Warm Memories
ABRM28
CHARLOTTE'S POV:-
The sound of the door being unlocked made me open my eyes again. I sat up on the ground, and looked around. At first, I was confused because I couldn't remember anything. The door opened and Benjamin's tall figure entered the bedroom, holding a few bags in his hands. He walked into the bedroom and it was locked again, from the outside. I rolled my eyes at him.
Benjamin placed the bags on the table and walked toward me. He crouched down on the ground in front of me. I was rubbing the sleep off of my eyes. "Did you fall asleep on the ground?" He asked me in his gentle tone. That very tone that used to melt my heart inside my chest.
I gritted my teeth in anger as I stood up. "Like you care. You are the one who locked me up in this room." I growled at him. As I was about to walk away, he grabbed my wrist and pulled me. I gasped loudly as I thought I was about to fall on my butt. But instead, I fell on his lap. My breath hitched as I felt something hard beneath me, poking in my butt.
Benjamin pressed his cheek against mine and started rubbing it, making me lose my mind. "I do care. That's why you are here. And I will stop locking you once I will be sure that you won't hurt yourself or run away." He whispered in my ear. Although I heard each and every word that he spoke, loud and clear. Yet those words didn't make sense since I was too lost feeling his touches.
He stopped moving and wrapped his arms around me. "You must be hungry. I brought food. Why don't you go and freshen up? I will get the table ready?" He whispered in that same gentle tone. I was about to open my mouth to tell him that I was not hungry, my stomach suddenly growled so loudly, announcing that I was starving.
That's when I remembered, I hadn't had breakfast or lunch. I didn't even know that it was dinner time. It didn't make any sense why I would sleep so peacefully for the whole day after being forced to marry the man that I hated. I was so cozy on that cold and hard floor, I didn't even open my eyes.
I didn't argue with him. I stood up and went to the bathroom. After freshening up, I walked out of the bathroom. I walked into the closet and grabbed a blue tank top and a pair of cotton shorts. I changed that wedding dress, wiped my makeup off of my face with the removers this time. I untangled my hair then tied it up in a messy bun.
As I stepped out of the closet, the scent of baked cheese pasta, along with some fried chicken made me moan. "Don't make those sounds, Tinkerbell." Benjamin spoke in a low tone as he sat down on the couch, shamelessly showing his hardness to me. He patted the space beside him on the couch, gesturing to me to sit with him.
Since I was practically starving, I decided not to fight. Besides, fighting him or arguing with him was useless. It was from the beginning that he would win all the arguments that we ever had. And I was always the one who ended up submitting or compromising.
He had the plate in his hands. He grabbed the fork and filled the fork with some pasta. He brought it closer to my mouth, gesturing to me to take a bite from his hand. I pushed a strand of my hair behind my ear and took that bite. "It's good, isn't it?"
………………
After dinner, he took a shower. Once he stepped out, I went to shower. As I stepped out of the bathroom, I found the room cleaned up and the bed was made. Benjamin was only in his boxers, patting the pillows. "Why are you here, Benjamin?" I asked as I feared something he was about to do to me.
He looked up and smiled, as if I was not in fear. "I am your husband. You are my wife. Where else would I be after marrying you?" Instead of answering my question truthfully, he asked me a stupid question after reminding me of what he had done to me. And after everything, he was expecting me to be normal. Like I used to be when we first got married.
He walked toward me and grabbed my hand. He took me to the bed and made me sit on one side of the bed. "Cut the crap, Benjamin. You are here to sleep with me." I growled at him, a little louder this time. His eyes met mine and for some reason, they darkened up with lust. My heart shuddered at the thought of sleeping with him.
Benjamin pushed me on the bed and hovered over me. His face was so close to mine, I could taste his minty breaths inside of my mouth. "I am here to sleep with my wife, yes! What's wrong with that?" Leaning closer to my ear, he seductively whispered. I had to clap my thighs together to stop that annoying throbbing I felt between my legs.
I wanted to push him off of me. But my limbs felt numb like always. I was about to open my mouth to tell him to leave when he whispered something seductively in my ear again, making my heart skip a beat. "But I am not going to bang you right now. Not without getting your permission."
Leaving me breathless, he laid down on the other side of the bed. He was humming that same song again. I quietly laid down on my side. When I was hoping not to get more surprises, he suddenly snuck one of his arms around me and pulled me to his chest. "What are you doing, Ben?" I asked, my heart pounding against my rib cage.
He pulled me even closer, I ended up placing my head on his chest. My arms wrapped around him on their own. My heart ached as a memory came rushing to my mind. "You used to sleep peacefully whenever I held you in my arms. That's exactly what I am doing." He whispered, making me turn my face to look at him.
My eyes started to water up. The pain was back in my chest. The pain I felt the day he left me to die alone. "How can you do that? After everything, how can you believe that I can be yours again? After everything you made me go through, how can you still believe that there is anything left to be fixed between us?" I asked in a low tone.
Despite sleeping the whole day, I didn't know why I was feeling sleepy all of a sudden as he held me in his arms. Or maybe, it was just my crazy heart that was still not over the man I truly fell in love with. There was no greed between us. Just the purity of our relationship.
"If I would have believed any of that, I wouldn't have to force you again to marry me. I know what I did. I just asked for another chance because I had made a mistake." He whispered, playing with my long locks like before. Except this time, everything had changed between us.
I was no longer the stupid girl who believed everything that he said to me. "How can I ever trust you after you broke all your promises? And after everything, you expect me to give you another chance? What was my fault, Ben?" Along with those painful words, tears also started flowing freely from my eyes. He wiped my tears with the pads of this thumb and tightened his hold around me.
"Just give me some time, Tinkerbell. I promise I will fix everything between us. I promise I will make it up to you. For everything that I have done, I will make it up to you." Shaking my head, I just closed my eyes. He didn't understand the part that I didn't trust that man for anything.
"Benjamin, there is nothing left to fix between us. The day you left me, Charlotte who fell in love with you died. I can't love the man I hate the most in this whole world." I whispered bitterly, breaking the heartbreaking news to him that he refused to understand. I heard his heart skipping a few beats before he placed a soft kiss on my forehead.
"And yet, your heart still skips a beat whenever I kiss you or touch you. If I fail to change your mind, I will free you. But for now, you are stuck with me." He whispered softly in my ear. He pushed his hand inside my top and started massaging my back gently. It was one of his tricks that made me fall asleep faster. It worked like always. My eyelids started to feel heavy until I couldn't remember anything.
