THE END OF BEGININING
THE END OF BEGININING
Chapter 181.
Claudia's pov.
The silence was loud.
The air thick with anticipation as I continued to stare at the boulder in confusion.
“I……”
The words felt heavy on my lips and with it a heavy heart as realisation dawned on me.
“I can't ... .I can't move it,” I whispered to myself, staring at the boulder that had refused to come under my command.
I wasn't paying too much attention when a hand gently pressed my shoulder, “Perhaps it's just stress, you just woke up…..you should give it some time,”
My mother would have been right, that was if I hadn't felt the odd feeling ever since I had woken up, I felt like something was missing, like I was incomplete, “No, this…..this is different,” I hesitated not wanting to believe this would be true.
These were the consequences they spoke of, the deal I had made for the price of using dark magic, they had all warned me about it and I was already prepared for what was stopping, at least that was what I thought.
Warren held my hands close, his attempts to encourage me or console me that it wasn't all gone were futile because he knew it was.
Searching inside of me for that white light and I couldn't find any, it was truly gone.
Normally I would have felt like shit, to throw a tantrum and plead for my powers because they made me who I was and now, I don't think I would get over this feeling.
“They are gone Warren,” I stated in a flat time, “And I'm fine with it,”
The way he stared at me like I could break or fall apart any second. I offered them a smile, “Excuse me,” I needed some time alone.
I walked away from all of them with no direction in mind, just letting my footsteps have a thought of their own for once.
My mind was clouded as I remembered the moon goddesses words, a price had to be paid and this was it. I wondered if my wolf was also intact as well or I had lost that too.
Looking within myself once again, taking deep calming breaths, I could feel a stir at the back of my mind, signifying a presence.
That was all I needed to know that she was there. I guess the moon goddess took pity on me, taking just one part of me in return.
It was my choice, hence why I didn't regret it. It was either this or the fate of everyone, be that if Seth's imposter and if that had happened, the guilt would probably kill me.
Sighing, I turned my gaze towards the blue sky, the fluffy clouds that floated amicably, peacefully, with no hitches.
It was nice knowing that it was all over now, Sage behind bars, croft gone as well, although we were unable to find the cure and now we would have to relay this message to the others at the seaside.
But what we have done would go down in history and I couldn't have been more contempted. Also there were minimal casualties as well.
I lingered alone for a few minutes before I decided to return to the others. They had resumed their renovations but I couldn't be of help.
A smile crept up the sides of my lips, “Is there any other way I could be of help?”
I pulled their attention and I could see the looks of pity that was cast in my direction, although I didn't like it, there was nothing I could do about it.
“Perhaps you can help me with reaching out to the other packs, I need to send out some information,” she pinched the corner of her skirt and stepped out of the rumble carefully.
My father, Denzel, a rather quiet man, or perhaps I just hadn't had the time to speak with him since I had woken up, took my mother's outstretched hand and helped her out of the rubble, placing a chaste kiss on her knuckles.
I couldn't help but smile at their intimacy and thanked the moon goddess for bringing them back together.
The gentleness to which he caressed her, has not been seen in many, what a true mate really looks like. And to think they almost never got together because the society decided wolves and witches were never meant to be together.
I nodded towards my father, my lips pressed into a firm line before my mother grabbed my hands and led me away.
It was still a bit awkward and I wasn't used to him being………alive I guess.
My mother led me to the section of the palace which had already been renovated, it looked rather pristine, if it weren't for the mere fact that I was the center of destruction, I would have never known a battle transpired.
“Don't worry dear, you'll get used to it,”
My brows arched in surprise, I didn't know she had picked it up in it, “It's just…..” I shrugged, trying to find the words to explain, “Odd….his presence,”
My mother Ince again repeated that I would get used to it, “Just the same way you did with me,” a beaming smile attached across her cheeks, “Now back to those letters,”
“What exactly are they about?” my curiosity got the better of me.
We entered the office and I couldn't help but feel as though Croft's essence still lingered as this was once a place of his, and the secret door that led to the tunnels as well behind the shelves.
My mother glanced towards that direction as well but didn't say anything about it, “The letters are meant for all packs……….as well as covens,”
My brows twitched in surprise. Not for a second did I think she was going to go there.
“It was high time this feud came to an end, and I'm going to try my best to make that happen,”
