Chapter 37 Muted Howls

Chapter 37 Muted Howls
I looked at Alex, stunned, she said that. Could she read minds? There was no way she could. Alex took in my shocked expression.

“Don’t worry, I can not read minds.” She smiles sweetly. She turned away, grabbing something I couldn't quite see from one of the drawers. She turns back around with what looks like a folded up medical gown. I look down at it. “I will need you to put this on. You can keep your bra and underwear on. This will just make it easier for me to assess the damage and treat your wounds.” Alex explains.

“I think I can do it.” I sheepishly reply.

“Okay while you do that, I’m going to turn around and prep some IV fluids for you. Luka would kill me if I left and you fell off the table while you were under my care.” Alex snickered at that and turned around. Something about that felt weird, but I pushed that thought to the side. I didn’t have time to worry about that. I worked on getting my top off. Oh my god the pain was insane.

WHY ARE YOU HURTTING NOW

I am trying to take my shirt off. I tell the wolf mentally. This was crazy. I was talking to a wolf in my mind.

STOP THAT AND REST.

I am being treated. I will once it's done. With that I am just met with Growling from him. He was a cranky sort.

“What is the deal with the black wolf?” I asked Alex. She must know something.

“What?” She turns around. Wait maybe she didn’t She was looking at me like I was crazy. Was I about to be tossed in a mental hospital.

“I thought because your close with Luka you might know about the wolf.” I Tried back tracking feeling unsure and self-conscious.

“I do know about him. How do you? I thought…” Alex trailed off. Seeming to question how she was going to proceed. She seemed unsure too. “What has Luka told you?” She asked.

“Uh, Nothing really. He can speak to it too.” I answered. Her eyes widen. Shit, was I going to send both of us to the mental hospital.

“You, can speak to him too? AND YOU STILL DON’T KNOW WHY?” She seemed surprised about this.

“Am I supposed to?” I was feeling so confused.

“Fuck.” She muttered. “I am sorry, but it is not my place. I think he needs to explain. If he doesn’t I am going to kick his ass.” She smiled at me. But all I felt was pity. There was something going on, and I felt completely in the dark. What the hell was going on? I decide to let it go for now.

“Can you help me get this on. It hurts like hell.” I tell her.

“Absolutely. I am going to give you a shot first that will help with some of the pain. But not all because I need to know what hurts and doesn’t. This is not going to be easy, and it's going to hurt before I can make you better.” She gives me a sympathetic smile.

“Okay.” I nod my head, and I watch her go in a drawer and pull out a needle. I watch her draw a purple liquid into the syringe. “What is that?” I asked. I have never seen pain meds like that before.

“Its something to help us get through this exam.” She winks at me. That seemed like an odd thing to do. Luka trusted her. I just needed to trust he wouldn’t put me in danger. I nodded my head and I felt the sting of the needle. I gasped as I felt a burning sensation fill my veins. OH MY GOD. I wanted to claw at it.

WHAT IS GOING O….

I felt the Black wolfs voice start to fade as the burning slowed. I looked at her, and she set the Needle down and helped put the medical gown on. It still hurt like hell.

“That didn’t help with the pain.” I accused her.

“Yeah… Sorry, I lied, I wasn’t sure if he was listening, it was really for….” Her words are cut off.

BANG BANG BANG

“She’s Fine Luka.” Alex called out.

“ARE YOU SURE!” He called out.

“Yes! He was already bothering her; I had to silence him.” She replied.

“What?” I hear Luka ask the same thing at the same time. She silenced him? The wolf? Can she do that? That didn’t sit well with me. I didn’t understand what was going on.

“She was just trying to get the gown on. He must have sensed her pain again and talked to her.” Alex explained to Luka through the door.

“How did you know?” I asked. I didn’t tell her.

“I am good at reading body language. I could tell one of the wolves was talking to you. You had a typical annoyed teen look on your face.” Alex giggled. One of the wolves? Did she know about the white one from my dreams? Were there other ones I didn't know about?

“ALEX” Luka practically growled out her name like a warning.

“HEY! This would be easier if she knew.” Alex pointed her finger at the door like she wanted to dig it into Luka. That made me giggle a little.

“I know. I am waiting on the others. I don’t know all the information, but they might hold the rest of the puzzle. Maybe together we can make sense of it all.” Luka explains.
“Okay, understood, Did you at least grab all the things I asked for?” Alex’s asked.

“Yea.” Luka replied.

“Hey.” Alex turned to me. “Are you comfortable with him coming in here? I know you're wearing the gown.” I thought about it.

“Yeah.”

“Okay, if you change your mind let me know. I’ll kick his ass right on out.” She smiles at me.

“Oh! Before I forget! No we have never slept together or anything like that. I am his cousin.” She winked at me before opening the door for Luka.
