CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY
AURON'S P.O.V
Aurora laughed softly, sharing a knowing look with me, her eyes twinkling in delight.
"Guys, its okay. Its just that I can finally hear Auron's thoughts now and we can also communicate through our minds."
Lucian nodded, an aha! look on his face.
"Right. The twin mind link. I knew that." Then he frowned, his eyes narrowed at me. "Not sure I like it though."
"Oh, so they can communicate with each other and still read their minds? That's cool. And also weird, the reading each other's mind part." The lady with her mate, the one with the two brothers, what's her name again? Right, Mirable said with a shudder. Her mate looked like he took offense and gave her a look, she shrugged once she noticed his stare. "What? I still like my own little bit of privacy." She defended, her voive indignant. Her mate just rolled his eyes and shook his head, she must be a handful.
Lucian's eyes suddenly went wide and he inched a finger at me, as if telling me to come closer. But I wasn't sure, so I looked back to see if there was someone else behind me, seeing no one, I then pointed at my chest.
"Huh? Me?"
"Mmmmhmmmm" he hummed while nodding, a mysterious look in his eyes. I glanced around Aurora with question in my eyes, she shrugged, looking clueless.
Once I reach his side, he easily placed his hand on my shoulder being an ich taller than me. Then he steered me away from Aurora's view and leaned down to my ears.
"You know I'm still a bit mad at you right?" He began in a low conspiratory voice.
I quickly glanced at him.
"Yeah...I think so..."
"And you wouldn't want me to keep being mad right?"
I nodded again.
"That's the plan, yeah."
"Great." He squeezed my shoulder. "I have a deal, you help me read her mind anytime I need you to and all grievances will be over. Forgotten. I won't even think of the time you kidnapped her and told me not to come get her."
He had a grin on his face but the look in his eyes said he was serious but I shook my head carefully.
"Um..I don't think that would be a good idea, I mean, we just made up. I wouldn't want to do something that could ruin it. Reading her mind is one thing but telling you is another "
He groaned, almost desperately.
"You don't understand. I don't need it every time. Its just for important events like her birthday, anniversary or when she's jyst mad at me." Then he squeezed my neck tighter. "Dude, her birthday is in three weeks and I have no idea what to get her. She won't tell me, just says surprise me. What if I surprise her and mess up. I cannot stay on the couch again. I need you, help a fellow alpha. Please man."
It was funny the way he was desperately begging me, this big alpha, I know I'm an alpha too but this was the first time I was seeing another alpha scared of his own mate. I couldn't help laughing.
"Nothing is funny here." He growled.
I stopped laughing immediately and cleared my throat.
"Fine. But only on occasions like you said, any other time and I won't do it."
He nodded profusely, a grin breaking out in his face, lighting his eyes as he pulled me into a hug.
"Thanks man! You are the kind of brother in law guys wish to have." He boomed out.
"Yeah, just don't hurt my sister. Ever." I says seriously while smiling but not joking. The protectiveness over ger was already kicking in "I won't care about not offending you then."
He nodded, his jaw set in a firm line.
"I can never hurt her. Never."
I nodded, seeing that he meant it and shook his hand with smile.
"Then you have my help, brother in law."
"Thank you, brother in law." He easily replied back.
Just in time to see Aurora coming towards us, a curious look on her face.
"So...what were you guys talking about?"
Lucian and I glanced at each other.
"Just...random men stuff. Nothing serious." He told her with an innocent smile.
I nodded along with him.
"Yep, just random. We're getting to know each other. Sort of."
Her eyes darted between the two of her, her head slightly tilting to the side and eyes squinting just a little bit with suspicion.
"Hmm." Then she shrugged. "Alright, if you say so. I think its time we call it a day and go to bed."
"Yeah. Some of us need our sleep." Ariel nodded.
"While some if us are already asleep." Mirabel said in a dry tone as she rolled her eyes at Jake's sleeping form lying probe on the bed, his mouth opened. Just as she said that he let out a loud snore prompting and abrupt laugh from me that I just couldn't contain.
"I'm sorry. Its just...he snores...like a machine..." I laughed while trying to explain as Mirabel and the others gave me funny looks. But it was true, he snored so loud that it sounded like a machine being dragged or being turned on. I think my laughing must have seemed funny because they took burst into laughter.
"Yeah. You're right, if you listen to it, it does sound like a machine." Talia agreed, bending at the waist as she laughed.
Eli kicked his leg a bit hard.
"Jake, wake up."
He immediately opened his eyes and sprang up, his eyes strangely alert.
"I'm up. I wasn't sleeping."
Another laugh tried to burst out but I disguised it as a cough but Aurora knew and nudged my shoulder, I nudged her back.
Lucian clapped his hands.
"Alright everyone, back to your rooms, get a good night sleep because tomorrow..."
"Today." That other alpha guy, Kieran yeah, he interrupted with a yawn.
Lucian stared at him with a puzzled look on his face.
"What?"
"Today is today, not tomorrow."
His frown got deeper.
"I don't get it "
Kieran sighed and groaned at the same time.
"The tomorrow you are talking about is now today because its way past twelve pm, hitting two am, do you understand me now?"
