Chapter One Hundred and Sixty Five

****

The final day of the competition finally arrived.

Fiona as usual came promptly to the venue wearing formal clothing. She wore a cream and black woolen sweater and black office pants.

Making her look sophisticated yet simple. Ahn had gotten her the clothes forcibly saying it would suit her perfectly and to her surprise it did suit her perfectly.

Her shape showed perfectly in the clothes and it made her pale skin shown brighter than before.

You look stunning in this piece sisi, Cassie exclaimed happily when she saw her sister.

Did Ahn get this for you, she whispered. Forced it down my neck this morning.

I wanted to wear something less flashy.

He said “You just had a big fight with the big bosses, let them feel a little resentful for making you cry yesterday.” She said, forming his accent.

Cassie laughed at her words. Typical of him. Why was Turner worried, Cassie asked.

I don’t know, I think he thought the person who released Trisha was him just to taunt Maxwell.

Ahn would do that? Cassie’s eyes widened.

Fiona shrugs, you know how crazy he is when he wants something. I bet Turner was just paranoid after yesterday’s event.

Oh! Are you still not talking to him? Cassie asked now. She had heard what went wrong from Turner himself last night.

Cassie was surprised he didn’t hide the truth from her or Thompson. He didn’t bother clarifying the issue with Trisha Black being released by him and Cassie could tell he didn’t know about it either.

I don’t think he was the one that had her released.

“He wasn't,” Fiona concluded. “Then why are you still angry with him?” she asked.

He lied to me and used me for his own purpose, that is what I don’t like.

I understand him but I won’t accept the fact that he used me for his silly games and Max? Cassie asked.

Fiona said nothing to that and just focused on her work.

I won’t ask again she said then sat opposite her sister. You will be called on soon. They are setting the stage already, Cassie chimed.

Yes, Cass, she sighed.

The final day of the competition was split into three, the ballet finals, and the top pianist that will play against Matt.

Do you think Trisha would do something today against Matt? Cassie asked her.

I mean there has to be a purpose for her being released right?

I can’t see the future Cass, I can only speculate what she is doing.

Fiona mused to herself. If Turner didn’t release Trisha and it wasn’t Ahn, then Xavier did. How did Xavier know, Trisha was a thorn?

They have a mole in the company, Fiona realized. No wonder Xavier was able to know how to hit her and where.

But then, Ahn said Trisha was supposed to create a rift on the final day which was surprising how the rift happened before today and Trisha was set to be killed.

The real Gifted Hand would be playing against Matt today, she thought. Ahn had gone in search of her using an anonymous link.

Fiona wondered how those idiots missed it. The one person they hired to do their dirty work was right under their noses and they had no idea.

Today will be eventful, she thought. Ahn is troublesome, she thought. The way he laid out his plan yesterday was funny.

They needed to force Xavier to throw all his cards on the table. Out of all Xavier’s plan, taking her out was what she doesn’t understand how it fits.

She thought of every possibility till she started having a headache. First, he brought in Ama and Turner revealed who he truly is to Max and now, he sent her a video of Max’s agreement with him but why does he need to take her out after all this?

Not wanting to dwell too much she started preparing for the draft of the day before the program officially began.

Cassie watched as her sister spaced out in front of her. She is hiding something huge but Cassie won’t point it out because when Fiona is like this it means the issue is not something she can talk about and Cassie respects her sister’s wishes even though she wishes she could constantly confide in her.

Why don’t I go and check on them outside? Since I am your chief designer for this, Cassie smiled.

Alright, Fiona muttered. Cass, Fiona called her name before she left.

Huh! Cassie turned to see her sister’s eyes a little moist, thank you she heard her whisper wondering what was that about she nodded and then left the room.

Maxwell enters the office immediately after Cassie leaves.

We need to talk, he said to her but Fiona wasn’t having it. No, we did all the talking already she said to him.

Why are you here so early, she asked him.

To speak to you he said to her. I don’t think Mr Harold gets what it means to be left alone.

The program is yet to start and I don’t think…… She was suddenly shut up by a searing kiss on her lips.

Maxwell kissed her, pouring the fear, the frustration of not knowing where she was, the anger, jealousy, guilt and the obsession he felt towards her into her mouth.

Fiona wanted to push him away like she did yesterday but she was too weak to his advances. Maxwell is the only man that can make her wanton and submissive.

She knew he loved her and she did him too. At first, she gave him nothing, not even a resistance but when he pressed on, she gave in and kissed him in the same vigor.

The fear that plagues her. SH doesn’t want to lose him as much as he doesn’t want to lose her.

When he released her, they were both huffing for breath.

Let’s talk, he said to her again.
