CHAPTER 95
CHAPTER 95
Leo's POV
He had locked the door from the outside.
“Koba, open the door right now!” I shouted, hitting the car door. hat noise drew the tiger’s attention back to me. It jumped down and started scratching at the window.
Then I saw Koba…
He had lit the diary.
He walked toward the tiger with the burning notebook in his hand, the flames rising high. Seeing the fire, the tiger finally backed away… and then ran.
As soon as it disappeared, Koba unlocked the door.
I pushed it open immediately, stepped outside, and stood right in front of him.
Without thinking, I slapped him. My heart was beating so fast.
“Are you an idiot, Koba? How can you risk your life like that for us?” I cried, before pulling him into a tight hug.
I told him how worried I was… how I thought he was going to die.
“Can’t you be careful? And why did you lock the door?” I asked, still holding onto him.
Koba threw the burning notebook aside and hugged me back.
“I’m sorry… but I really wanted to save you,” he said softly. “I didn’t want you to get hurt. I would do anything for you… believe me.”
Whether his words were true or not, I didn’t care in that moment. I was just happy he was alive. I didn’t let go of him for a full five minutes.
Finally, we looked around and went back inside, leaving the notebook behind to burn into smoke.
Once inside, I saw that Sol was still in shock.
“Hey dude, are you okay? What you did was a killer move, I like it,” Sol said. “I would’ve done the same. And I just realized… you two have a thing, don’t you? Or did you fall for each other today? Like love at first sight?”
Her dramatic words made us laugh, and somehow, the fear of the tiger started to fade.
After talking for a while, I closed my eyes for just a second… and didn’t even realize when I fell asleep.
The next morning, I woke up, and no one else was in the car.
A sudden fear rushed through me. Where was everyone? Was I still dreaming?
I quickly looked outside, opened the door, and jumped out, only to find them all already there. They had even set up food on a rock.
“Oh great, Leo, you’re awake! Let’s eat breakfast,” Sol said. “We are damn hungry right now, and I think we need to leave from here.”
I saw Andrew sitting there, wrapped in multiple layers of clothes. He looked like he was freezing. I went over and touched his forehead, and it felt like it was burning. So hot that it almost felt like it would burn my hand.
“He has a very high fever! We really need to go to the hospital, otherwise something might happen to Andrew,” I said.
Sol’s expression showed she agreed, but how were we supposed to leave?
I looked over and saw Koba standing near the cliff, staring down. I walked over and stood beside him.
The whole town was gone.
Only seawater remained, and it had risen halfway up the mountain. It was lucky the mountains were high enough to keep us safe, but with the water at that level, we were basically stranded, like we were on an island with no way to leave.
Looking at the water made my fear grow even more.
“Did you sleep well?” Koba asked, placing a hand on my shoulder and pulling me slightly closer.
“Yeah, I slept well. What about you? Did any animals come while I was asleep?” I asked.
“No, no one came,” he said playfully. “I guess they were scared after seeing you. You look so scary that everyone gets afraid of you, so they must be hiding somewhere and crying.”
I smacked his shoulder. “Don’t joke like that. I don’t like it. And I don’t have a scary face, my face is actually kind of cute and beautiful too. So don’t disrespect me, Koba.”
I turned away and sat on a rock. Koba followed and sat beside me.
“Andrew’s fever is getting worse, isn’t it? How are we supposed to leave from here?” he mumbled.
I was thinking the same thing. If we didn’t leave, we were going to die, and I really didn’t want to die. But if that was my fate, I wouldn’t complain…
Still, if I had even a small chance to live, I wanted to take it. As I was lost in my thoughts, Koba gently held my hand.
"Leo, you’re alright, right? And when did that tiger appear by our car?" he asked.
Well, I told him everything, how I went to pee, and when I came back, that tiger had come from the same direction. And once I finished, I saw Koba staring at me.
"Are you an idiot, Leo? How can you go out of the car on your own? What if something had happened to you last night? Can you even imagine? It was extremely dangerous! Don’t ever do this again."
He started to nag me for no reason. I knew what I did last night was dangerous, but I was fine, I was alive. So why make such a big deal out of it? Still, I knew Koba was worried about me, and that’s why he was scolding me.
I hugged Koba’s arms and rested my head on his shoulder. I felt calm after doing that. Even now, after calming down, he wasn’t saying anything at all. He was just silent.
"I’m sorry, Koba. I won’t go out at night alone again, but it was an emergency. So please don’t be angry," I said, pouting. Koba also rested his head on mine while looking ahead.
We just sat there for a few minutes and then stood up. Andrew was trying to eat, but he wasn’t able to because of the fever, his tongue felt tasteless. And if he didn’t eat anything, that would not be good at all.
Koba and I first ate something to give ourselves energy so that we could think about what to do next. As we were thinking, suddenly the sound of waves reached my ears. Andrew and Sol were inside the car, while Koba and I were standing outside.
Hearing that sound, I turned around and walked towards the cliff.
