Chapter 16 A GIANT LEAD FOR HER.
"Well, well, well." "What do we have here?" a familiar voice said from behind them. Kitara turned her head to the source of the sound and saw Alpha Mykel, the king himself; it was evident he was there to train as he was dressed in his training dress. She immediately bowed before him, as did the captain. Alpha Mykel's face lit up with a smile, and Kitara could see the glint of hunger in his eyes as he gazed at the bowl of beef soup on the table. Kitara felt a surge of nervousness and excitement as she realized that this might be her chance to win his favor and increase her chances of being chosen as his personal maid.
Alpha Mykel ordered them to stand up, and they quickly obeyed. Kitara could feel her heart pounding in her chest as she approached the Alpha and lifted the bowl of soup. She took a deep breath, steadying her hand as she offered it to Alpha Mykel.
"Your Highness, would you care to taste the soup?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly with nervousness.
Alpha Mykel's eyes lit up as he eagerly accepted the bowl from her. Kitara watched as he took a spoonful and savored the taste, his expression one of pure delight. She could see that he was thoroughly enjoying the soup, and her heart swelled with pride and relief.
"Delicious!" Alpha Mykel exclaimed, setting down the bowl back on her palms with a satisfied sigh. "You have done well, Kitara. This soup is a testament to your skill and dedication. "I am impressed."
Kitara felt a wave of relief wash over her, knowing that she had won a chance for his favor for the night. She could feel the captain's eyes on her, and she knew that he was impressed by her display of skill and tact. She felt a sense of camaraderie with him, knowing that they both shared a desire to serve the king with all their hearts, although she was only serving him for the purpose of her revenge.
"Would you like to train with me?" "I have heard about your intense archery skills, and I would like to see you in action," Alpha Mykel said with a smile on her face. "Yes, I will love your highness, but I dare not," Kitara said as she bowed before Alpha Mykel. Alpha Mykel looked at Kitara with a raised eyebrow. He had never encountered anyone who had turned down a chance to train with him, especially not someone with such reputed archery skills as Kitara. He was intrigued by her response and wanted to know more.
"What do you mean you dare not, Kitara?" he asked with a curious expression on his face.
Kitara bowed before him again and spoke softly, "Your Highness, I appreciate the offer, but I am just a cleaner here." I do not think it would be appropriate for me to train with you. "It would be a disgrace to you if you were seen training with someone of my lowly position."
Alpha Mykel could sense the sincerity in Kitara's words, but he was not satisfied with her explanation. He knew that there was more to her reluctance than just her position in the palace hierarchy.
"Is there something else, Kitara?" "Are you uncomfortable with the idea of training with me?" he probed gently.
Kitara hesitated for a moment before speaking again. "Your Highness, I am not fully dressed for training." I do not have the proper attire or equipment. And I have some dishes to serve to my friends. "I cannot neglect my duties for personal gain."
Alpha and Mykel nodded thoughtfully, understanding her concerns. "I see. Well, I appreciate your honesty, Kitara. But I do hope that you will consider training with me in the future. "Your archery skills are highly praised, and I would love to see them in action."
Kitara was disappointed that he didn't persist further; she looked dissatisfied; the captain saw this evident on her face and smiled; he understood her to some limit; to him, he knew she wanted to show her skills but only wanted to make sure she was not too available; unknown to him, Kitara wanted to show her skills only to impress the Alpha and get closer to him by training together a lot of time.
"There is no need for you to serve them; you can leave the meal here and they will get it themselves, and as for your dressing, I will arrange for a quick dress suitable for you," the captain said. Kitara was pleased to hear this and brims with happiness; she threw an appreciable glance to the captain, who just smiled at her. Alpha Mykel granted him the permission, and he went in to get a dress prepared for her.
As the captain went in, Kitara remained standing before Alpha Mykel, waiting for further instruction. She felt the weight of his gaze on her, and it made her feel slightly uncomfortable. She wondered what he was thinking—whether he was still considering her offer to train together or not.
After a few moments of silence, Alpha Mykel spoke again: "I must say, Kitara, you have quite an interesting personality." You seem to be a woman of many talents, and yet you choose to work as a servant in the palace. "May I ask why?"
Kitara felt a lump form in her throat at the question. She wasn't sure if she wanted to reveal her true intentions to him. After all, she was here for revenge, and revealing that would only complicate things.
"I have my reasons, Your Highness," she replied vaguely.
Alpha Mykel seemed to sense her reluctance and didn't push further. Instead, he changed the topic and started asking her about her archery skills. Kitara felt more comfortable discussing this and started telling him about her training and her achievements.
As they talked, the captain returned with a dress for Kitara. It was a simple yet elegant dress that suited her perfectly. Alpha Mykel smiled at her when she returned wearing the dress and complimented her on how beautiful she looked.
"Thanks for the compliment, your highness," Kitara said.
"Enough compliments, it's time to get down to real business" Alpha Mykel replied.
