Chapter 319 Regret It So Much

Vivian walked out of the doctor's office with Margaret.

Margaret looked at the sign in the corridor and said, "Vivian, I need to go to the restroom. Would you like to go with me?"

Vivian thought that Owen might come out at any moment, so she declined Margaret's offer. "I'm not going. Otherwise, Owen can't see me when he comes out."

"Alright, then I'll go. It might take me a while, and I'll go straight to his ward after I'm done."

"Hmm," Vivian said, "if I finish early, I'll wait for you in the restroom. Go ahead."

Margaret agreed and quickly went to the restroom.

She found a cubicle closest to the wall, made sure there was no one nearby, and immediately made a phone call.

The call was quickly answered, and Margaret lowered her voice.

"Hello, Clive. I found out something. Today, Vivian and I encountered a crazy woman. She wanted to kill Vivian because she had offended Vivian before and was taught a lesson by Ethan. She must have a great resentment toward Ethan. I think we can make good use of her.

"Yes, I saw it with my own eyes. But you have to figure out a way to get her out first. She has already been taken away. If you can provide a psychiatric certificate, she shouldn't have to go to prison, right?

"I know it's a bit difficult, but we have to give it a try. I can't drop a flower pot again, right? These days, he's always with Vivian. I don't want to accidentally hurt her.

"Well, then. It's settled. I'll let you know once I figure out Ethan's schedule."

Meanwhile, in the hospital corridor.

Owen came out of the attending physician's office.

His face was pale, but when he saw Vivian, he still forced a smile.

Vivian glanced at him and said mercilessly, "Stop smiling if you don't want to. You look terrible."

She didn't have a good impression of Owen, so her tone wasn't very friendly.

But to her surprise, despite her harsh words, Owen's smile deepened.

She couldn't help but frown, "Do you have a problem? I said you look terrible when you smile, and you smile even more?"

"Yes." Owen pursed his lips and said, "It's been a long time since anyone has told me the truth. Even when I work late and have dark circles and terrible skin, my fans and assistants still manage to praise me for having flawless beauty.

"At home, I often argue with my dad and my mom always speaks softly to me. And the woman I once deeply loved. Everything she said to me was full of flattery.

"But what's the use of all this? Not a word is true. I am truly disgusted by these fake things. Your words, on the other hand, make me feel real and make me feel like I'm not in a fake world right now."

Vivian furrowed her brows. Owen sounded pitiful, but...

"I'm sorry, Owen, but I'm not very interested in your mental world. You said you had something to tell me just now, right? What is it?"

A bitter smile appeared on Owen's face. "It seems you still haven't forgiven me, but your coming to see me makes me feel like I'm getting closer to your forgiveness. It's not very convenient to talk here. Shall we go to my ward?"

"Sure, lead the way."

Vivian followed Owen and soon arrived at his ward.

After closing the door, Owen spoke directly, "Just now you heard the doctor say my heart has a problem. Can I ask you for a favor?"

Vivian frowned, "You're not asking me to give you my heart, are you?"

"What?" Owen was shocked. "How could you think that way? Do you really have such a bad impression of me?"

Vivian glanced at Owen. "Yes, for someone with a history, I tend to automatically think of you in the worst light."

Owen smiled awkwardly, "It seems that I really can't do bad things, or I will be labeled as a 'bad guy' for life. But I actually want to atone."

"I know. Stop beating around the bush. What do you want me to do?"

"It's actually not a difficult thing." Owen looked at Vivian and said, "I just hope you can keep it a secret for me. Don't tell Ethan. Because I'm worried that if Ethan knows, my mom may find out too."

Vivian said, "I see. So you're planning to just let it be and wait to die?"

Owen was a bit choked up. After a few seconds, he began to explain, "Not really. I don't want to die yet. I just don't want my mom to know. I'll seek treatment on my own."

"Alright. I promise you," Vivian chuckled and said to Owen, "Actually, I'm not that bored to gossip about you with Ethan. You saved me today and we're even now. I saved you once, you should remember that, right?"

"I remember." Owen touched the small round scar on his neck. "You performed surgery on me and removed the wasp from my trachea. I won't forget it."

"You can forget about it now. After all, we are even."

"Alright."

As Vivian was about to leave, Owen couldn't help but stop her again. "I don't know who to talk to. Can you listen to me a little more? After listening, you can completely pretend that I didn't say anything!"

Vivian was about to leave, but when she heard Owen's voice sounding a bit choked up, she suddenly became a little interested.

She turned around, stared at Owen, and asked, "Will I be happy after listening to you?"

Owen curled his lips self-deprecatingly. "You hate me so much, so you'll definitely be very happy to listen."

"Then go ahead and say it."

"Hmm." a frightening memory came flooding back to Owen. "Actually, my heart was fine just a few months ago. The reason it suddenly had a problem was because when I was captured by Quinton in Miriwyth, he electrocuted me.

"At that time, I thought I was almost going to die. I could even feel my heart stopping blood supply, but for some reason, I survived in the end.

"But ever since then, my heart has been aching intermittently. I really regret it! I shouldn't have believed Sophia's words, and I shouldn't have gone to Miriwyth! I know it sounds ridiculous for me to say all this in front of you now, but I really regret it.

"When I found out that my heart was malfunctioning due to the electric shock, I was really scared inside, but I didn't want to tell anyone because it was all my own stupidity. I feel like I brought this upon myself. It's my retribution."

"But sometimes, I still feel it's unfair. I just trusted that woman too much. I just... I'm sorry. I am being too emotional. Sorry that you have to see all this. Forget what I said."

Vivian didn't say anything. It was impossible for her to comfort Owen.

After a few seconds of silence, she turned and walked out.
