Chapter 318 A Heart Problem

"Owen?!"

For a moment, Vivian didn't know what to say!

She wanted to say that Owen ruined her plan, but after all, he did get stabbed to save her, so she couldn't blame him.

The assailant in front realized that she had stabbed the wrong person and immediately dropped the knife and ran away.

Vivian could see that the assailant was a woman, and she presumed that the woman was most likely a fan of Owen.

Previously, Vivian didn't care that these zealous fans threw things at her, but now the woman was wielding a knife in broad daylight and hurting Owen. This time, she must catch the woman and send her to prison.

When that woman stabbed Owen just now, Margaret had already shouted for help loudly!

Margaret's voice was loud, and she shouted several times in a row, quickly attracting the attention of passersby. Some kind of people even stepped forward to help stop the assailant.

With Vivian also chasing after her, the assailant was soon subdued between Vivian and the passersby.

During the struggle, the mask of the assailant accidentally fell off, and Vivian recognized the woman at a glance.

She was a bit surprised. "Lindsay?" To Vivian's surprise, it was not Owen's fan.

However, in response to Vivian, Lindsay spat. "I'll kill you, bitch. If you dare to mess with me, I'll make you pay a heavy price!"

Vivian found it amusing. "You were the one who provoked me first. Keep those words for the police. I don't want to hear them."

With that, she picked up Lindsay's hat and crumpled it to gag Lindsay.

Unable to call the police, Vivian looked to the nearby passersby for help.

Knowing that someone had called the police, Vivian pushed Lindsay aside.

Shortly after, Margaret helped Owen walk over.

Vivian noticed the blood dripping from Owen's feet and furrowed her brow. "Aren't you going to the hospital?"

"Yes, I've already called an ambulance and it will arrive soon," Owen explained before asking. "How about you? You weren't injured just now, right?"

"I'm fine." Some words were already at the tip of Vivian's tongue, but she felt it might be inappropriate to say them now, so she bit them back. "Just take care of yourself, and don't do anything risky in the future."

"Okay," Owen replied softly. "I was too hasty just now. If I hadn't shown up, you might have caught her on the spot. Sorry, it seems like I have screwed it up."

Vivian nodded. "Since you're injured, find a place to rest. Don't stand here."

Three minutes later, the security guards of the mall hurried over, and five minutes later, the police car and ambulance arrived almost at the same time.

Vivian and Margaret, who were not injured, went directly to the police station, while Owen was taken away by an ambulance.

After Vivian and Margaret made their statements at the police station, they went to the hospital.

After all, Owen had gotten stabbed to save Vivian, so logically she should go and check on him.

Upon hearing her instructions, Mason drove the car in the direction of the hospital.

On the way, Margaret asked Vivian,

"Vivian, why did Lindsay want to kill you? I asked the officers at the police station, but they didn't tell me the reason. Can you tell me what happened?"

"Lindsay is a mean woman. She wanted to take revenge on me. Last time at Owen's birthday party, she scolded me harshly, which made Ethan very angry, so he taught her a lesson. She must have tasted the bitter fruit, so she had a twisted mind."

"But she doesn't look like a bad person to me. What means did Ethan employ to force her into such a state?"

Vivian looked at Margaret incredulously. "Grandmother, why would you say that? There is something wrong with her. Otherwise, she wouldn't have picked on me for no reason in the clothing store at the beginning.

"The things she said at the banquet that night were even more excessive. Even if Ethan hadn't taken action, their brokerage company could not have kept her, for sure they would have terminated the contract with her.

"Ethan wanted to give her a lesson, so he informed the company and they shunned her. Under these circumstances, if she couldn't bear it and wanted to solve it with the company, she would face huge compensation.

"That was how things unfolded, but she brought this upon herself."

"Oh, so that's how it is," Margaret explained. "I thought Ethan had done something unspeakable. It seems I misunderstood him."

"Grandmother," Vivian frowned, "Ethan is not as bad as you think."

...

Twenty minutes later.

Vivian and Margaret arrived at the hospital.

Vivian did not go directly to see Owen but went to see Owen's attending physician first.

She wanted to inquire about Owen's condition directly from the doctor.

The attending physician, as a matter of routine, asked her, "Are you a family member of the patient?"

In order to smoothly understand Owen's condition, Vivian replied, "Yes, I want to know how he is doing now. Is it serious? Does it affect his internal organs? And does he need to be hospitalized?"

"Hmm... Wait a moment. Let me take a look," the attending physician said, accessing Owen's medical records from the computer.

After reviewing the records, he looked back at Vivian.

Then he solemnly said, "The external injury is not very serious, but we still recommend hospitalization for observation because, during the examination, we found a slight issue with the patient's heart."

Vivian was somewhat surprised. "Are you suggesting that he may have a heart condition, but it is unrelated to this injury? Is that correct?"

"That's right." The attending physician nodded. "Look at this X-ray film. The knife pierced between two ribs, and the wound is not deep, completely avoiding vital areas."

"Okay." Vivian nodded. "I understand. Does he know about this result?"

The doctor nodded. Before he could say a word, Owen's voice sounded from outside the door. "I know."

Vivian was a bit surprised. "Why aren't you resting properly in bed?"

"It's not a serious injury. I happened to come to the doctor. I didn't expect to see you here," Owen said. Then he asked cautiously, "Are you here to see me?"

Vivian glanced at him. "Of course. Since you're fine, I'll leave first."

"Wait!" Owen immediately stopped Vivian. "Could you wait for me a moment? I have something to tell you."

Vivian frowned, but since Owen was a patient, she agreed. "Okay, I'll wait for you outside."
