Chapter Seventy-Nine

               Mirah

“I hope you enjoyed the adventure while it lasted, dear human? You're quite privileged I must say. It isn't everyday that one becomes affiliated with a royal.” King Tyler continued.

I felt blood pour down my wrist, and flow upwards towards the ball.

No.

No!!!

              Zeke

Anxiousness.

Fear.

A very foreign feeling. One I hadn't felt in a long while. Till I met Mirabella Aurel.

That feeling clawed so hard at my heart, keeping me rooted at a spot. My legs felt numb, as I struggled to my feet. Tyler was feeding her blood to the Source already. And at the rate it was flowing, it'd definitely end her life.

I dashed forward without thinking.

“It’s dangerous, Zeke!” Someone called out from behind me. I ignored his words, my focus entirely on my woman.

The woman whose body was my addiction.

The woman I worshiped.

My kitten.

Queen Belinda pulled me from behind. “Attacking him would only endanger Mirah.”

I froze in my tracks. I looked up to see that the Source was fast pulling Mirah into its hole. I dashed forward again.

No.

I was ready to die in her place. She didn't deserve to die in this manner. She didn't deserve to die at all.

“Mirah!” I called out desperately, the voice sounding nothing like me.

I pulled on her other hand, and yelled loudly as an electricity-like power coursed through my body. The pain was so much.

And it broke my heart to think that she was passing through the same pain.

A pain meted out by my great-grandfather.

All for what?

His selfish desires.

“Let go,” Mirah said weakly, her voice cracking and her face pale. Her blue jade eyes were now almost lifeless.

My heart squeezed.

“For you, I'm ready to burn down the world Mirah. To keep you safe, I'm ready to give up my life.” And I meant it.

I fucking did.

As I spoke, tears rolled down Mirah's cheeks in thick lines.

“Don’t worry Kitten, I'll get us out of here safely.” I promised.

“I’m sorry, Zeke. For ever doubting you.” She whispered, and even though I didn't understand what she meant by that, I placed my free finger against her lips.

“Stop talking, my love.” Another pain coursed through my body shaking my stance.

I breathed heavily, yet I didn't let go of her hand. I'd never.

A thought occurred to me, and I closed my eyes accessing my vampire-force. Praying that it worked, I channeled it to the Source.

The power which had been fast pulling her slowed down.

I sighed in relief, lowering down my gaze at an ashen faced Mirah.

“What the hell do you think you're doing, young prince?!” King Tyler growled.

Mirah's eyes widened. “What is going on? What are you doing, Zeke?”

“Nothing to worry about, Kitten.” I managed a pained smile.

She smiled sadly. “Let go, please,” she squeezed my hand as much as her strength could allow.

Her breath was now shallow. “Take it as repayment for the times I tried to kill you.”

I looked her straight in the eye, and wiped away her tears with a finger. “Never.”

She swallowed, and winced at the effort.

I wasn't any better. The Source was taking away all my vampire-force. But that wasn't what I was worried about.

It was about Mirah. Once the Source was done with me, it could go back to drawing her blood essence.

I couldn't allow that to happen.

I wanted to say something. To assure her that I'd go to the end of the world just to ensure that she was safe.

That I'd slaughter a thousand men if that'd make her smile again.

That I'd do anything to make her look at me with love-filled eyes.

But I couldn't say a word. My power was fast leaving me, and even standing was proving to be a problem.

My vision was becoming blurry.

Fuck.

“Zeke, please.” Mirah said again, this time with a weaker voice than before.

I tightened my jaw, avoiding her gaze and staring straight at the Source.

“Quit begging me, Kitten. I'd never leave you. And don't worry, I won't die.” I looked at her, maintaining eye contact.

“You alone wield the power to destroy me, Mirabella.”

Her eyes brimmed with tears, and she sniffled.

Suddenly, a blast of power hit me from behind. It hit my spine, making me groan. But even then, I didn't let go of her hand.

Nor did I stop feeding my vampire-force to the Source.

“Stop feeding your vampire-force to it!” My great-grandfather growled, hitting me with another blast of power.

It burned through my clothes, leaving my back bare to his continuous assault.

I winced, as he attacked again. Mirah's sobs grew louder.

Tyler adopted another method. “Is a human worth sacrificing your life for?”

I chuckled coldly. “I shouldn't be bothered to explain. A heartless Vampire like you won't understand.”

“Pathetic. Very pathetic. If I didn't know better, I'd say she's casted a spell on you. What did she enchant you with? Does she have a magic pussy?” He scoffed.

His words enraged me. I breathed heavily.

“Don’t speak about my woman in that manner.” I warned, trying to maintain my balance.

“Accept defeat, young prince. You're all in a disadvantageous position. Your lives are hanging on a thin thread.” He sneered.

“Yet you're afraid to attack me again.” I could see his hesitation. For whatever reason, feeding my vampire-force to the Source was affecting him.

Maybe he hadn't thought I'd give up my power easily.

“You’re worse than your father, young prince.” He sneered again.

“Father? Nah, I don't think I have one.” I could see King Elliott shaking like a leaf during a storm from the corner of my eyes.

“A father doesn't hang his child out to dry when things go south. A father doesn't allow his child to go through unnecessary pain in his presence.” My lips curled, as my power erupted.

The force blasted everyone except Queen Belinda and the others to the ground.

Tyler regained his balance quickly, his eyes widening slightly out of surprise. He masked it quickly, but I'd seen it.

“I groomed him. He's a great ruler.”Tyler praised.
