Chapter 126

Chapter 126
I can see Kane thinking. I am sure he didn’t expect this. We thought we had every measure in place. “I will send someone as well as send it to the police. She is breaking the no-contact order. I will also talk to dad and see if he will come around more to help and observe people. He might be able to catch something we are missing. I think you are right about that meeting. I will ask Dad to call him, too. He won’t want him to get hurt either. We can go home and watch a movie while the kids take a nap,” he says with a smile. He knows I can’t resist snuggles with him. I nodded my head and got back to eating.
When we are done eating, the guys grab the twins while I grab our stuff from my office here. When I get out of the door, I see them waiting for me on the porch. I smile and take Kane's outstretched hand. I look over at the corral for riding lessons. and see a young girl learning to ride. I know she is local and in Link’s online class, which he does 3 times a week. I know she is non-verbal from what he tells us; they get along well. The smile on her mom's face says riding is helping her a lot. She has wavy blonde hair and looks to be about my height. A smile like that says progress. I know she has been bringing her daughter here since we opened it. I talked to her personally because she only wanted the classes we offered. Her name was Sabrina, and her daughter is Marsha. Sabrina bought her daughter a beautiful black-and-white horse that has been trained to work with autistic people. They even pay for a class so that the whole class can come and work with the horses. They said she loved it and knew the others would love it. It became a whole thing. They even donate to our causes to help sponsor classes for kids whose families couldn’t afford to let their kids try it. Not just autistic individuals; we also help people with other disabilities.
Kane squeezed my hand, I looked up at him and smiled, “I love seeing how fast we grew.” I pointed over at all the kids and adults near the barn.
“I love seeing it too, baby. We did a good job. I think we will end up needing a new barn next year and a bigger garden now that the online orders started coming in for your texter-friendly menu.” Kane tells me when we get closer to the house.
“Yeah, I’ve seen that too. It isn’t my menu; it is Kendra’s menu. It was all her idea, and she made it with Link’s help.” I corrected him while scrunching up my nose. I won’t take credit for their creation. Their names are even on the menus as the ones who created them.
“My bad, I should have remembered that part. Can’t give their credit away. They did a good job, and they want to donate 20% of what is made from the menu to different foundations every month. I think the whole thing was an amazing idea. I love how you let her set up a whole section on the website to help. I know we didn’t want to do to-go orders, but she loves having her own section to take care of and hire for. She did an amazing job with the whole thing. She doesn’t know yet that the add-on next to the kitchen is going to be her own to-go kitchen. She will be able to do all orders this way, not just her menu.” Kane says.
“Yeah, she will be shocked when she sees it, that’s for sure. She is so insistent on staying in business with us, and now she will have a part of it that she created. I wanted to let her have her own spot for the to-go orders; this is her baby, and I don’t want to be over her shoulder all the time. I know she will need help, but this way she can ask for it, and I don’t want her second-guessing herself. Are you guys putting them down for a nap, or do you want my help?” I asked as we walked into the house.
“We got it, go take your shower. I know you want to write today, so you can do that while we take care of everything else. I put the frozen roast mixture you had in the freezer in the crockpot this morning, so dinner is covered. You take time for you, love.” Kane tells me, giving me a kiss and walking up the steps with Link and the twins.
“Ok, baby, see you in a bit.” I laughed out, thinking how the man does not think to say roast and vegetables. A grown man who watches cooking shows and has a wife who is a chef but doesn’t know what to call the food I labeled.
I walked to our room and took a shower. I put on a pair of comfy pants. and a tank top with one of Kane’s hoodies before braiding my hair. I walked into the study they had made for me, and I saw Kane already setting me up with tea. As I get closer to my recliner with the side table, I see he also put Ziplock bags of candies, chips, and other snack items for me. Kane knows I snack while I write. I wrap my arms around his back and lay my head on him. “Thank you, baby. I see you set me up until dinner. If you and the kids want to come so they can play on the floor, you can. I love the noise.” I tell him while he spins around to hold me back.
