CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTEEN
AURORA'S P.O.V
"Lucian, Aurora, you're here."
Griffin walked towards us as soon as we arrived.
The place was littered with the other men patrolling the border, they stood alert, their eyes fixed forward. Where I assumed the strangers to be waiting, I could feel the air thick with tension, waiting for something to happen.
"We came as soon as we heard. Have they made any movements?"
Griffin shook his head, his eyes hard.
“They’ve just been standing there, refusing to speak with anyone."
Lucian nodded, stepping forward with me beside him. The silence was oppressive, so silent that we couldn't even hear the chirping of birds nor the bloeing of tge wind. It was as if as we approached, everything stilled.
"I do not like the feeling of this." I muttered under my breath, Lucian's hand found mine, he squeezed it to reassure me and I squeezed back.
We saw them immediately, spread out just before the border, like a stack of black cards. The patrol guy was right, they were more than thirty, maybe forty, stretching on a straight line. They stood dressed in long, black claims with a large hoodie over their head. Something about them seemed too familiar and I couldn't help the uneasy feeling I felt in my stomach. Their faces were also covered, the only thing we could see were they're eyes beneath the plain black mask they wore.
"Greetings! I am Lucian Vanguh, Alpha of the Bloodfang pack." Lucian boomed out. "Are you friend or foe? What can we do for you?"
For a few seconds they made no movements, then one of them stepped forward. He seemed to be the leader because he was larger and taller than the others, had an impossible aura with his chin raised up. He pushed back his hood, revealing brown hair cut close to the scalp, his eyes were pure black as he stared at Lucian.
"If you are Alpha Lucian, then you must know the woman, Aurora Steel?" His voice sounded a bit muffled behind the mask but still managed to pass his message.
Lucian looked at me, I nodded, my chest beating.
"I am here." I stepped forward, noticing from my peripheral vision the men going alert in case of anything, I hid a smile. "I'm Aurora Steel. What do you need from me."
His eyes locked onto mine immediately, I felt a chill settle in my spine. He took a step forward and a hint of a bow followed. "Aurora Steel,” he said, voice smooth. “We’ve been sent with a message just for you.”
I clenched my hands, tilt my head to the side.
“Who are you?”
He didn’t answer. Instead, he extended a sealed envelope with a gloved hand. “Take this.”
I glanced at the envelope, it felt ominous the more I stared. Placing my hands on my hip, I shook my head.
"I won't take it until you tell me who you are, who sent you and what's in it?"
His hand never moved, his eyes steady.
"Take this, when you read it, you might get an idea." He insisted.
"And I said I won't."
He said nothing, seeing that this was going nowhere, I let out a frustrated groan.
"Fine, I'm taking it."
"Aurora, wait!" Lucian stopped me, Griffin by his side, both having looks of alarm on they're faces.
"What?"
Lucian glared at the man before looking at me.
"You're not going to take it from him by yourself are you?"
I nodded.
"Yes, I was going to take it. Why?"
He let out a sigh rubbing his eyes.
"Don't worry, I'll do it for you."
He turned but was stopped by the man.
"She is the only person I'm giving this to. If you come, don't expect me to regard you. It's her or no one."
I gave him an 'You see' look.
He glanced at me.
"Do I have your word you won't hurt her?"
"You have my word."
Griffin nodded.
"Don't worry, the men and I are watching, anything goes wrong and we attack."
Lucian nodded with difficult, his eyes dark.
"Fine" he gritted out in a strained voice. "Go. I'll be watching."
"I'll be back." I turned and began walking.
Though I felt a bit worried, I knew that if he was going to hurt me, he didn't need to stand still, when I was just a few paces away.
I reached him in seconds, in close he appeared taller and bigger, his eyes followed me. Hesitantly, I took the envelope still in his outstretched hand, my fingers brushing against his. Suddenly, he leaned in, I flinched as I felt his mouth close to my ear.
"Auron says hello."
"What?"
I raised my head to stare into his eyes, he gave me a fleeting glance then turned away and left, along with the men he came with. They vanished into the trees, leaving me staring at the envelope in my hand.
"Hey! Stop! What did you mean by that?" I called out to him but he never stopped to answer.
"Aurora, at your alright?"
"What did he say?"
Lucian and Griffin rushed to my side, voices filled with concern. My eyes stayed in the direction of the trees, the wheels in my head spinning rapidly.
"He said Auron...Auron says hello." I whispered.
"Auron? Who is Auron?" Lucian asked, I could hear the confusion in his voice.
Griffin shook his head, puzzled.
"I've never heard of that name. Who could he be?"
"Open the envelope, let's find out what he wrote." Lucian urged.
I nodded shakily and turned it over to open it.
“Alpha,” one of the men suddenly called, voice urgent. “Two alphas from two packs are waiting in the pack meeting hall." I paused, my hands hanging on evelope as his eyes darted to me. "They’re asking for you and the Luna.”
