion from the kidnapping was mostly gone. Mentally… that was a different conversation.

“Better than yesterday.”

His expression softened. “Good.”

I stretched, cracking every bone in my body. I immediately regretted moving the moment I saw the look on Lucifiel's face.

“That's elegant.”

“Shut up.”

I grabbed the nearest pillow and threw it at him. The pillow never reached its destination before he caught it without even looking. Cheater.

By the time I got dressed and left the bedroom, the apartment was already awake. Or at least pretending to be. Kael occupied the kitchen, Rahul sat at the counter staring at a laptop, while Derek stood beside him drinking coffee. They were really close.

My source of entertainment.

I immediately sat down. Nobody trusted the smile appearing on my face. Especially Derek.

“Its too early, please don't say a word."

"Can't a man smile in peace ?"

Rahul sighed, looking from me to Derek. “You two are exhausting.”

I looked at him. “You’ve been smiling a lot lately.”

Rahul nearly choked on his coffee, triggering Kael to start laughing. Come to think about it, I've not seen Kael with anyone before.

I could never get tired of watching all of them like this .

The next ten minutes consisted entirely of Derek threatening me while I continued making observations nobody asked for. Lucifiel eventually appeared and rescued them. Or ruined my fun, depending on the perspective. Mine is definitely the one.

The moment he entered the room, his attention settled on me. Immediately. Like always. Honestly, I was getting used to it. Maybe I'm too used to it because I think I'm already used to it.

Breakfast came and went. The conversation remained light. It felt like nobody was interested in talking about my kidnapping, father or anything that might lead to that conversation. I was grateful for that but I had a feeling Lucifiel had a hand in it.

Several hours later the apartment grew quieter. Kael disappeared. Derek dragged Rahul somewhere private under the world’s weakest excuse. Something about working , which nobody believed obviously. Leaving me alone with Lucifiel. Not that I minded.

We ended up back in the bedroom. I sat cross-legged on the bed while Lucifiel occupied the chair near the window. He was going through his phone while I did some thinking about everything and nothing. Lucifiel refused to let me have a phone with me for reasons I don't know.

I lift my head to find him watching me in that creepy stalker kinda way.

"What now?"

"You look prettier everyday, how does that happen?"

Immediately my face burned. I don't even want to know what he was thinking about before saying that. I can't believe he is my boyfriend.

He had a knowing grin that told me he knew exactly what he was doing to me.

I cleared my throat. “ So I was thinking."

His grin disappeared. There really was something I’d been meaning to tell him. Something we hadn’t actually talked about since the rescue.

“My father.”

The words immediately got his attention. “What about him?”

I took a slow breath. “He told me why he took me.” The room became quieter. I stared at my hands. Then continued. “He said he needed my blood.” Lucifiel didn’t interrupt. “He claimed it was for his son. I don't know if that's true though.” His expression remained unreadable. “But he said his son was dying. And he made it sound like there was no other option.”

Lucifiel still didn't say a word. “The annoying thing is…” I hesitated. Then finished anyway. “For a minute I almost believed him. Hell, a part of me still believes he was telling the truth.”

Lucifiel remained silent and just listened, which made it easier to continue.

“He wasn’t acting all crazy.” I rubbed the back of my neck. “He wasn’t acting evil.”

“No.” The answer came immediately. I looked up. Lucifiel’s gaze never left mine. “No, he wasn’t.”

That surprised me. “Aren’t you supposed to hate him?”

“I do.” The answer was instant. Cold. Certain. “He kidnapped you.”

Fair. “Then why agree with me?”

“Because manipulative people are rarely effective when they sound insane.” His voice remained calm. “They’re effective because they mix truth with lies.”

That sounded annoyingly accurate. I sighed. “He genuinely seemed scared for his son.”

“I believe he was.”

“He genuinely believed he was doing the right thing.”

“I believe that too.”

I frowned. “Then why does it still feel wrong?”

Lucifiel looked at me like the answer was obvious. “Because it is.” Simple and direct. Impossible to argue with.

I leaned back against the headboard. “He could’ve asked.”

Lucifiel’s expression softened slightly. “ He didn't,. And I know You would’ve helped him.”

The answer came instantly. “Of course.” Because I would’ve. That was the part that bothered me. Not the blood. Not even the kidnapping. The fact that he never gave me the choice.

Lucifiel watched me quietly. Then I looked away. A strange expression crossed his face. I noticed immediately.

“What.”

“Nothing.”

His mouth twitched. I narrowed my eyes. “You have something to say.”

