Chapter 49 CHAPTER FOURTY NINE
Chapter 49 CHAPTER FOURTY NINE
Alyssa
I hissed my hands clenched into fists breathing heavily as mind was replaying every word of the argument with Damon.
To think he has the audacity to come to my company and threaten me, he’s forgetting that I am no longer the Alyssa Hall he treated as trash and he’s finding it hard to digest the new Alyssa White, I needed to teach him harder, I needed to implant it in his thick skull.
Suddenly there was a soft knock on the door that snaps be back to reality.
I mumbled a come in and Marcus walked in looking a little nervous.
"Ms. White?" he said his voice careful. "I am sorry to disturb you."
Marcus had been oddly silent and not so confidence like he usually was, in not sure if it’s the guilt of abandoning me for a year or whatever it is that was eating him up.
He just felt off.
I took a deep breath forcing myself to calm down I walked back to my chair and sat down. "It's fine Marcus. What is it?"
He came closer to my desk holding a file. "I have the final report on the financial transactions between your uncle and Johnson Holdings."
"Show me," I said my voice flat.
He opened the file and placed it in front of me pointing to a number that was very huge "This is the total amount your uncle, Mr. Martin lent to Damon Johnson's company over the past year. It is a direct loan from White Enterprise accounts."
I stared at the number.
It was even more than I thought my own family's money used to keep my enemy afloat.
Then Marcus pointed to another even bigger number. "And this... this is the total amount we believe your uncle embezzled from company funds over the last five years, a large portion of it also seems to have found its way to the Johnsons through fake companies and deals."
I looked from one huge number to the other.
How did Marcus let all that happen, I thought he was suppose to be taking care of the company?
"I want it back," I said my voice quiet but firm.
Marcus looked surprised. "All of it?"
"Every single dollar," I said, looking straight at him. "The loans, the embezzled money every penny that my uncle stole and gave to them I want it all returned to my company immediately."
"But Ms. White," Marcus said his voice worried. "That is a very large amount an impossible amount if I may add and with the news that we are ending our partnership... well other investors are pulling out of Johnson Holdings too their stock price is falling very fast. I do not think Damon's company can pay this back. They will be bankrupt."
I did not care. "That is none of my concern," I snapped. "They took my money and I want it back, I don't care how they get it, or what they go through in getting it all I care about is my money and I want what is mine."
Marcus was silent for a moment as he looked at the numbers again. "It will destroy their company completely."
"Good," I said, without any emotion. "They should have thought about that before they stole from me."
I looked at Marcus his eyes weary. "Send them a formal notice today, informing them they have thirty days to return every dollar and not in installments, I want the full amount of the loans and the embezzled funds, failure to do that we will sue them for everything they have left. We will take the rest in court."
Marcus nodded slowly.
He could see I would not change my mind.
"Very well Ms. White. I will have the legal department prepare the notice immediately."
He gathered the file and turned to leave at the door he paused and looked back at me. "I am sorry," he said softly. "I am sorry that all of this happened."
Then he left, closing the door quietly behind him.
I hissed leaning back on the chair, this had just began but I was already getting exhausted signing the death warrant for Damon's company had a satisfactory smirk play on my lips.
He has no idea how much I’m willing to do to have him crawling to the ground.
My phone buzzed on my desk and I looked at the screen.
It was a text from an unknown number.
Unknown: It's lunch time. Come down to the cafteria and eat.
I knew it was Ares it had to be, I shook my head and typed back.
Me: I'm not hungry for food.
The reply came instantly.
Ares: I know what you're hungry for. I can taste you just thinking about it.
My face felt warm as I typed quickly.
Me: You're a pervert.
Ares: only for you princess…And if you're not down here in five minutes, I'm coming to your office. I'll lock the door and feed you exactly what you're craving.
I bit my lip trying not to smile as I typed one last message.
Me: Five minutes.
The way Ares made me feel wasn't just unhealthy It was a threat to my heart one which i promised to never feel but somehow the memories of his hands on my skin felt like a brand, our intimacy made me forget a lot of my problems.
I had spent a year in a cage building walls of ice around my heart and he was melting them with a single touch and I couldn't afford to be soft.
I couldn't afford to feel.
Not when the last time it happened it didn’t end well.
I got up and headed out stopping by the reception
"Good afternoon, Ms. White. Your five o'clock is with—"
"Cancel them," I said my voice flat and tired
Sarah blinked. "I'm sorry? Cancel all of them?"
"All of them," I confirmed stopping at the elevator door. I didn't turn to look at her. "I am not to be disturbed for any reason. No calls. No visitors for the rest of the day. Understood?"
There was a slight pause. "Yes, Ms. White. Understood."
