Chapter 6

After leaving my father at the police station, I then went back home only to find my so-called relatives all still there.

Many of them I did not know and yet here they were all trying to look as though they knew me.

"Oh, Nathan."

"I'm your uncle, Nathan still remember me?"

They were all making me crazy. I knew they were all just here for the money. Since I'm a minor not yet 18 they were all fighting to be chosen as the one to be my guardian so that they could enjoy being filthy rich.

Some people were just shameless.

In this bad mood of mine, I wanted to order them all to leave this once and if they didn’t, they would be escorted by my bodyguards but lucky for them there was media outside so I could not make a scene.

As I was standing there in the guest room with Claire not trying to be rude. I then saw my parent’s lawyer coming to talk to me.

"Nathan can I see you for a minute there is something important and urgent I have to discuss with you," he said to me and I quickly said yes wanting to leave this claustrophobic room.

I took Claire with me as I wanted her by my side as we went to talk in my father's soundproof office.

"Are you sure you want her in there as this is personal news." the lawyer Mr. Johnson said to me.

"Yes, she is the mother of my soon to be child and therefore has the right to know anything concerning me," I said to him confidently, while Claire squeezed my hand in a loving gesture.

"Yep as you've heard Mr. Johnson, I'm staying." Claire also added smugly.

"OK so be it. I have bad news." Mr. Johnson said in a serious tone.

"OK give it to me, I can take it," I said to him wincing a little as I lied and really did not want to hear whatever bad news he had.

"I have received a private urgent call about your father's finance. Apparently, an investigation has just discovered that he illegally acquired most of his money doing things like selling firearms and nuclear weapons with terrorists. Therefore, he might just now be facing life in prison and all his assets and money frozen forever."

As he said that I heard Claire gasp in dismay. I just sat there in shock.

"When you say most of his money you don't mean all of it right? And he won't actually become poor right as his mother was worth millions also? "Claire asked with wide eyes.

"Miss, when I say all I actually mean all his money and assets because he is responsible for committing genocide through his selling of weapons to terrorists who took many lives. And as for the mother, I'm now coming to that. Apparently, Nathan since your mother believed herself to be financially secure since your father had billions of dollars. She spent all her money, luxuriously, the private jets, five start hotels, mansions.

Because of that she also created for herself a big debt which she was going to pay off with your father's money. However, now that your father's money is no longer available, I'm sorry to say that you now have to pay off the debt by other means. "He continued.

I could see that Claire now had a horrified expression on her face.

"How much money in total do I have right now and how much is the debt.” I carefully asked him afraid of the answer.

"In total right now, you have a hundred thousand dollars and the debt is sadly a billion dollars. Other means the debt could be paid is by selling your assets the ones in your name, this mansion, and all the other ones, the cars, the jets, etc. basically everything. The extra change left could then be given to you to look after yourself as you go and live with one of your relatives." Mr. Johnson said and as he finished speaking the thoughts started swimming in my head.

In debt.

No more expensive cars.

No more expensive spending, and no more servants.

All my life I had lived rich and now I was actually going to be that disgusting word POOR. My brain not being able to take all this in, I fainted right on the spot.
