Look at those creepy fingers
The dark ominous depressing lands were out of sight and we were nearing the forest where the silver pack was. Although we left the infected lands the werewolves still drowned in depression making me sigh. I hope they recover quickly, it'd be embarrassing for them to have such a fragile pride.
Everyone in the pack didn't expect us to return so quickly and Vale didn't bother to hide the truth. There was no victory party like the last time but I was glad that Vale at least thought of doing a cheesy speech and did not leave their morale on the ground.
"Today was a...failure! Never did we think, no never did I think that a legendary creature would appear and worse be corrupted by darkness. Its all on me! None of you are to be blamed, we all thought that these monsters were mindless and they only had the instinct to kill, kill and kill and move forward by killing just like a monster would and I as your leader didn't see that it was wrong for us to underestimate the monsters like that!
So this was a lesson, a very dangerous one. It's time we stop underestimating the monsters and anything, anyone that is our enemy. It is time for us to be warry, go crazy with wild speculations and be over prepared for anything. If we don't do that we won't survive...and, if we didn't have those two ladies standing right there I'm sure we would've lost some of our members today"
I could feel that he genuinely meant it when he said he should be blamed, he really believes that it is his fault which isn't true. No one could've guessed something as powerful as a guardian would appear. As he continued his voice rose making many of the pack members fell encouraged. He is really not a bad leader, fast at taking crucial decisions, not afraid to admit that he is wrong and even given credit to us me and Roseanne - woah wait!
Us? Well it's definitely Roseanne and because there was Arina, Olivia and myself standing near each other as the personnel of the elixir house I was a bit doubtful. Yet when his eyes stared right at me and Roseanne I realized that he meant me. This is such a weirdly comforta- cough! cough! cough! uncomfortable side of him. My god what did I almost say to myself just now.
"So to the two of you ladies thank you especially you Era, you surprised me today"
"..."
Well it looks like the lake guardian didn't completely steal the spotlight.
" There's no need for such words Alpha Vale, this is my home and you're all like family to me" you guessed right, those words definitely didn't come from me. It was Roseanne who politely replied to Alpha Vale ugh! umm Vale. Others smiled, I guess feeling very happy about being her family. Then the eyes shifted towards me and I wished to curse.
What was I supposed to say to his bizarre gratitude that came out of nowhere? Definitely not something similar to Roseanne's cause I'd vomiting. His eyes never moved from my figure, he kept them on me so that it was obvious that he wanted me to say something. I'm just gonna be my real authentic self and I'm sure it'll just be forgotten compared to what Roseanne said which would be great and we'd move on with life.
So I took a deep breath and " ahem! Thank you for...thanking me?" Hearing what I said I literally facepalm-ed myself knowing very well I ruined the emotional vibe.
"Pfft!"
Most struggled in suppressing their laughter while I smiled awkwardly wondering why he has hasn't continued with his cheesy speech.
" Era, from now on you're in charge of the elixir house and everyone part of the elixir house should listen to you. you are tasked to make as much of the new healing potions that you made as you can. You can also continue making other potions as long as they will be of help against monsters. The anti-poison potions are very compulsory and you also shouldn't stop making the usual healing potions."
I, together with someone else gasped when hearing Vale say I'm now in charge of the elixir house. The other person was actually Arina who was the one that was previously in charge. I imagine that this is such a huge blow for her, it must've been hard to hear me getting praised by Vale but this is just sad. Being demoted live in front of so many people is just cruel but Vale didn't seem to care and continued.
"Maya, Zik and Jason you'll be drilling the werewolves to their best shape, I've noticed they've gone lax. No more parties until the guardian's head from its body! It's time we fight like our lives are at stake because the truth is... our lives are at stake!"
...
Phew this feels amazing, the warm bath made me relax and returned my shocked mentality to its peak. I'm finally able to move freely without Zik tailing my back, I don't know if that's very wise though. There's still a traitor which means I'm not really safe. Oh well you win some and you loose some, don't know if I used this saying right or not.
I made a cute messy bun with my curls and wore navy jeans and a black sweater. I had a lot to do today so I rushed out of my room only to bump into someone who seemed to be passing my door. This person accidentally dropped a silver ring on the floor and I was just about to help the person but stopped myself when seeing who it was.
Arina!
It's five o'clock in the morning, I woke up early because there was a lot I wanted to do. Seeing Arina up at this hour was very surprising but wait! Isn't that the ring given to her to protect her from the mind powers of a vampire.
" I took it off just now because it's very tight around my finger. It's not like the pretty bracelet that you were given!" She was quick to explain which I was confused why she did. I don't care what she does but I frowned when seeing her hands, the fingers were so creepy. It was as though the bones wore tight clothes, the clothes were the skin of course. Now how the hell can a ring be tight on those fingers.
