Chapter 27

Chapter 27

Logan's pov

I embraced Brianna, drawing her near as we sat side by side on the couch. She rested against me, her head on my chest, and I experienced a wave of calmness envelop me. Yet, while gazing at her, I realized I needed to address the topic that had been troubling me.

"Brianna, could I discuss something with you?" I inquired, my tone quiet and earnest.

She gazed at me, her eyes filled with intrigue. "Naturally, what are you thinking about?"

I inhaled slowly, selecting my words thoughtfully. "It's regarding your father." I have no trust in him, Brianna. "I believe he could be attempting to undermine our wedding arrangements."

Brianna's face shifted, her eyes glazing with a blend of feelings. I noticed the refusal in her eyes, yet I also perceived a hint of uncertainty. Deep inside her heart, she understood I was correct, but she was unwilling to acknowledge it.

"Logan, don’t be absurd," she replied, her tone steady yet tinged with doubt. "My dad would never do something like that." "He's granted us his approval, hasn't he?"

I nodded, keeping my gaze fixed on hers. "Indeed, he has." However, that's precisely what is troubling me. It's overly simple, overly handy. I believe he's keeping something concealed, Brianna. "Furthermore, I prefer not to risk anything."

Brianna let out a sigh, her shoulders drooping a bit. "Logan, I hear your worries, but I honestly don't believe my father would harm us in any way." "He cares for me, and he wishes for my happiness."

I drew her nearer, my embrace tightening around her. "I'm aware that he cares for you, Brianna." However, I understand that he is a complicated individual with many hidden truths. And I prefer not to risk anything regarding  that .

Brianna gazed at me, her eyes exploring my own. "What do you mean, Logan?" "Should we call off the wedding?"

I nodded negatively, my heart pounding at the idea. "Not at all, Brianna." What I’m indicating is that we should exercise caution, that’s it. "We must ensure that we are ready for whatever may come our way."

Brianna nodded gradually, her demeanor pensive. "Alright, Logan." "I'll make an effort to be more cautious, more mindful of our surroundings."

I grinned, experiencing a wave of relief come over me. "That's everything I could hope for, Brianna." I only desire for us to be joyful, to be united. "And I will go to any lengths necessary to ensure that occurs."

As we embraced, I realized I needed to monitor Conners closely to ensure he wouldn't attempt to undermine our wedding arrangements. I was resolute in safeguarding Brianna, ensuring her protection from danger. And I was ready to do anything necessary to achieve that.

I grasped Brianna's hands, gazing into her eyes while we sat side by side on the couch. We had spent hours talking about our wedding plans, and I realized I needed to mention the issue that had been on my mind.

"Brianna, could we discuss something?" I inquired, my tone soft yet resolute.

She gazed at me, her eyes gleaming with curiosity. "Certainly, what are you thinking about?"

I inhaled deeply, selecting my words with caution. "I believe we ought to rethink the idea of inviting your father to the wedding."

Brianna's face transformed in a moment. Her countenance changed immediately " what do you mean Logan , you should know that I can't do that, my father is all I have got . He isn't as black as y'all paint him to be " Brianna said angrily.

I raised my hands, attempting to soothe her. "Brianna, I need you to hear me out , I love you and I don't want anything to ruin our big day. You know how your father is , you know how manipulative and controlling he is, I do not want any trouble from him " I said trying really hard to convince Brianna.

Brianna's rage transformed into wrath. She rose to her feet, her eyes fiery with anger. "How could you!" she shouted. "My dad might not be flawless, yet he remains my dad." "I won't omit him from my wedding merely because you dislike him."

I got to my feet, attempting to persuade her. "Brianna, I need you to understand." This isn't solely about my dislike for your father. It's focused on safeguarding us, our connection, and our future as a couple. Your father has a pattern of influencing and dominating others. "I do not wish for him to treat us that way."

However, Brianna was impervious to logic. She felt furious, pained, and deceived. "Logan, you're simply attempting to dominate me," she charged, her voice shaking with fury. "You're attempting to control who I can and cannot invite to my own wedding."

I experienced a surge of sadness and irritation. I understood that I needed to help Brianna realize the truth, but I also recognized that I couldn't compel her to take actions against her will.

"Brianna, I'm not attempting to dictate your actions," I said, my tone calm and tender. "I'm simply attempting to safeguard us." "Are you unable to notice that?"

However, Brianna was too upset to pay attention. She pivoted and marched out of the room, making me feel frustrated, upset, and anxious about our future together.

While I remained there, feeling powerless and uncertain about my next steps, I realized that I needed to find a way to help Brianna understand. I needed to figure out how to explain to her that leaving her father out of the wedding was the best choice for our future as a couple.

However, while gazing at the vacant room, I couldn't rid myself of the impression that I had just committed a significant error. Had I pushed Brianna to her limit? Had I harmed our relationship irreparably?

Only time will reveal.
