Chapter 0227
ALPHA ZADE
My first instinct was to pull the asshole's heart out and watch him die, and for the last person he sees to be me.
He doesn't flinch as I lunge for him. I first take out the two men standing, leaving him unprotected. I know how cowards like him function, they are nothing without their muscle, which is mostly not them.
And I was right about him too, because the moment I stand in front f him and he sees the intent in my eyes, the first thing he does is take a step back then he holds his hand up.
"Begging for your life is pointless." I told him.
Craning my neck to the side until the muscles release and I hear the satisfying snap.
"Oh, you're the one that'll be begging for yours."
My brows crease and I wonder what he means, but before I could speak, we heard footsteps. Two more people walked forward.
I look over him and at the people approaching us, a man. He looks like one of his goons, and he is pushing someone with him. I couldn't tell if it was a man or a woman because of the heavy clothes they were wearing and the sack over their head, but it could be a woman from their small stature.
"I have something-oops, someone-" he laughs and points behind Joel- "I know your friend wants."
He snaps his finger above his head and the man snatches the sack from the person's face and I hold my breath. The loud exhale I hear from behind me tells me the woman's identity.
"Jade?" Joel says softly, his voice barely above a whisper.
I hear something fall to the ground, maybe his gun but I couldn't be sure.
I shut my eyes, cursing in my head when Angus smirks.
"A little birdie told me she looks just like your new mate." I ignored him, moving my eyes back to the woman who looks exactly like Jennifer.
Jennifer, who I feel the need to mention, looks like Feyre. What the fuck is going on?
Are there more women who look like Feyre in this fucking island r have I lost my mind? I could be hallucinating. Maybe it is the effect of whatever gas is released in the air.
"See, we are all locked down here if you have realized since you shot our escape system." He nods. "I'll make this a lot easier if I know whose side you're on."
"You're out of your fucking mind if you think I'm going to be part of whatever fucked up shit you have going on down here." I say through gritted teeth.
I'm not buying his bullshit of having no way out. He is not stupid to have only one access to exit and then let it be outside of their palms. He is my father's close friend, and the man may be everything, but stupid is not one of them.
"I'm not speaking to you." he says to me, then rolls his eyes and looks at Joel. "The offer is yours. You take that gun and put a bullet in his head, or I'll have my buddy over there shoot your wife."
Joel growls and takes a step forward. Angus tuts his tongue, then he shakes his head, stopping him.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." he tips his head back. "How fast do you think a bullet is compared to you? And this isn't a movie."
"Go ahead." I nod at Joel, giving him the go ahead to do what he needed to.
"What the fuck is wrong with you? I'm not gonna shoot you." he says, speaking loudly.
Angus sighs. "Well, you heard his decision."
Joel screams something that I don't catch.
I've never moved this fast in my life, but before the man can pull his gun out, I snatch the one on the ground and empty all the rounds in his head.
The woman he is holding shrieks and ducks, but I already know I won't hit her. The man falls to the ground with a loud thud.
Joel runs to his wife, wrapping his arms around her. She sobs into his shoulder as he mutters some things into her ear.
I turned to Angus, who looked ashen and I had to ask him.
"What did you think was going to happen?" I didn't expect Joel to not shoot me in all honesty.
It was his wife, and I'm a man he has known for all of five hours, if that is how long we have been down here. But I knew in the back of my mind that I wasn't going to let her die. Seeing her just created more questions for me and I needed their answers. I felt Feyre deserved them too.
"If you killed his wife, then what? You'll kill me?" I say with a scoff.
"Oh, I'm not killing you." he tries to swallow down his fear, but his racing heart easily gives him away.
I let him fake his bravado.
"I need you to get out of here and the key is on its way." My brows creased in question.
I wanted to speak again but an eerily familiar voice came from behind me, not giving me the chance to.
"I got the key. Now call him."
I turn back, my mouth agape as Trevor, the alpha king, walks to us, holding Feyre this time. I knew it was her even before they got close.
