Chapter 127
Chapter 127
“We will come here after their nap. The twins will love floor time. See you in a little bit.” Kane kissed me and walked out of the room.
That man gives me butterflies every time he kisses me or looks at me like I am the only woman in the world. He treats me in a way I don’t think I will ever get used to. I can’t believe I got so lucky. He often cuts flowers for me from our garden. I never know when either. I couldn’t focus on writing, so I picked a romance novel from the bookshelf that my editor said I might like. I thought it would be stupid, but it was different from my books. I love the way the author is so descriptive about the scenery.
A few hours later, everyone came in, and the twins were playing on the floor. I looked at them and took pictures with my phone. I love taking pictures of them. I want to make photo albums for them when they are older. They were trying to put shapes into the block with holes, with the shapes on it. They don’t get them in them, but they love smacking them with the shapes. I think they will need a soundproof room for drums. They love banging on things. I got on the floor and guided one of their hands with the shape in it to the correct hole, showing them where they go. Link was building something with Legos. I don’t know what he is making yet. We did this for a bit, and then Kendra came in and said the dinner was done if we were hungry. She had a big stain on her shirt; she must have been here to change it because she kept walking after. We grabbed the twins and walked to the kitchen, putting them in their highchairs. I started taking potatoes and carrots out of the crockpot to cut them up. I put them on 2 plates, and Kane started cutting them up with me. While we cut them up, Kendra walked by and said that she would be back later. We also added some of the shredded meat, cut up into baby bite-sized pieces. We gave them their food first, and Link has been making his own plates. He said he was old enough. We hear the door open, and Kane’s parents walk in.
“Hey, Mom, I thought you were going out for dinner tonight?” Kane asks. I guess his dad told him that.
“We were, but the restaurant we wanted to go to closed due to a gas leak. They had to shut down. We decided to come visit. I ordered us something to eat from another place we like that didn’t have a reservation or table available. We didn’t know if you had extra, but figured we would come to eat with you because we are going to go back and help at the B&B. A big party came in not too long ago. With the event happening in rooms 1 and 3 of the banquet hall, I told Kendra I would come to host for a bit so the host could help with serving.” Yolanda said. I guess the look on my face said I was worried because she started talking again, “I don’t mind, we all want you to rest, you do too much. The garden, the kitchen, the book, and I know you still do coding at night. I saw you the other night when we stayed that night. I am not judging; I get it. Sleeping is hard when you are used to moving all the time. Plus, you are making up for all the time you slept while pregnant. I did it when the kids all hit this stage where they sleep most of the night.” It looked like they got Mexican food from that restaurant they love, which is a small hole in the wall off Main Street. They are a reservation-only restaurant because they only have so many tables. They will do to-go orders for regulars, and they happen to be one of them.
I responded while making my plate, “There is enough if you guys want some, Kane used the stuff I had frozen in the freezer. I will let you guys do your thing. I know you have already put new CEOs in place for all your businesses for more grandparents' time. I am glad you want to be a part of the B&B. I love that it will be a family thing. I didn’t see this happening this way, but I love that we are doing it together.” I walked to the table and set the plate down, then went to the fridge to grab ranch, sour cream, and butter to take it to the table. I also grabbed the pitcher of iced tea, and Kane grabbed cups for everyone as well as sippy cups. I also grab the twins’ juice from the fridge.
“I am happy to be able to spend time with them and help with the B&B. I love what you are doing here. I can’t wait until we can expand with the spa. I know it will take a while for everything else to be built, but I am excited. Oh, if you have enough, we would love some. We love your cooking. I know Kane put it in the crockpot, but you seasoned everything. We can always eat this later. It warms up well. I figured Kane would tell you we did that. We don’t mind that you know; we told him he should tell you. Life is meant to be enjoyed, and working with you guys has been fun. We love the extra time we get with our grandbabies.” Yolanda said as she put the food she bought in the fridge and grabbed a paper plate to get food with Harry following her. I smiled while watching them get food. I love it when people love my food.
“Mom, I would not take credit for throwing her food in the crockpot using her own directions that come on the bag. I do make things on my own, but her food is way better than mine.” Kane says, holding his hands up with his fork in one hand. He was in the middle of making his potatoes, and sour cream fell on his head. We all started laughing. There was a lot of sour cream. Kane was laughing while trying to clean his hair. I decided I should probably help because he is just making it smear in his hair.
