CHAPTER 96
CHAPTER 96
Leo's POV
Seeing all this, I felt like the world had come to an end, and this was the end of all of us. We both turned around and saw that Andrew’s condition was getting worse, and that destruction was coming right at us.
"Sol, at full speed that tsunami is reaching us! What should we do?" I asked her. Even though I knew she didn’t know anything either, Koba held my hand.
"Get inside the car! We’ll start driving and see where we can go to get safe from that tsunami," he said. Koba and I got inside the car, closed all the windows, and he started driving.
As he drove, my eyes were glued outside, so I pulled the window down and looked back. The car was moving at full speed, but where we were going, we didn’t know.
Looking back, I saw the water had already reached the cliff, and it was so high. Waves were in the air, right behind us. I could feel my death coming.
"Guys, look back," I said in a daze. As I said that, they all glanced back and saw the destruction. Soon, it reached us. My window was open, and all the water rushed inside.
I couldn’t hold my breath in the water, and in just a few seconds, I felt like I was dying. The whole car was drowning. Trees were ripped from their roots and floating around.
I saw Koba open the car door and help me. He was swimming while holding onto me, but I was losing consciousness from lack of air.
Just then, Koba pressed his lips against mine to give me breath. It was a kiss, but it worked, because of it, I got a little oxygen. Then Koba started swimming upward.
It took so much time, and when we reached the top of the water, I saw everything was ruined. The jungle, the forest we thought could save us, was now submerged. Just then, we heard a chopper. As soon as I heard it, my eyes closed, and I passed out.
The next moment, I opened my eyes and saw the ceiling. My vision was blurry, so I closed them again. When I opened them, I glanced around and saw I was in a hospital. We were saved!
I tried to sit up, but my head hurt. I touched it and realized there was a bandage wrapped around it. My legs felt heavy, almost numb. Still holding onto the bed for support, I sat up and noticed a plaster on my leg.
What the hell happened? How did I end up here? And where are Koba, Sol, and Andrew? They should be safe, please. I clutched my head, realizing I was the only one there.
Just then, the door opened, and Zale came in. Seeing me, he rushed over.
"Leo, you’re awake! How are you feeling? Wait, let me call the doctor," he said. He quickly pressed the button to call the doctor and sat down beside me, touching my face to check my temperature. I was too dumbfounded to respond.
"Where is Koba? Is he alright? Come on, tell me! And what about Sol and Andrew?" I asked desperately. Zale looked at me, then quickly down at the floor, signaling something was wrong. My heart skipped a beat, I was getting nervous.
"Koba is fine. You got hurt while saving him. And as for those two the Alpha girl and the Beta boy they’re both safe too," Zale said.
I was confused about when I saved him, and then a memory rushed back. When I had passed out, I hadn’t really passed out, I had just closed my eyes.
A big tree was about to fall on us because of the water, and at that moment, I covered Koba and got hurt instead, on my leg and my head.
I didn’t regret it; I was happy I saved him because yesterday, he risked his life to save me. So we were even now. But where was he? I wanted to ask Zale, but seeing his face, I didn’t open my mouth and turned my head away, staring out the window.
"How many days has it been?" I asked.
"It’s been five days since you passed out. Koba got discharged after two days, and your friends are also discharged. Koba has gone to buy something; he’ll be here any minute," Zale said in a low voice. He stood up, bowed his head at me, and left the room.
I sighed in relief. It wasn’t that I was happy he had left, but I felt a little uncomfortable with him being near.
After a few minutes, the door opened, and Koba stepped inside with a surprised look on his face. He had a carry bag in his hand. He quickly ran toward me, put the bag beside me, and hugged me.
"Leo, you’re finally awake! Do you know how worried I was about you? I thought I had lost you, but it’s good that you’re awake," he said. I hugged him back, happy to see him safe and alive.
In that situation, I had thought it was the end, we were going to die. When we were drowning in the water, I really thought that, but now we were alive.
I broke the hug. "Koba, what happened? Can you tell me? What about the tsunami and everything?" I asked.
He told me everything. The tsunami was now suppressed, and all the water had been drained. They had saved the survivors; half of them had already fled the town. No one had died because many knew how to swim and had used their brains.
Everyone survived. Only a few were injured, and after five days, everything was under control. That was a relief, I was really happy everything was fine.
I didn’t fully understand what he meant by "suppressed the tsunami," but I didn’t ask. I didn’t want to overthink it. It was more than enough that we were safe.
"Leave all that aside, Leo. Are you hungry? I brought porridge for you," Koba said. "Even though I didn’t know when you’d wake up, I bought porridge every day, in case you woke up hungry."
