Chapter 80 Chapter Eighty

Chapter 80 Chapter Eighty
Chapter Eighty
⚓️⚓️⚓️
                Zeke

“Great? More like he's your puppet. He's so pathetic that I'm embarrassed on his behalf.” I continued speaking, to ensure that Tyler and his cohorts were distracted. And the Circle? They stood in a clean file close to Tyler, ensuring that no one came close to him.

To think that I'd once been proud to be a member.

I felt something warm and fuzzy pour into my chest. It coursed through my veins, making me sigh in pleasure.

It was finally happening.

A little sound from Mirah made me turn towards her.

I was so close to achieving my aim.

The Source was rewriting its powers.

And Tyler hadn't realized it yet, because of his arrogance.

“Out of greed, you stole the Source which was supposed to belong to all powers of the Dark realm, and concocted a lie that it'd vanished. You're worse than evil.” I spat, looking through the corner of my eyes to ensure that Mirah was still breathing and safe.

Tyler flared up like I knew he would.

“Everything I've done, I did for the sake of this kingdom. For the sake of my generation. For the sake of everyone! You can't see that because you're blinded by a human girl's pussy!”

I scoffed. Lord help him, because if he said anything crude about Mirah once more, I was going to upgrade his death to a fast one.

“The Source isn't as evil as you paint it. The Source doesn't feed on blood. You forced it to accept.” I continued.

His lips curved downwards, his hold on his staff tightening. “The Source is so pure, so weak to be the channel of power for all realms. I had to upgrade it. To do something no one was wise enough to do.” He argued.

“Which was to feed the blood of an innocent human to it? The blood of my mother?” My voice broke but I swallowed, reining down on my emotions.

He was going to pay.

But not yet. I'd torture him so slow and hard that he'd plead for death himself.

“A Vampire isn't allowed to marry a human. Your mother broke the rules.” He retorted nonchalantly.

My blood boiled in fury.

“And you killed her? What a great ruler you're, Tyler.” I sneered.

His eyes narrowed into slits, as he finally turned towards Mirah who was floating behind me. As if he just realized what was happening, his eyes widened.

“What’s happening? Why's the Source rejecting her blood essence?” His brows knitted.

“Because it just realized that you aren't fit to be its Controller. It isn't obeying your orders anymore.” I said in response to his question.

“T-that’s impossible!” His eyes blazed brightly.

“Hear my words, Tyler!” I called out, spreading my arms.

“We’d return. But we'd come back prepared. Don't bother running away, ‘cause there's nowhere to run to.” As I spoke, my body shone brightly.

I intertwined my fingers with Mirah, baring my fangs at the bastard whose face was now hardened.

“Get ready, for our final meeting will be your last!” I vowed.

As the last word left my lips, a great blast of power hit me, throwing us to the ground.

And finally, everywhere was silent.

Mirah.

That was the name that came to mind as my eyes flipped open. I half-expected to find her close to me. Or within close range.

Only that I didn't find Mirah when I looked around. Instead, an injured Queen Belinda sat a few meters away with Natasha tending to her.

“You’re awake.” Queen B muttered. A statement not a question.

I forced myself up, and looked around again. Kai nodded at me, Qyle and Gwev were absent.

“Where’s Mirah?” I asked, my voice coming off dry. I swallowed, and clambered down the immaculate bed I'd been lying on.

I didn't make it a few steps away, when I collided with the ground.

“I’d advise you to rest first. You aren't strong enough to walk yet.” Natasha said calmly without looking up from her mother's wounded leg.

I groaned, and forced myself back to the bed. I sat on the edge, and swallowed again.

“What happened?” I asked.

“We have no idea. You just erupted, and we found ourselves here at Gavemorth. Wounded, of course.” Queen B explained.

“How long do we have?” I asked weakly.

Done with dressing her mother's wound, Natasha moved away, and went over to sit on a vacant chair. She had a wound on the side of her head, which was already covered.

“We don't know that either. But Tyler is planning something. That, we're sure of. And it definitely has to do with the Source.” Queen B replied.

I mused over her words, and remained silent for a while.

“You know the incident that led to my mother's death. Why didn't you say anything?” I asked, avoiding her gaze.

I didn't want to look.

Afraid of what I'd see if I did.

“It’d change the course of events, Zeke. I couldn't allow that to happen.” She said calmly.

“I thought…” My words trailed off, and my voice cracked. I didn't need to continue; she probably knew what I wanted to say.

While I thought a Rogue had been behind my mother's death, my evil great-grandfather who's supposed to be in hibernation had ordered for her to be killed.

A great revelation indeed.

My heart ached, as I jerked my head up.

She was there, staring at me with tearful eyes, her hand clutching the edge of the dress she'd just changed into.

And suddenly, all I could see was her.

Mirah.

My kitten.

She advanced towards me slowly, as if she couldn't believe I was real. I could see the questions in her eyes. And something else.

Pity.

Had she heard my conversation with Queen B?

I opened my mouth to speak first, but she beat me to it. Her hands rounded my neck, as she flung herself against me. I took a deep breath, inhaling her scent, and subconsciously relaxed.

She was safe. She was safe. And she was in my arms.

I pressed my nose into her hair, loving the scent of her.

“Zeke,” her voice broke.

“Yes Kitten?” I murmured, stroking my hand over her back.

She moved away and stared into my eyes. “Don’t do that next time. Ever again. Don't endanger yourself for my sake-”
