Chapter 26

Chapter 26

Logan's pov.

I stayed at my aunt's and uncle's house , they were both happy to recieve me after a sumptuous meal in the evening

My aunt Martha and uncle Michael have always felt like additional parents to me. They had embraced me when my parent weren't here, and I loved them deeply.

While we talked, the discussion shifted to my impending marriage to Brianna Conners. My aunt and uncle shared a worried look, and I realized what was about to happen.

"Logan, darling, are you certain about this?" my aunt inquired, her tone soft yet questioning. "Getting married is a significant decision, and we simply want to ensure you're prepared."

I grinned, looking forward to this inquiry. "I've never felt more certain about anything in my life, Aunt Rachel," I said assuredly. "Brianna is my soulmate, and I believe we are destined to be united."

My uncle Michael leaned closer, his expression earnest. "Logan, we aren't doubting your affection for Brianna." We simply want to ensure you’ve considered this thoroughly. Her father, Conners, is... intricate. "Are you ready to manage him for the entirety of your life?"

I nodded, acknowledging their worries. "I'm aware that Conners can be challenging, but I'm ready to do anything necessary to ensure Brianna's happiness." Moreover, I believe he’s beginning to change his mind. "After all, he's granted us his approval."

My uncle and aunt shared another look, this time doubtful. "That's exactly it, Logan," my aunt said softly. "Conners' approval appears... unexpected." "Are you certain he's not simply acting like he's fine with this marriage?"

I scowled, sensing a hint of doubt. Was I too hasty to believe Conners' shift in feelings? However, I then considered Brianna and how deeply she cared for me. I believed we were destined to be together, regardless of her father's opinion.

"I see your concerns, but I genuinely believe that Conners is sincere," I asserted confidently. "Even if he isn't, I'm ready to accept that risk for Brianna." "She deserves it."

My uncle and aunt exchanged glances, then turned to me again. I noticed the care and affection in their eyes, and I understood that they only wanted what was best for me.

"Alright, Logan," my uncle finally said, giving a nod. "We have confidence in your decision-making." "If you are certain about this, then we support you completely."

I grinned, sensing a rush of relief envelop me. "I appreciate it, everyone," I expressed with gratitude. "That is very significant to me."

As we embraced, I realized I had made the correct choice. I was prepared to wed Brianna, regardless of the obstacles that might come our way. I felt loved by my aunt and Uncle , their support gave me the confidence I needed.

I sat on the study chair in my uncle's study room , I could percieve the old and new books. My uncle, Michael, shut the door after him and signaled for me to sit down. I did, experiencing a wave of anxiety envelop me.

"Logan, I have something to discuss with you," my uncle remarked, his tone quiet and earnest. "There's been a concern on my mind since you shared the news of your engagement to Brianna."

I leaned in, my interest aroused. "What’s going on, Uncle Michael?"

My uncle inhaled deeply before he spoke. "You're aware that Conners is a strong individual, Logan." He is a very callous man who would stop at nothing to achieve his own evil aims"

I nodded,I understand, Uncle Michael. I believed we had moved beyond all of that. "I suppose he's granted us his approval, right?"

My uncle's look became serious. "That’s precisely it, Logan." I doubt Conners is doing this purely for altruistic reasons. "I believe he’s in a tough situation, and he’s leveraging Brianna to reach you."

A chilling fear began to crawl up my back. "What are you trying to say?"

My uncle leaned in, his gaze fixed on me. "You're aware of what occurred when you turned eighteen, Logan." You were taking your mother to the hospital when you accidentally struck Conners' wife. She passed away, and your father accepted the blame for you. He was sent to prison, and Logan along with Conners ensured he endured pain.

A wave of guilt engulfed me, quickly succeeded by a rush of anger. "That was unintentional, Uncle Michael." "I had no intention of causing pain to anyone."

My uncle's demeanor softened. "I'm aware of that, Logan." I understand that your father accepted the blame to keep you safe. However, Conners is indifferent to that. His sole concern is one thing: retaliation. "I believe he's utilizing Brianna to reach you."

I felt something in my stomach, is this true?  Was Conners exploiting his own daughter to manipulate me?

My uncle's voice interrupted my thoughts. "Logan, I understand your feelings for Brianna, but you need to consider this." What if Conners is merely using her to reach you? "What if he's up to something?"

I got up, sensing a wave of discomfort come over me. I was unsure of what to believe or how to act. What I understood was that I needed to safeguard Brianna and protect myself.

"Uncle Michael, I’m not sure how to respond," I confessed, sensing a feeling of doubt.

My uncle rose and placed a hand on my shoulder. "Simply exercise caution, Logan." That's everything I'm expressing. "Caution is advised; remain vigilant and don't relax your defenses."

I nodded, experiencing a wave of determination surge through me. I would do anything necessary to safeguard Brianna and myself. I would not allow Conners to manipulate us for his own devious games.

As I exited my uncle's study, I couldn't rid myself of the sensation that I was stepping into a snare. However, I was resolved to confront whatever challenges awaited me directly.
