Chapter 0228
"What the fuck is this?" I snapped at the man I trusted with my life.
"Saw her in their little rescue ground and I had to see if she was as gullible as she looked. She is." he chuckles lowly. "Told her we were coming to save you and she came running like the perfect little Robinhood to save her lover."
"If you hurt a hair on her "
"Save it," he cuts me off. "There is something I want you to see." He pushes her forward.
Feyre's eyes remain on me, anger swirling in them. I couldn't tell what was for, her being tricked or the entire situation.
"We don't have time to waste, so before the man we are all expecting comes here, I'll help you all with a little backstory." He nods to me. "Starting with you. The alpha king hasn't been seen for over two centuries, you think the council will send a new alpha to kill him? You are good, but not that good."
He shakes his head and then takes off his sunglasses. His familiar face comes into view, just that now I see through the bullshit I was fed. "And I should introduce you both." He pats Feyre on the head.
I feel the sudden urge to break his hand. I hold myself and Cassian back, assuring him I wouldn't let them hurt her. We need to wait for who is getting here first.
"Feyre, that is Jade, I don't think you met her twin sister up there but they are your siblings. Same mother and father, long story and we sadly don't have time."
Her eyes widened and she looked over my shoulder at where Joel and his wife were.
I'm guessing that explains everything I needed to know, but it left us with an even bigger question. How the fuck?
That is just the question. How is that possible?
"Now, the final one." He pauses for dramatic effect.
A loud noise, kind of like what happened when we first ended up here, happens again, except this time, it is one of the walls that opens, giving way for light to stream through the place. I have to squint because of the brightness.
Someone s walking toward us, dressed to the nines in a suit. I can't see his face because of the brightness and everything but when he comes closer to where we are, my breath catches in my throat and as much as I would like to say I didn't see it coming, I'm not that
surprised.
"Angus, it is never a pleasure." Father says, giving his old friend a tight smile.
"You are behind this?" Feyre's voice is furious.
I want to turn to look at her because she sounds close to me but I can't for the life of me, take my eyes off of my father.
"I wouldn't say behind this, but yes. I used to work with Angus before I realized he was a fool. You can take offense." The man doesn't say anything regarding the insult.
"You left me in that place, when you saw they were trying to kill me?" Feyre asks, her voice breaking.
That makes a growl rip from my chest.
I expected my father to do any despicable thing in the world, but I never thought he would try to hurt Feyre. He seemed to like her, more than anyone I have ever met.
"They were close to figuring out what I needed from you, I couldn't let you leave." he doesn't look sorry.
The way he looks right now reminds me of the monster I used to see before my mother died. The selfish man that would walk past her when she was sick and ignore her.
When her cravings drove her mad and she seemed like she was on the brink of death, he never spared her another glance.
He tried to pretend to be reformed after she died but I always saw through him. Right until this moment, I never realized I even thought he had changed until now that I'm seeing clearly as day he hasn't.
He is that monster that I know, he has always been.
"I couldn't let my children keep living with the curse that their mother left them with. And we need your blood to do that, you're going to give it. And until he is cured of that atrocity in him. No one is leaving this place." He growls and presses a button.
The noise starts again and the place locks down.
Ignoring every word my mother has ever said to me about not killing my father, I lunge for him, my aim to kill. Except, I never make it to him.
Someone grabs me from behind and I'm immediately cuffed. I release a menacing growl but he doesn't even bat an eyelash.
"You'll thank me for this later, son. I promise." He says, looking up at me. "We'll go back to how we were before your mother ruined you. You'll go back to being my son."
"I'll never be your son." I growled at him.
He doesn't take offense, he just nods at the person behind me and almost immediately, I feel a sting and my eyes shut on their own.
