Chapter 104 104
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FOUR
LUCIAN'S P.O.V
I felt like I'd been punched in the gut. Desmond's words echoed in my mind, taunting me. Jealousy and unease flooded through my chest, wounding around it, not letting go. I tried to shake off the feeling, but it lingered. Was it true? Did Aurora really love Kieran? Impossible! There's no way she would love him, they are just friends, I hope.
Desmond's mocking laughter was like a slap to the face. "You're so blind, Lucian. You always were. You think you're worthy of her love? Ha! You're just a tool, a means to an end. She only needs you in order to be free from me, then after all is done, she'll leave you and go to that Kieran guy."
I snarled, my eyes flashing with anger. "Shut up, Desmond. You don't know anything about me and Aurora. She will never betray me like that."
He shrugged, a smug look on his face. "I know enough. And I know that you'll do whatever it takes to save your mother and Talia. An example is when she wanted to leave the pack with Kieran and go to his pack with him. Do you remember that?"
I clenched my first. Of course I do, that was one of my breaking point after I woke up and discovered that he was going to take her.
He continued.
"And remember that she didn't tell you early until it just slipped out. Do you also know that he at first asked her to be his mate?"
I gritted my teeth, shaking my head forcefully. Why was he making me remember all of this? How did he even know?
"What's your point?"
"Here's the deal. You help me bring Aurora back, and I'll let them live, she doesn't deserve you anyway."
I gared at him, my mind racing with options. I could play along, pretend to agree, and then find a way to escape. Or I could refuse, and risk Desmond hurting my loved ones.
"And one last thing..." He drawled, leaning against the wall, his voice low like he wanted to promise me something illegal. "She might be at his pack right now, giving her body, heart and souls to him, under your very nose while you suffer here. She's nothing but a weak woman with only the protection of her bloodline. Once she is gone, you can have a million girls if you want."
My eyes flew up in rage as my wolf lost its control. Though I couldn't shift fully, I managed to shift my hands and let my fangs out. I roared with unbridled rage, attacking his men that flocked round, trying to stop me. They tried to fight back but my rage now made me way too strong for them and I couldn't see past the white fog of rage to think about the hits that I was getting.
He laughed, his eyes glining with excitement not in the least bit shocked by my outburst.
"Lucian, you're just making this easier for me. Kieran will make a much better alpha, and Aurora will be much happier with him."
"Shut up!"
I growled, my jaws snapping mere inches from Desmond's face. He smiled, and nodded to his men. They attacked me again with more fervor and I fought back, my claws and teeth tearing through them. But there were too many of them, and eventually they managed to subdue me. My body hurt with everything breath I took, blood pooled beneath me as I laid on the cold, hard floor while breathing harshly, my eyes going blurry. Desmond stood over me, his eyes glining with triumph.
"You'll never win, Lucian," he said, his voice cold and hard. "You'll never save Aurora, and you'll never be alpha. Kieran will make sure of it. With him there, who needs you, I'm sure Aurora will agree with me." He laughed. "You had all these time to make her fall in love with you but you did nothing. I'm sure you haven't even seen her body or touched her smooth, pale skin. Have you?"
I snarled, my eyes locked on his.
"You bastard...Aurora will never betray me..." I heaved, wheezing as I coughed out blood. "She might not love me but she won't go as far as to betray me with someone like Kieran."
But deep down, I was worried. What if Desmond was right? What if I was too late?
"Keep on dreaming..."
The door suddenly burst open and three guards rushed in, their postures and demeanor tensed.
"How dare you barge in here without my permission?" He roared, veins popping on his forehead.
"We're sorry, Alpha but we have a bit of a problem."
"What is it?"
"Three of our sentry units have been attacked and the fourth is being attacked as we speak. We have already lost some of our men to the attacks."
"What!" His face went red with anger. "Who dares to do such foolishness behavior in my pack?"
"We have no idea who they are."
But I do. I hid the smirk growing on my face. It's Kieran.
He snorted, rubbing his face. Then he looked at me and pointed.
"Take him back and lock him. No food until I get back. Is that clear?"
"Yes, Alpha."
I watched as he left with the three guards, then I felt myself being dragged forcefully, again for the umpteenth time. I groaned in pain as we made our way to my cell. If only the damn silver chains were off, I would be able to heal in a flash. Anyway...who cares? Its time. I waited patiently as well got closer to my cell, excitement rushing through my blood. Finally. Just before he could open my cell, I took a deep breath and raised my hand, knocking the first guard down. He went down easily, the other two yelled and rushed at me but one thing they didn't know was that even with silver chains, I was still strong. I easily caught their fists and smashed my fist in one's face and my head into the last guy's head. They were all unconscious immediately. I rummaged in their pockets until I found what I was looking for.
"Bingo."
I used the heavy set of keys, found the one I was looking for and quickly opened the locks to my chains. Once they fell off from my neck and hands, a huge feeling of relief and power washed through me. As if something was finally returning back to me. In not less than five minutes, I felt my strength back, my wounds closing and my heart pumping with the need for war. I walked over to the next cell, rattling the keys in my hands.
"Griffin...Its time."
