Chapter 93
Watching Joshua walk away without looking back, Ella refused to give up. She quickly stepped forward to block his path.
"Joshua, you promised me. You said if I signed the equity transfer and the agreement to leave with nothing, you'd go be with Aurora. You can't go back on your word."
If it weren't for the fact that Aurora only needed him, she wouldn't humble herself like this.
For Aurora to be healthy and well, she could only swallow her pride.
Joshua stopped in his tracks and looked coldly at Ella in front of him.
Thinking about Samuel's call last night, saying the children's father was Zachary.
And now Zachary was at the hospital.
He laughed coldly and questioned Ella, "Is there even a point for me to go? Your child needs a father, and isn't he right there?"
"Ella, apart from owing me a hundred million dollars, we have nothing to do with each other anymore. From now on, stop bothering me with things about your kid. It's disgusting."
Joshua roughly pushed her aside, strode down the stairs, and got into Brian's car at the roadside.
Ella tried to stop him again, but the car sped away.
Watching Joshua leave so decisively, his words meaning nothing.
Ella knew that even if she stopped him, even if she got on her knees and begged, it wouldn't shake his resolve one bit.
She had no choice but to take a taxi back to the hospital.
Just as she reached the hospital room door, she heard Aurora's weak crying.
Ella's heart ached. She tried hard to compose herself before entering the room.
"Aurora, look what mommy bought for you."
Aurora looked over at the sound.
Seeing only Ella and no Joshua, she cried even harder, pushing away Dorian who tried to hold her, sobbing, "I want daddy, only daddy."
Zachary sat nearby. He'd been trying to comfort Aurora all morning without success. He asked Ella, "Didn't Joshua come with you?"
Ella shook her head and pulled out the doll she'd bought, holding it in front of Aurora.
"Aurora, look, isn't this stuffed toy as cute as you?"
Aurora swatted it away, pouting and continuing to cry, "I don't want this, I only want daddy, want daddy."
Ella was getting a bit angry, but didn't dare raise her voice too much. "Aurora, he's not your daddy. You only have mommy and Dorian. Stop making a fuss, okay?"
"No, I want daddy. He is daddy, I only want daddy."
Aurora wouldn't listen. It was like she had some kind of connection—only being near Joshua made her feel safe.
But Ella just thought she was being unreasonable and couldn't help losing her temper.
"How many times does mommy have to tell you? He's not, and he won't be showing up anymore. If you keep crying, I'll spank you."
She didn't know what was wrong with Aurora, insisting on Joshua like this.
Thinking about how Joshua broke his word, choosing to accompany the murderer who killed Aiden rather than help her, she stopped caring.
After all, she and Joshua had nothing to do with each other anymore.
Aurora was yelled at. Her crying quieted down a lot, but her body shook violently.
Zachary felt bad watching this and quickly held her in his arms. "Aurora, don't cry. You want daddy? I'm your daddy. How about daddy takes you back to Eldoria? Just like when you were little, we'll be together every day."
Dorian also came over and held Aurora's little hand. "Aurora, don't make mommy angry. Mommy's already worked so hard for you."
He tried again to examine Aurora.
He felt Aurora's body was really too weak. He turned to look at Ella. "Mommy, can you go ask the doctor for some acupuncture needles?"
Ella didn't know what Dorian wanted the needles for. She was about to turn and find a doctor when she suddenly saw Aurora in Zachary's arms pass out while sobbing.
She rushed over shouting, "Aurora, Aurora, wake up."
Dorian said urgently, "Mommy, go get the needles quickly. I'll treat Aurora."
As he spoke, he quickly had Zachary put Aurora back on the bed.
He hurriedly performed CPR on Aurora.
Ella was still afraid something might happen to Aurora, so she went to call a doctor first.
Zachary tried calling Samuel to ask him to come help.
Samuel was currently at another hospital, preparing medicine for Scarlett.
He ignored Zachary. When he arrived at the hospital room and saw Joshua was there too, he couldn't help mentioning, "Ella had Zachary ask me to come over. If she hadn't divorced you, I wouldn't care whether her daughter lives or dies."
Joshua thought about how Ella had begged him this morning, but he'd broken his promise. He felt a bit guilty about it.
He told Samuel, "We're already divorced. We divorced this morning."
"That fast?"
Samuel didn't quite believe it. "Show me the divorce certificate."
Joshua deflected, "Aren't you supposed to be an angel who saves lives? Do you need to pick and choose who to save?"
The implication was for him to go check on Aurora.
Aurora had been so hard to find in the first place.
If something happened to her, Ella would lose it.
"Joshua, of course you pick and choose when saving people. Samuel doesn't have an obligation to help everyone."
Scarlett chimed in, looking at Samuel. "Samuel, my dad's been complaining about headaches the past few days. Why don't you come to my house and check on him?"
She didn't want Samuel to go save Ella's child.
Wouldn't it be better if that child died?
That way Joshua would never know the child was his.
"Okay, I'll come over in a bit."
Samuel thought about Ella's attitude toward him before. He had his pride too.
What did Zachary's call mean to him? Unless Ella personally begged him, he might consider going to see Aurora.
Still somewhat worried about Aurora, Joshua stood up and told Scarlett, "You rest and recover. I still have some work to handle, so I'll leave first."
He signaled for Samuel to leave with him.
This time Scarlett was very understanding and didn't try to keep him.
Thinking about how Mason hadn't paid any attention to her since she came back injured.
Mason was her only support.
Even if she didn't end up with him, she had to maintain a good relationship with Mason, to leave herself a way out.
In case Joshua changed his mind later and didn't want to marry her, when she turned back, Mason would still be there waiting.
After all, Mason was her lapdog. No matter how much she rejected him, as long as she was willing to turn back, he would definitely be there.
At the hospital, in Aurora's room.
Dorian held acupuncture needles and stuck several into Aurora's head, making Ella's scalp tingle.
Afraid something might go wrong, she quickly tried to stop Dorian. "Dorian, stop it. The doctor said Aurora needs to control her emotions. Let's not mess around, okay?"
Dorian didn't listen and continued.
When Ella tried to stop him again, Zachary took her hand and led her out of the room, not disturbing Dorian.
"Dorian does have some talent for medicine. He wouldn't hurt Aurora. Don't worry."
"But he's still just a child. We can't let him do whatever he wants like this."
Ella was about to go back into the room to stop Dorian when Zachary held her back, comforting her, "Ella, I know you're under a lot of pressure, worried sick about the two kids. Let's take Aurora back to Eldoria. If we go back, maybe she'll remember things from before and won't insist on Joshua anymore."
Ella hesitated, about to say something, when she saw Joshua's figure appear at the end of the corridor.
She instinctively pulled away from Zachary's touch and quickly walked toward Joshua.
