Chapter 50 CHAPTER FIFTY
Chapter 50 CHAPTER FIFTY
Alyssa
I walked into the The Vue restaurant, one of the many restaurants White Enterprise owns, it’s by far the best in the city.
I was a little late due to some unfinished work, I had sent my driver to pick up Sophia first, just like I promised her I would when we had a call yesterday.
I saw her right away.
She was sitting at a table near the window looking a little nervous, when she saw me her eyes got wide as she jumped up from her chair so fast it almost fell over.
"Alyssa!" she squealed and she ran over to me and threw her arms around me in a big, tight hug.
A few people at other tables looked over at us with weird glances.
They probably thought we were being too loud but who cares, I hugged her back just as tight. It felt so good to see her again.
"Sophia," I said my voice a little choked up. "It's so good to see you."
We finally let go and sat down at our table.
"You look amazing!" Sophia said, her eyes shining. "This place is so fancy and thr driver I can't believe it!"
I smiled at her. "I told you I would make things right I promised you a better job and a better life and certainly keeping my promises."
We started catching up.
When I promised her a good job last year after Rachel got her fired from the small cafe she worked I made sure Marcus gave her a spot at the White Enterprise, she was working in the marketing department and loving it.
"And everyone is so nice to me!" she said. "They all know I'm friends with the CEO!" She giggled.
Then her face got a little serious. "Alyssa... why didn't you ever tell me? All those years we were friends.I thought we told each other everything. Why didn't you tell me you were... you know... a billionaire?"
I took a deep breath this was hard to explain.
"Sophia," I said, looking at my friend. "I am so sorry I lied to you I really am but you have to understand that I had to. Being rich is not all that, it comes with a lot of drama and I’ve always been the one to keep things lowkey, I didn’t like the attention especially after losing my parents, most friends I made back then only want to be my friend for my money or worse they would want to hurt me to get to my family and in the end they succeded”
I played with my napkin. "When I met Damon I was so in love I thought he loved me for me I kept the secret from him too and for seven years I pretended to be a normal poor girl I thought it was the only way to know if people really loved me and after my parents died... it just felt safer to keep hiding to be a nobody… life was so simple and humble, and it was something always wanted for myself, nothing else. I was willing to give away everything for Damon but—"
Sophia reached across the table and held my hand her eyes softening.
"I get it," she said softly. "I understand It must have been so lonely carrying that big secret all by yourself and I'm not mad at you Alyssa. I could never be mad at you I'm just sad you felt you had to hide from me."
"Thank you Sophia," I whispered.
Then her face hardened a little. "And that bastard Damon he had no idea what he had did he? He threw away a queen for... for what? For that Rachel? How fucked up is he?"
I nodded with a chuckle, “oh darling, hehad no idea he thought he won a lottery when he choose Rachel over me."
"I hope you make him pay” Sophia said her voice fierce. "I hope you give him a taste of his own medicine… he deserves every crap life has to offer… that I greatful mastered needs to know that he messed with the wrong person. I hope he loses everything. He deserves it after what he did to you."
I looked at my best friend feeling a warmth in my chest that had been missing for a long time.
"Don't worry Sophia," I said, my voice cold and sure. "He will infact he’s just starting to learn just how much he fucked up”
“Asshole”
I laughed, suddenly feeling something cold and wet was poured all over my head and back.
I gasped jumping up from my chair my expensive dress was now soaked I turned around shocked and angry trying to see who had done this.
Then I saw her face.
The face looked oddly farmilar but I couldn’t point where exactly I have seen that face.
Then it clicked, Chloe Luke's girlfriend the one who had insulted me and warned me against Luke.
"Well well," Chloe said holding an empty wine glass. She had a nasty smile on her face. "Look what we have here. What are you doing in a fancy rich restaurant like this? Did you slut around to get the money to afford it? Or did you steal it?"
Sophia immediately stood up her face red with anger. "You bitch How dare you!" She looked like she was about to jump on Chloe.
I put a hand on Sophia's arm to stop her. "No, Sophia. Don't."
Chloe laughed. "Manager! Where is the manager of this place?" she shouted. "You need to throw this woman out she clearly doesn't belong here, she is a gold-digging slut who is probably here to trick some rich man!"
I stood there annoyed feeling insulted but at the same time amazed.
Amazed at how stupid she was being.
The manager a man in a sharp suit came rushing over. "What is going on here?" he asked his eyes clicking on me, widening in shock and a little bit of fear.
"Ms. White!" he said his voice nervous as he m began bowing slightly. "We are so sorry we did not expect you here today, we were not informed of your arrival”
Chloe stared at the manager, her mouth hanging open then she started yelling again. "Why are you calling her 'Ms. White'? Are you stupid? She is a nobody, a fucking nobody, she is is a cheap, poor gold digger"
The manager looked at Chloe like she was crazy. "Madam," he said his voice now cold and firm. "This is Ms. Alyssa White she is the owner and CEO of White Enterprise, she owns this restaurant. In fact she owns this entire building."
Chloe's face went from red to white.
She looked like she had been punched in the stomach. "What? No... that... that's impossible!"
The manager turned back to me ignoring her. "Ms. White again I am so very sorry for this... this disturbance. Please let us get you a dry dress immediately."
I looked at Chloe who was now just staring at me her whole body shaking.
I gave her a small, cold smile.
"Thank you manager," I said calmly. "And please see that this mad woman is escorted from the building. She is no longer welcome in any of my establishments."
The manager nodded quickly. "Of course, Ms. White right away."
He signaled to two large security guards, who came and took Chloe by the arms.
