Chapter One hundred and five: Mike on the run again.

Suddenly Mike heard the police sirens, he looked out the window and he saw police cars pulling up in front of the house.

Mike was shocked he knew that see he was seen here he would be termed as the murderer and he could not leave Mrs. Parker without paying his respect to her. As someone who helped him what could he do?

Mike quickly went into the room of Mrs. Parker's late son, he wanted a change of clothes, and though Mike it was a bit disrespectful he had no choice.

Mike collected some jeans and some polo. He quickly took the books and he left his old clothes in the house and he did not eat again. Mike escaped through the back of the house before the police could surround the house.

Officer Joe and his crew got to the door, they knocked but no one answered. Officer Joe was surprised and then he prepared himself for anything. He brought his gun, and he signaled Officer Ruby to knock again, and she did so but still no response.

Officer Joe noticed that there was dripping of red liquid from under the door, he was shocked, he called the attention of his fellow officers and they were all shocked.

Immediately the police officers broke into the house, they saw Mrs. Parker lying in the pool of her blood.

“Quickly, search around the house, the killer might be close!” Officer Joe ordered. The police officers quickly searched the house.

The police officers came back and they said “We didn't see anyone,”.

“What?! Did you check the back of the house?!” Officer Joe asked.

“Yes sir, but no one was there, this house is empty entirely,” the police officers said.

Officer Joe looked around he said, “Somebody was here, I can feel it,”.

Officer Ruby was checking the pulse of Mrs. Parker but there was none. “How is she doing?” Officer Joe asked Officer Ruby.

“She is dead, I mean dead and gone,” Officer Ruby responded.

“I will get the ambulance, meanwhile, you guys should check everywhere, to see if we can have a clue of who did it,” Inspector Eric said.

“Roger that!” Officer Joe and Officer Ruby said simultaneously.

Inspector Eric went back to the car to call for an

Ambulance pick up.

Officer Ruby and some other police officers helped in cleaning up Mrs. Parker.

While Officer Joe, moved around the house, he walked into the dining room and saw some food on a tray placed on the table. He was surprised.

Officer Joe moved closer for more inspection. He didn't touch anything but if he had to, he would use gloves. Officer Joe placed his hand over the goods and he could feel the heat from the food, meaning that it was prepared not too long the food was prepared. He was shocked by this discovery.

He immediately went to the kitchen, where the food was prepared, he put on gloves he touched the gas and it burnt him a little bit.

That concluded the fact that someone was here. Officer Joe went back to his crew to share what he discovered, when he got there, the police officers started to mark out evidence they found.

“Everyone listen!” Officer Joe said. He called for everyone's attention. They stopped what they were doing and listened to him.

“There was someone here! The food is warm, the gas and most surfaces in the kitchen are warm that means, someone was here and that person knows something about this,” Officer Joe said.

“Yeah, we found out,” Officer Ruby said.

“How?” Officer Joe asked.

“We saw these clothes, it is like the suspect responsible for this murder, changed his clothes from the wardrobe of the younger adult that lived in this house and he dropped his former clothes and it seems like he was in a haste. Officer Joe, I think you have seen someone wearing a shirt and trousers like this,” Officer Ruby said. She showed him Mike's clothes that she found in Mrs. Parker's son’s room.

Officer Joe took the collects and he remembered that Mike wore something similar to this when he encountered Mike on the rooftop.

“Yes! It was Mike who wore something to this, so are trying to say he was here?” Officer Joe asked. He kept analyzing the clothes.

“It's what it is, looked at the holes at the back of the shirt, is the same hole that was made when that police officer teased him when he jumped over the building, now you understand my point of view?” Officer Ruby asked, and he proved her point.

“I understand, well -done. Everyone! Carry on with your investigation, great job everyone!” Officer Joe said. He acknowledges everybody's efforts. The investigation went on.

Officer Joe called an officer and he gave him the clothes and he said “Put this in a nylon and seal it and add this part of the evidence box, do you understand?”. He asked.

“Yes sir I understand,” the police officer said.

The police officer went away and put on the clothes part of the evidence gathered.

Officer Joe was shocked by what he heard and discovered and now Mike is tagged as a killer, there is an additional charge of murder in Mike's head but Officer Joe refuses to believe that Mike is a killer, but the evidence of unbelievable.

A few minutes later, sadly an ambulance came and Mrs. Parker was carried out of the house in a stretcher, her body was put in a body bag, and she was covered.

As she was placed into the ambulance van. Officer Joe felt pity and he called Officer Ruby and asked “Have you identified the woman?”.

“Yes, I just did so, her name is Mrs. Louise Parker, and she is seventy- years old. She is the wife of Mr. Parker and her son was a former soldier, he died,” Officer Ruby said. She gave the full details about Mrs. Parker.

“Wait do you mean Mr. Parker, the former commissioner of police?” Officer Joe asked.

“Yes, he was hailed and he died in prison recently, why did you ask?” Officer Ruby asked. She was surprised by Officer Joe's interest in Mrs. Parker's background.

“Because he was a good man, that does the right thing but how did he end up that way? Something is not adding up somewhere, don't you think so?” Officer Joe asked. There was something suspicious about the whole detail.

Meanwhile, Mike went to meet Pearl but before he got to Pearl's house, he called her through a pay phone.

“Hello, who is this?” Pearl asked as she picked up the phone. Pearl was on her way to work when the call came in.

“Hello Pearl, please calm down, It is me, Mike,” Mike said, he introduced himself to Pearl.

“What?! Why are you calling me?! Do you want to involve me in your scheme? Have you not done worse than good? What do you freaking want from me and my son, Mike?!” Pearl said. She was angry after knowing it was Mike.

“Just listen to me, please..” Mike said he pleaded over the phone.

“Just give me one reason why I won't end this call?” Pearl asked angrily.

“I want to talk to you,” Mike said.

“Hell no!” Pearl said. She immediately ended the call. Not knowing that Mike was using a payphone that was on the same route she takes to work every day. Mike waited for her on the road.

Pearl got closer, Mike came out from his spot and he blocked her on the road and Pearl was surprised.

“Pearl, we need to talk…” Mike said.
