Chapter 14 What's Different About Amelia?
Anthony was tall and thin, wearing a white T-shirt, looking sunny and cheerful. When he saw the two girls coming in, his eyes lit up, and he quickly stood up.
"Why are you out of breath?"
Ashley saw Anthony and immediately straightened her posture, smiling without showing her teeth.
She instantly transformed into a lady and shyly called him Señor.
Amelia was staring blankly, not knowing what to do.
Ashley was a girl who had a carefree and open personality, and it was a bit difficult for her to act like a lady.
Amelia tightly pressed her lips, trying to suppress her laughter, and nodded at Anthony. As the third wheel, she still felt a little embarrassed.
Anthony gave a confused look at the two girls, and pulled out a chair.
"Please have a seat and catch your breath," he said.
Amelia frowned, feeling that something was not quite right with this person. It seemed inappropriate for him to make this gesture at this moment.
Anthony pulled out another chair for Ashley, smiling gleefully.
"Ashley, you should also take a break."
Amelia felt that she had overthought things just now, so she sat down.
Ashley held Amelia's arm and introduced her to Anthony.
"This is my best friend, Amelia. Don't you remember her, Señor?"
Anthony smiled slightly, his gaze assessing Amelia.
"You seem to have lost a lot of weight! Is it because of the stress from the college entrance exam that you have no appetite?"
When it came to the college entrance exam, Amelia lowered her gaze. She didn't reach the admission score for university, and she didn't even apply for vocational school. She could no longer go to school.
Ashley tugged at Anthony's sleeve and gave him a meaningful look. Anthony was surprised. He remembered that this girl was not bad academically. Could it be that her college entrance exam results were not ideal?
Although he was puzzled, seeing that Amelia was affected emotionally, he changed the topic.
"While it's important for girls to maintain their weight, being too thin is not good-looking."
This actually steered the conversation in a different direction. Ashley was very satisfied. She thought that this senior had a high emotional intelligence. He was intelligent and an academic overachiever – he was simply an ideal boyfriend!
Anthony took the menu from the waiter and handed it to Amelia and Ashley.
"I remember that you both used to love eating spicy food like this. Order whatever you like."
Ashley rudely took the menu and playfully smiled at Anthony.
“Señor, you're treating us, so we definitely won't hold back."
Amelia saw the enticing and spicy Lobster that made her mouth water and glanced at Ashley. The two of them had such good understanding that Ashley naturally knew what she meant. She whispered to her.
"How about... two pounds?"
Amelia was taken aback. This girl usually ate three to four pounds when they came here together. Today, she was being reserved.
Anthony's gaze fell on Amelia, especially when he saw her smile. He couldn't help but curve his lips.
"Don't hesitate and order as much as you like if you enjoy it."
In the end, Ashley conservatively ordered three pounds, and Amelia did not object. She remembered that she was here to accompany Ashley on a date, and she wanted to leave a good impression on Anthony.
"What would you like to drink?"
Anthony looked through the beverage options. Ashley directly asked for coconut juice and vanilla latte, and Anthony looked at Amelia.
"What would you like to drink, Amelia?"
Before Ashley could finish her sentence, Amelia said.
"No need, I don't need a beverage. I brought my own water."
Saying that, she took out a cup from her backpack and placed it on the table. Inside was a red date and goji berry drink.
Amelia opened it and took a few sips with a straw.
Then, she took out a pack of wet wipes and wiped her hands. When she looked up, she noticed that both Ashley and Anthony were looking at her.
Amelia was confused. "What's wrong?"
Ashley came from a well-off family, both of her parents were professionals with good salaries. She always wore expensive clothes, and Anthony made an effort to know about various brands of items.
Therefore, both of them immediately recognized the cup that Amelia was holding in her hand.
The cup was sold online for over six thousand and it only came in white, whereas Amelia's cup was pink. Could it be a fake?
This was the possibility that both Anthony and Ashley thought of at the same time.
Ashley and Amelia had a good relationship, so Ashley knew her family's financial situation well.
Anthony had also learned about Amelia, seeing that she was still wearing the same old t-shirt and washed out jeans from school.
Naturally, he did not think she could afford a six-thousand-dollar water cup.
Ashley did not hide her thoughts from Amelia and asked her directly, "Amelia, where did you buy this cup?"
As she spoke, she took Amelia's cup from her hand and held it, examining it carefully. She was surprised because it was not fake, it was definitely real.
Anthony noticed Ashley's expression and his eyes flickered slightly.
He jokingly asked, "Yeah, this cup looks really nice. Where did you buy it?"
"Oh, a friend gave it to me."
Although Amelia was young, she was actually quite smart. She had noticed the expressions of the two of them just now and couldn't help but take a few more glances at the cup.
Could Mr. Kingsley have given her a very expensive cup to use? Ashley carefully recalled Amelia's friends.
She should know most of them, so who would gift her such an expensive cup?
Damien returned home and didn't see Amelia in the living room.
He changed into his slippers and walked towards the bedroom while asking, "Is she still sleeping?"
Ms. Linda glanced at the clock. It was just after four in the afternoon and young master had come home early today.
"Amelia went out." Damien paused his footsteps and turned to look at Ms. Linda. "She went out? Alone?"
Ms. Linda saw her young master's expression was off, but didn't understand why. Amelia was already a grown girl, so what could be the problem with her going out alone?
"Oh, yes... she said she wanted to go out for a while, so she left. I did give her water."
Damien replied with a faint "hmm" and sent a message to Amelia on his phone.
"Where are you?"
Just as the Lobster was placed on the table in front of Amelia, she rolled up her sleeves ready to dig in when she saw Damien's message.
She put down her gloves, took her phone, and quickly replied, "I'm out eating with a friend, will be home in a little while.
Damien dialed Amelia’s number, seeing Mr. Kingsley’s name on the screen Amelia excused herself and moves away from the table to answer the call.
“Where are you? I'll come pick you up.”
“I wouldn’t want to trouble you, I’ll take the bus and be home once I’m free Mr. Kingsley.”
Damien furrows his brow and repeats, “Just tell me where you are and I will come get you”
Reluctantly, Amelia tells him that she at the Lobster restaurant and agrees to meet up with him.
