Chapter 94
Joshua came over to keep his word.
But he didn't expect to see Ella and Zachary being all lovey-dovey at the hospital room door.
Was Ella really that desperate? Divorcing him in the morning, and getting cozy with another man in the afternoon.
He felt strangely jealous, and an inexplicable anger surged up. Without saying a word, he turned to leave.
Ella ran forward to stop him. "Joshua, Aurora needs you. Can you spend some time with her?"
Joshua looked at her coldly, his tone full of jealousy. "Isn't the child's father right there? Your family is finally reunited. Why would you need an outsider like me?"
"No."
Ella shook her head in denial.
"Zachary isn't the children's father. I'm begging you, help me this once. I'll work hard to pay you back later."
Thinking that Aurora really needed Joshua, Ella was willing to beg him even without dignity.
But her humble pleading didn't earn Joshua's sympathy.
Especially seeing Zachary there made him angry.
He had clearly come to be with Aurora, but now Joshua acted so cold and heartless, looking at Ella and saying, "I told you, whether your daughter lives or dies has nothing to do with me. I'm just here to see a friend. Move aside."
"Don't be like this."
Ella panicked and reached out to grab him. "Joshua, for the sake of our year as husband and wife, help me this once."
Her face was full of worry, extremely anxious, almost ready to kneel before him.
But Joshua remained unmoved and shook off her hand.
"Ella, I told you, stop disgusting me with your child. Even if she dies, it has nothing to do with me."
Joshua was about to leave again.
Ella really wanted to kneel and beg him, but just then Dorian's shout came from the hospital room, "Mom, Aurora woke up."
Hearing this, Ella saw Joshua stop moving forward. She quickly ran over to stand in front of him, her voice becoming hoarse.
"Joshua, do you really want me to kneel and beg you?"
"Mom, something's wrong. Aurora's coughing up blood."
At the hospital room door, Dorian cried out.
Zachary quickly called for a doctor and rushed into the room.
Ella knew Aurora just wanted Joshua's company. She didn't know what was happening with Aurora or why she was coughing up blood.
In desperation, she knelt on the ground, clutching Joshua's pant leg and begging, "Joshua, I'm begging you, stay with her. The doctor said if her emotions aren't stable she'll die. She'll really die. Help me this once."
Worried about Aurora, she completely disregarded her own dignity, hands on the ground, repeatedly kowtowing to Joshua.
But the more humble she became, the less Joshua cared about her.
Especially thinking about Aiden's death, and that those two children weren't his.
And thinking about how Ella was not only involved with Michael but also had something unclear going on with Zachary.
Yet she denied the children were theirs.
So she must have other men.
What was he still being soft-hearted about with this kind of woman?
Hardening his heart, Joshua still didn't want to care about Ella and her child. He walked around her and left.
He walked away without looking back, without hesitation.
"Joshua."
Ella screamed his name, watching Joshua's back as desperate tears burst from her eyes.
She had no time to waste. She immediately got up and returned to the hospital room.
When she arrived, she saw the doctor doing emergency treatment on Aurora.
Ella stood beside them, watching such a small child being shocked by the defibrillator until her little body bounced up. Her heart ached so much that tears wouldn't stop flowing.
Zachary put his arm around her to comfort her. "Aurora will be okay."
Dorian also became nervous and scared.
He didn't want anything to happen to Aurora.
Seeing Aurora coughing up blood all over the floor and lying unconscious, he couldn't help but shed big tears.
Until the doctor stopped the emergency treatment, and the heart monitor suddenly became a flat line.
Ella was stunned. Her whole body went into shock and she collapsed on the floor, her mouth open but unable to make any sound.
"Aurora, Aurora..."
Dorian lay by the bed, crying and holding Aurora's little hand, his whole body shaking uncontrollably.
The doctor looked grave, shaking his head and sighing. "I'm very sorry. We did our best, but we couldn't save the child."
Hearing that the child couldn't be saved, Ella suddenly snapped awake.
She used all her strength to get up, rushed over and grabbed the doctor, asking in a trembling voice, "What do you mean? My Aurora is only three years old. She was finally found. She'll be okay, right?"
"She's just sleeping, right?"
The doctor explained helplessly, "This child has been suffering from alkalosis, causing irregular heartbeat, plus severe brain hemorrhage from her injuries. It's already a miracle she lasted this long. Please accept my condolences!"
In fact, just a moment ago, she could still have been saved.
But Ava had given him strict orders - if Ella's child left the hospital alive, he would disappear from the medical field forever.
For the sake of his career, he could only...
"You're lying. Aurora was fine just now."
Dorian pushed the doctor away, steadied his emotions, and quickly pulled out silver needles to treat Aurora.
Ella also stumbled and sat by the bed.
She didn't stop Dorian from pulling out needles and inserting them into Aurora's body. Instead, she carefully picked up Aurora, held her in her arms, and tears streamed down her face.
"Aurora, you're just scaring Mommy, right?"
"Please don't leave Mommy. Wake up and look at Mommy. Mommy will take you back to Eldoria. We'll never come back again."
"Aurora, Aurora..."
Seeing that Aurora wouldn't wake up no matter how much she called, Ella became more and more emotionally broken.
The doctor asked Dorian, "Were you the one who kept sticking needles in Aurora?"
Dorian froze, unable to speak, his little face already covered in tears.
The doctor could only push the blame onto a child.
"I was wondering why this child was fine before and suddenly... So it was you stimulating her with needles."
Then he looked at Zachary and Ella beside him and scolded, "What kind of parents are you? The child is so young and doesn't know anything. Why did you let him stick needles randomly? There's really no saving her now."
The doctor angrily threw up his hands and left.
Ella really thought it was Dorian's needles that caused it. She looked at Dorian.
Dorian quickly shook his head to explain, "No, Mom, I did that for Aurora's good. It's not my fault."
"But Aurora won't wake up. Aurora doesn't want us anymore."
Ella still refused to give up. She looked at Zachary. "Call Samuel and have her come over, okay? I don't believe my Aurora left me like this. I don't believe it."
"Okay, I'll call right away."
Zachary also couldn't accept the current situation. Seeing Aurora's face turn so pale, his eyes reddened with heartache, and he quickly called Samuel.
Ella couldn't accept Aurora leaving. She kept holding her in her arms, murmuring to herself.
Dorian calmed down, wiped the tears from his cheeks, took Aurora's hand and examined her again.
Feeling that Aurora could still wake up, he said to Ella, "Mom, put Aurora down. Let me give her acupuncture. A few needles might make her better."
