Chapter 95 - Lost
401 St. John's Street.
“How can I ever repay you?” Dan’s said as he hugged Kate in appreciation.
“I didn’t do it for you, so no need.”
“It doesn’t matter.” Dan gently broke the hug. “Whatever you do for Mary, you do for me.”
“I just wish you two a happy life.”
Mary smirked. “Thanks, Kate. You just saved me from being consumed with my powers.”
“I am happy to help. Just feel free to visit me in the future for any help. I can assure you, I will be here forever.” She smiled broadly, hugging Mary. She’s happy to meet her. Never has she seen anyone with such an amount of power like Mary. “You two should take care of each other and stay out of trouble.”
“Once again, thanks,” Dan expressed.
He leads the way to the door. Getting to the glass door, he stopped and opened the door for Mary. He points the way for her with a fancy smile on his face. He then followed after her. Like before, he opened the car for her and after she had stepped in, he gently closed the door. He bid Kate bye and then ran across the driver's side.
Getting into the car, he glanced at Mary with a smile. “Are you all right?” He’s worried that the adjustment would have triggered something in Mary.
She flashed a dazzling smile. “I just feel like I am reborn.”
“Good. Happy to hear,” he said. “We should be on our way now.” He inserted the key into the ignition and started the car.
The wheels rolled over a puddle of water. With the windows rolled up, he turns on the AC and drives through the next streets.
As the jeep turned softly to the next left turn—another similar black jeep past them. Riding on the other jeep were Scott, Evelyn, and Matt. They didn’t get to see Dan or Mary. They are in haste to 401 St. John’s Street and don’t even notice the jeep Mary was riding on just past them.
Scott was the one driving, he kept his eyes open to the address they were looking for, Not quite long, his gaze was drawn to 401 St. John’s Street.
He steeled his wheels toward the magic shop and pulled over.
“What is our daughter doing in a magic shop?” Evelyn’s thoughts flew with many more.
“We will find out soon,” Scott said, turning off the ignition.
They all alight from the car at once. Scott leads the way to the magic shop. He pushed open the glass door. When he walked in, he continued to hold the door for Evelyn and her brother Matt, before closing the door after him.
“Hello!” Evelyn yelled, growing impatient. “Mary, it’s Mummy and Daddy!”
Kate stepped out from behind a shelf. She narrowed her eyes, fixing her gaze on them. “Here isn’t a daycare,” she said. “Didn’t you read the sign outside? This is a magic sh…”
“We know that,” Scott blurted, interrupting her. “We are here to pick up my daughter.”
Kate furrows her brows. “Looks like someone is deaf.” She took a few steps closer and lashed out harshly. “Here isn’t a daycare!”
“Perhaps, you didn’t hear me well,” Scott glared with hostility. “If another word that comes out from your mouth is not…”
“I will ask you guys to leave or I call the cops!” Kate blurted, pushing back Scott’s words.
Scott’s eyes hardened with rage. He moved toward Kate faster than the eye could see, thrusting his hand on her throat. He held him against the shelf and snarled wildly at her. His eyes turned red as his fangs popped out, ready to puncture into her fragile skin.
“Where is Mary? What have you done to her?”
He’s growing larger inside every moment. He feels like taking out Kate and everything around him.
Kate chuckled weirdly. “No need to show me your fangs. I already know what you are immediately I set my eyes on you.” She peered toward Matt and Evelyn and continued. “And I know they are gypsies. Just like the girl you are looking for.”
Evelyn flew into a fit of rage. She drew closer and stood by Kate. “Just tell me where my daughter is or you will die!”
“Easy grumpy—you don’t come into my abode to make threats. Be careful of what you wish for!”
“You left me with no choice but to have a peek.”
Evelyn grabbed Kate with both hands. She held Kate’s head firmly and did not let go. All she needed was answers and since Kate wasn’t willing to cooperate, she had to get it herself by invading Kate’s mind.
“That’s enough!” Kate yelled. She can’t have a gypsy poking around her mind.
Her yelling came with a sonic wave blast, throwing Matt back and slamming Scott and Evelyn away. The sonic wave was so powerful that it almost knocked down the shelves.
Matt rushed to help his sister up. “Are you all right?”
“I will be when Mary is rescued from that hybrid!” she grunts.
“What?” Scott sprang back to his feet. “What did you see?”
“Our daughter was brought here by Dan and they left together. She doesn’t look scared or felt she was in trouble.” A sob escaped her lips. She wasn’t allowed deep into Kate’s mind before Kate blasted them with a sonic wave from her yelling.
Scott’s lips tightened as his forehead creased. He turned toward Kate but she was nowhere to be found. “Where is she?!” he yelled.
Evelyn and Matt lifted their face to the direction they saw her last but she was nowhere. “She’s gone,” Evelyn said. Even though her eyes had blurred with tears, she could still see that Kate was gone.
“What do we do now?” Matt asked.
Before anyone could answer, a blue light shone in their midst. It was a blue portal. This drew them aback as they gave a close gaze, expecting someone to come out from the portal.
