TROUBLE PACK
TROUBLE PACK
Chapter 73
Alessia's pov
I looked at my image in the mirror, my poor frame looked so hopeless and lost. Lost in the uncertainty of my impending fate.
Hedges had called, asking us over to the Alpha's aboard after close to two hours of waiting. He'd sounded neutral on the call, so it was impossible to dictate what consequences awaited us.
Ophelia's figure crossing the mirror pulled me back to consciousness, and I turned to meet her gaze on me.
‘‘You will be fine, trust me. Hedges isn't bad as he may have seemed.’’ She tried comforting me.
“Let's get going.’’ Lady Amora showed up.
Ma'am Amira was already out waiting, but she wasn't going with us to the Alpha. She'd drop by at the family store while we went, and Ophelia was to join her afterwards.
We arrived at the compound and we were led to the waiting venue; under a shade of trees somewhere around the side of the Alpha's portable duplex.
Soon, a man came to call on us. They led us into the main building, and I suspected we were on the way to meet the Alpha. But he stopped by a door, unfitting for the Alpha's place.
“They are here.’’ He announced after placing a brief knock, whereafter he walked away.
“What was that?’’ I asked in curiosity, running my eyes from lady Amora to Ophelia.
They didn't seem like they understood anything either. Lady Amora almost turned to yell after the man who had almost disappeared from view, but the door creaked open.
“What?’’ We all spat at once.
“Why do you look so surprised? Come with me.’’ It was no other than Hedges, with a few other men behind him. About two of them, which I suspected to be his colleagues.
It turned out the door was an entrance to a passageway. They led us through the hallway and we were brought to the face of an elevator.
The alpha's meeting chambers had to be underground. The elevator seemed to have rode downwards, reopening to a cold, bright yellow room, vast enough to contain two long sofas on the sides and a gorgeously designed cushion at the peak point where the Alpha was seated. His thorne.
One of the sofas was dominated by elders of the pack, their eyes literally feeding on us as the elevator parted open. Obviously, they had been expecting us.
“Greetings, Alpha.’’ Hedges sounded, walking into the wide space with the other two men closely behind him.
We followed after them after exchanging meaningful glances amongst ourselves.
“Greeting, Alpha of our pack.’’ Lady Amora bowed, and I followed suit with Ophelia.
“Please come forward, Mrs Alessia.’’ Hedges beckoned, straining my heart in a feeble shiver.
I pushed my heavy feets forward, right in the middle of the circle, with my head lowered to the floor.
“Go ahead and introduce yourself.’’ Hedges instructed behind me.
‘‘I'm Alessia Kleith, the daughter of Alpha Griffin Kleith of RedVille pack….’’
“RedVille pack?’’ An elder sounded, interrupting me.
“The pack that was defeated and trampled some years ago?” Another said.
“Go on.’’ The Alpha commanded.
I sucked in my tongue, a bit of memories beginning to storm my head. My father only ever meant good towards Silverstone pack, but Thompson never saw it that way. He gathered the guts to destroy the friendship and oneness our fathers built, and didn't even care that I lost my father over it.
“I moved into Silverstone pack, following an agreement between my father and the former Alpha of the pack. I'd fallen in love with his son even though he wasn't my mate, and our fathers made me his wife.’’ I stopped to let it sink.
“Did you stay Silverstone pack?’’ The Aloha questioned.
It has to be what I thought. He had probably gotten the news of my missing from the pack and hearing it now rings a bell.
“Isn't that the same pack that raided and trampled RedVille pack?’’ He asked instead.
My heart constricted in a chilly grip, leaving heavy pulsating aches against my skull.
“Yes, it is.’’ Lady Amora spoke, when she sensed that I'd lost my voice.
The elders went whispering into each other's ears, sharing inaudible words that only them could make sense out of.
“Silence.’’ The Alpha commanded. “Young woman, I'd like to hear the behind story in that plot.’’ He returned his focus on me.
“Thompson never liked the idea of taking me as his wife. He believed in fated mates. It was just his resentment towards me and my father that instigated his action. Besides, my father had no male child to take up the pack responsibilities after his passing.’’ I added the last line to reduce any agitation the revelation might stir in them.
‘‘What insolence!’’
‘‘How absurd!’’
‘‘That doesn't amount to anything!’’
Different comments came around the room.
“So why did you make him get married to you? You should have understood that he was going to be alpha and will need his mate's power to stand stronger.” The Alpha threw at me. It seemed he was the only one who didn't take favour in my side.
“It is why I never blamed him for any of his actions. I was being selfish and didn't think about his own feelings…..’’
“He found his mate later on and brought her home. He completely neglected Alessia afterwards and focused on his mate, but he still made her carry out every duty without a single appreciation.’’ Lady Amora broke in, raw annoyance simmering in her voice.
Silence prepared the haze for a exile before the Alpha eventually spoke again.
‘‘So how did you get here?’’
“My husband, the Alpha, had gotten so mad at me after I made a terrible mistake. He locked me up in the dungeon for days, but I got help and fled. I was on the run for safety when I got concerned by rogues and ended up finding myself here.’’ I lied.
“Absolutely!’’ Lady Amora sounded, now stepping up to where I stood.
“And like I reported to you Alpha, we were able to recognise her by the unique mark on her back. She is my sister's daughter.” she added.
“That does t count. You barely knew her during her times at Silverstone pack, and from what I've known, that pack is a troublesome one.’’
‘‘She means no trouble.’’
“This is not about her. It's about her husband finding her here.’’ The Alpha insisted.
‘‘That is why we ask that you keep her presence here away from him.’’ Lady Amora said.
“That is impossible. In fact, I've already sent a message to her pack.’’ He blurted out.
