Chapter 27 He Is My Husband

"You guys..." The police seemed very curious about our relationship.

I pointed at Henry, with a smile on my lips, but tears involuntarily slid down from the corners of my eyes. "He is my husband."

How ridiculous. My husband was helping his lover bully his wife at the police station.

I had never argued with Henry in public. No matter how excessive his actions were before, I never exposed our relationship.

Henry was the head of the Phillips Group, and every word and action of his was closely watched by the public.

I was concerned about his reputation and didn't want to make a scene, so in the past, when he was with those women, even bringing them in front of me to provoke me, I silently endured it.

But today, I didn't want to endure it anymore. I had never done anything to wrong Henry, so why should I bear the bitter consequences?

We had known each other for so many years; he should know what kind of person I was.

When I initially refused his proposal, it was out of necessity, but he didn't even investigate and just assumed I betrayed him.

For so many years, he had always thought I was a mercenary woman. So he married me but treated me badly.

I heard two young police officers discussing, "This is the first time I've seen a wife and a mistress causing a scene at the police station, with the husband helping the mistress."

"No wonder the mistress was so arrogant earlier, provoking the wife with impunity."

"The wife is really pitiful; this man is despicable, treating his wife like this; he will get his comeuppance sooner or later."

Another police chimed in, "Watch what you're saying; don't forget your identity; as police officers, gossiping like this, be careful I report you."

The two young police officers then shut up, looking at me with sympathy, as if they had never seen such a bizarre couple like us.

Henry frowned. "You're willing to fight me over a cat?"

He stared at me menacingly, with anger in his eyes.

"Yes." I looked at him coldly, my tone resolute.

Henry gritted out, "Amelia, you're something else. today I'm going to kill your cat. I want to see if you'll really fight me over it. We are married; this cat is our joint property; it scratched Aria; it should pay the price."

Henry stormed over, and Oliver in my arms let out a pitiful sound, seemingly sensing the danger.

I gently petted his head, soothing his emotions. "Henry, let's get a divorce."

As I said this, my body was trembling, my emotions were mixed, and for a moment I couldn't tell if I felt relieved or heartbroken.

Henry's eyes widened in disbelief, a flash of emotion I couldn't understand passed through his eyes. "You're divorcing me over this cat?"

I frowned, disliking Henry's tone. I covered Oliver's ears. I had had Oliver for over a week, and I felt that Oliver understood human speech.

He would nuzzle my hand when I was sad, lie on my lap when I was working.

When I called his name, he would meow in response; every day he played happily in the ward; and when I patted the bed, he knew to jump up.

I didn't want him to hear Henry's harsh words.

I calmly looked into Henry's eyes and slowly spoke, "Henry, we've been married for three years, but we've long been estranged; why continue to torment each other? You've already fallen for someone else; there's no love between us anymore; you only have hatred for me; you've tormented me for three years; any resentment should have dissipated by now; let me go and let yourself go too."

Henry's expression was unpredictable, seemingly suppressing something. "Divorce? Amelia, dream on; you haven't repaid what you owe me; you'll never escape my grasp."

He gripped my wrist tightly, as if he wanted to crush my bones. I knew he was warning me.

I struggled desperately, but the tighter he held, the more pain I felt, my body almost collapsing.I frowned. "Henry, you're hurting me."

Henry said, "I want you to feel the pain, so you'll remember this; if you dare mention divorce again..."
