Chapter 110

Chapter 110
“That sounds good. I am sure Kendra is having fun helping make a menu.” He answers before taking a bite of his food.
“She is taking a class, and it will help her with the section she is working on. She must make a menu with at least 3 vegan plates on it for a restaurant they are going to run for a week in her class during lunch. Her job is the menu and to help with prep. They have 3 people per team, and they all have 6 dishes they will offer with 5 teams so they each get their own day during the week and then on Saturday they will pick the best selling from each day and make one menu for the day. They plan to have to-go orders for parents. The menu will go out with the students on Friday night. She said it is 2 weeks away, so I let her work with me on our menu. They are her originals as much as mine. I even put under it ‘created by a student employee’ and her name under the ones she came up with on her own. On our website menu and our menus, we have here. She is going to go far, and I figured it would help with her resume as well. It will be proof she isn’t lie about her experience; I want to set her up for success.” I tell him and then take a bite of the oatmeal that he made.
“That sounds amazing, she told me a little about having a project but not that much. So, she is getting to work every part of your kitchen to learn everything she needs to know or is she just wanting to learn a specific position?” Kane asks, trying to understand what she wants to do.
“She is starting with prep and working her way up. She does work with me sometimes to learn other areas, but those will be during school breaks. She will be able to learn the basics for 2 different areas in the kitchen this summer and on the weekends during the school year she can keep doing those 2 areas as practice and then when she has those down, she can move on to a new area. She wants to know how to run the whole kitchen so she can help us or open her own place. I told her Joseph wouldn’t be cooking her forever so she could always be here with us as our chef. I told her she could even put a little bit away from each check, so she could buy in on the B&B if that’s what she wanted. Joseph will end up working in his own place by the time she graduates and could always buy him out for this location so he can reinvest it in his dream. I know he says Inn’s and B&Bs are what he wants but he looks so much happier at just a restaurant setting without the 24-hour guest thing. I have always wondered if he chose to go in on this with me because of Tina and Martin. He wants to work in just a restaurant and that changed when they decided to get involved with the B&B, but I also think it should be something you and Ace talk to him about just so he knows his best friends have his back and want what makes him happy. If that’s what he wants, he should be able to do that, and I don’t want him to be held back because he feels like he must stay in the B&B. We can own it just us; I know Ace is a silent partner and is mostly focused on the security side of things. We can always hire chefs for other locations. He probably wants to open his own chain of restaurants like Yaz did. He has always wanted to do a fusion kind of place, maybe we help him do that. I know they cut him off and froze a joint account they have with him, so he only has the account he set up with his paychecks in it. Yaz told me about it over coffee last week, she said he didn’t want you to know because you would worry too much but I think you should know because we don’t want him to over extended himself and not be able to reach the dream he wants.” I tell him and watch as his face changes to concern and anger at the situation his best friend is in.
“I will talk to him because I don’t want him stuck, the plan was him helping while opening what he wanted but when he put his money in this place, it was never his dream it was mine to own Hotel’s, Inn’s and B&B’s, he just wanted to help while he figured his place out. He had money in an account for his restaurant but from what Yaz told you it sounds like it was tied to Tina and Martin. I will talk to Ace and then we can talk to Joseph about buying him out so he can buy his own building and start his place. If he waits until he knows where and everything he wants, he will probably make a huge profit which will help him with his place. We will make sure he is ok even if we all become silent partners with him with a repayment plan, so it becomes all his. It doubts he would need much, and we can tell sign something that says as soon as our profit payout matches what we put it, he will be full owner. That way he doesn’t feel like he must ask for it back, even though he would be buying it from us, you know how he is with financial situations. I have this one baby; I will make sure he can do what he has been dreaming of. Kendra wants to work with us because she is afraid to go out on her own, but I think that would be a good start for her. Maybe instead of shares we can put it into a fund for her own B&B or whatever she wants to do. I don’t want it to come from her check though I want to make it something we do on the side as a benefit for employees that want to have a better future. They can choose to match what we put in based on a percentage of their check I was thinking 15% of what the make we donate to an account that is in their name, but it must be used for education or a business venture. It can even be for their kids' education if they would like it to because I know sometimes that is more important. I can get with our HR and legal so we can make sure it is set up properly for the staff before we tell them.” He tells me. I love how his mind works. He always finds a way to expand my original thoughts into something even better.