He sighed. “There was a time…” His voice became quieter. “…when I wanted your blood too.”

The room went completely silent. I stared at him. “What.”

Lucifiel held my gaze. “There was a time when I wanted your blood. How do you think all this started?”

Okay. That wasn’t what I expected. At all. My brain took a moment to catch up. Then another. Then another. “What?” The second one came out louder.

Lucifiel remained annoyingly calm. “When I first started searching for you.”

I blinked. “Searching for me? Was that why Seraphine said you were supposed to kill me?”

“Yes. The last hunter.”

The words settled between us.Then understanding started forming. “Oh.”

Lucifiel nodded once. “There was a prophecy. The one you heard a little about. For centuries vampires spoke about it.” His gaze drifted toward the window. “ It was about the blood of the last hunter. The prophecy states that the blood could make me human.”

I froze. Human. The last thing I’d expected to hear from a vampire King was him wanting to be human. “You wanted to be human?”

He let out a sad chuckle. “There was a time when it was the only thing I wanted.”

That hit harder than expected. I’d never thought about it. Not really. I knew Lucifiel was old. I knew he’d lived for centuries. I knew he’d seen things I couldn’t imagine. But I’d never stopped to consider what he might’ve wanted.

“I spent decades searching and waiting.” His voice remained calm. “Following rumors.” His gaze returned to mine. “Following legends.” Another pause. “Following hope. Because all the hunters were supposed to be dead.”

I looked at him for a few seconds, before asking a question. “Then you found me?”

His expression didn’t change. But I knew the answer already. “Yes.”

For the first time since we’d started dating, my chest hurts. Not because I thought he’d done something wrong. Because suddenly I understood. The beginning hadn’t been what I thought. When we first met… I wasn’t Levi. To him I was the answer, the cure and the thing he’d spent centuries looking for.

I looked away, trying not to be dramatic. It wasn’t working.

“Levi.”

I looked back up. “When did that change?”

The question escaped before I could stop it. Lucifiel went quiet before finally he spoke. “I don’t know.”

I blinked. How is that possible?”

“I don’t know.” He looked almost amused.

“That’s not helpful.”

“It wasn’t one moment.” The answer came slowly. “I can’t point to a specific day.” I listened. “You annoyed me.” I frowned. “What? It's true. You argue too much too.” Rude. “You ignored common sense.” Fair. “You refused to be intimidated, which was sweet.” Okay, also fair. “You were reckless. But you...you kept making me care.” A small smile appeared on his face.

The room felt warmer suddenly. “I began to worry about you unnecessarily.” The silence stretched. “I realized I cared more about you than I did about becoming human.”

Lucifiel leaned back slightly. “If I had to choose between humanity and you…” He didn’t hesitate. Not even for a second. “There wouldn’t be a choice.”

My throat suddenly felt tight. Which was ridiculous. I swallowed hard. Then looked away before he noticed. Unfortunately he noticed everything.

“Are you crying?"

I used my hand to cover my face.“Stop it. Don't look at me.” His smile widened.

After a few seconds I moved closer. And eventually left the bed and ended up sitting beside him. Lucifiel’s hand found mine automatically.

“You know what’s funny?”

His thumb brushed across my knuckles. “What?”

I laughed softly. “Everybody keeps trying to steal my blood.”

The smile that appeared on his face was immediate. “That’s true.”

“ from my father to Immortal weirdos.”

His eyebrow lifted. “Immortal weirdos?”

“You heard me.” A low chuckle escaped him.

I stared at him for a moment. Then at his mouth, before moving my gaze back to his eyes. An idea formed in my head . It might sound insane, or terrible or even dangerous. “You don’t have to drink the blood of strangers.”

Everything stopped immediately. Lucifiel went completely still beside me. His gaze locked onto mine. I suddenly became very aware of what I’d just said. It's too late now.

I cleared my throat. “ What I'm trying to say is, If you need blood or you’re ever hungry, You can…” I looked away briefly. Then I forced myself to finish what I started. “You can drink from me.”

His eyes darkened slightly. “Do you know what you're asking, Levi?"

The way he said my name didn’t help at all. Not even a little. I swallowed. He could probably hear how fast my heart was beating. His gaze flickered briefly toward my throat. Then back to my eyes slowly. He lifted a hand and his fingers brushed against the side of my neck. He has done it before. I don't think the bite from before would be really different from feeding. The touch was gentle, making me shiver slightly. Lucifiel’s thumb traced the rapid beat beneath my skin a few times.

Then he leaned forward slightly. And my heart immediately forgot how to function.
