Chapter 36 Comparison Is a Cruel Thing

Chapter 36 Comparison Is a Cruel Thing
It was another 10-minute drive just to reach the cabin. I couldn’t believe it. How much of this land did he own to be able to do this? I couldn’t even fathom it. I was shocked when we reached the so-called cabin.

“You call this a cabin?” I asked. I bet if I looked in the mirror, my eyes would be on the verge of falling out of my head.

“Yeah? It’s nothing special, just something I use when I need to get away.” Luka answered,

This was some gross overspending, given how luxurious this so-called cabin was. This thing was bigger than my house and at least 10 times nicer than anything I have ever lived in, and he comes here to escape. What in the world did Luka need to escape from? I am lost in my thoughts while looking at the “cabin” when a loud shriek breaks my thoughts.

“LULU!!!” A smoking hot blonde came barreling out of the cabin and jumped into Luka’s arms. He caught her and put her down right away. It still made my stomach sour. I didn’t even notice him get out of the car. He was over by my door like he was going to open it for me.

“Alex, you need to quit jumping at me like that. It's not appropriate.” Luka scolds the woman. She looked like a model.

“Boo, you are no fun.” Alex, the hot blond,e pouted, and even that was attractive.

"If you are done pouting like a toddler, I need you to check out Danni for me. Someone attacked her." Luka pointed towards me sitting in the passenger seat.

“Oh my goodness, you poor thing. Let’s get you inside.” The woman called Alex said to Luka.
Luka opened my door, and I tried to get up by myself. It did not go well. I felt the world come up from under me. Thankfully, I felt strong, warm arms and the scent of sandalwood and citrus steadied me.

“Whoa, beautiful. Let me help you. You are in no condition to walk right now.” I wanted to argue. But he was right. I had no strength; almost all the strength I had had made me face-plant.
“Okay.” I agreed. I was expecting him to hold a hand out to me, but nope. He lifted me gently, bridal style.

“Is this necessary?” I asked.

“It is when you try to walk alone and almost face plant,

” Luka answered.

With that, I couldn't argue. I ignored the burning feeling on my face and let him carry me inside. I ignored my embarrassment as the contents blew me away. Now I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it wasn’t the simple rustic decor. Outside was large and expensive-looking, especially with all the land and expensive security. Surrounding the land. I felt like I had been transported to somewhere simple and comfortable.

“What is with that face?” Luka asked peering down at me.

“Its… so simple and rustic?” I answered hand gesturing to what I was assuming was the living room.

“Ha, I told you I came here to escape and relax. I love the simple rustic decor. It’s relaxing.” He explained with a smirk.
“I am going to bring you down to the exam room. Its nothing fancy and Alex is going to exam you.” Luka explained.

“You have an exam room? For what” I couldn’t hide my disbelief from him.
Luka chuckled “for hunting accidents.”

“And is Alex a nurse or something?” I asked.

“Shes a Vet” Luka said looking away.

“A vet? I am not a pet!” I scolded.

“Humans and animals are not all that different,” Alex said, coming up behind us.
“Oh, I am sorry if I offend you. I was just caught off guard.” Embarrassment clawed at my throat and burned on my cheeks.

“No worries! I get it.” Alex's giggle was even beautiful. “Luka, can you get her something clean to wear? And lots of wraps and ice?” Alex told Luka as we made it into what I was assuming was the exam room.

“Yeah, I can do that.” Luka said as he placed me gently down on the large exam table. “Anything else?” Luka asked her.

“Yeah, some soda and peanut butter crackers,” She said as she was turning on some machines and getting tools out.

“What are those for?” I asked confused on what that would do.

“I saw how you stubbled and almost fell, I am assuming your blood sugar might be low. Those will help.

“Oh.” Was all I could say to that. Not only was she beautiful she was smart. I wonder if Luka likes her or if she likes him. She would be perfect for him. She was smart and her beauty paired well with his. My heart sank at those thoughts. I know what he told me. But how could he like me when there was someone like her in his life? I could never compete.
“You okay?” Luka was in my line of vision hand on my forehead. Concern creasing his brow. Blue eyes bright and assessing.
“Yea. Just some negative thoughts twirling in my head…” I admitted.

“Oh. It's okay, beautiful.” He kisses me on the forehead. “We won't let chad get away with what he has done.” He reassures me. “I will be back in a few minutes with the items Alex  requested. She will keep you safe. I promise.”

“Okay…” I felt ashamed for thinking that. I almost forgot what happened and why I was here. I was being so stupied and childish.

Luka left the room and It was just me and Alex. She placed a blood pressure cuff on my arm and clip on my finger that checked my heart beats. I couldnt look at her while she checked my vitals.
“Blood pressure is a little low, but considering what you have been through I am not surprised.” Alex told me as she put the blood pressure machine away and wrote something down on some paper. She leaned in close to me with a flash light checking my vision. As she did she said. “So, I am guessing if you want to know if Luka and I slept together?”
