Chapter 74: Mel's call

Kayla's room

I locked the door of my room and I made my way closer to the mirror, years roll down my eyes as I saw my reflection on the mirror, Brad was right! We sometimes lie to ourselves so that we won't get hurt but it doesn't work like that. We will be so heartbroken when we finally hear the truth

Brad's words kept ringing in my ear, I used my hands to wipe away the tears that were falling from my eyes

After standing in the mirror for a few minutes, I made my way into the bathroom to shower, it was a cold night, everywhere was still dark but I was sure that the sun will soon rise, I stood under the shower and I let the warm water touch my body making me feel relaxed, I closed my eyes and tried to ignore everything and focus on one thing

I needed to sleep and rest now, I didn't want to think of anything else, I just wanted to have a good night's rest and wake up the next morning to the smiling face of my children

I didn't want to come out of the bathroom, it was warm but my legs were weak and my eyelids were heavy and I needed to sleep. I wrapped a towel around my body and walk out of the bathroom, I sighed and walked to my closet and I brought out my blue pajamas. I wore the pajamas and claimed my bed and as soon as my body touched the bed, I fell asleep

I woke up as the bright ray of sun fell and touched my face, I brought my hands to my face and covered my eyes so that my eyes could adjust to the light

I turned and used the pillow to cover my face, I sighed as I closed my eyes, I wasn't ready to get out of bed now, I wanted to sleep for a long because my whole body ached and was feeling weak

I closed my eyes but I couldn't fall back asleep so I sat up on my bed and I rest my back on the bed as I smiled at the space, I wasn't thinking straight but I thought maybe I can have a future with Louis but I don't think it would be possible, it's not in the card and fate is pulling us away from each other, I couldn't be with Louis and to hell with this mate bond

I felt like I was a burden to Louis and it felt like staying close to him would bring him great loss, I know Brad is the enemy but I couldn't help but listen to his words, he was right, the more I stay closer to Louis, the more Louis will lose himself and he can lose everything because of me and I don't want that, Brad told me not to trust him but I was confused and as I sat there, my phone rang and I immediately turned to where I kept my phone

"Hello" I heard Mel say, it has been a long since we talked and right now I needed to talk to someone but Mel wasn't the type of person I'd want to talk to right now, I don't even know if she'll understand so I decided to not say a word about it to her

"Hello, Mel," I said

"Kayla! I have been so busy, how are you doing" Mel said, she was busy with her family and I envy Mel a lot, she has a lot of things that I don't, she has a happy family but I don't, I have been pretending for so long and I have to continue because I want to see my children happy

"I am fine thank you, Mel," I said

"Okay sweetie, I'm calling to check up on you," Mel said

"And also... Your mom is sick, but she said I shouldn't tell you because she doesn't want you to come" Mel said and I sighed

"How long has she been sick," I asked

"I don't know but she said it's not serious and she's on meds," Mel said and I nodded my head although I know she couldn't see me

"Okay" I replied

"I want to make breakfast now, I'll call you later," Mel said

"Okay" I replied before she cut up the call and ask soon as I dropped my phone, the door of my room flew open I turned to face the door and I saw my three little angels run into the room while Lily tried to catch with them

They ran to me and claimed the bed and they hugged me, "Mom, we miss you" Beck said and I chuckle

"I'm fine and I'm glad that you guys are fine too," I said as I kissed their forehead

"Grandma didn't want us to disturb you but we wanted to see you," Jojo said as she turned to Lily

"Yes but Grandma didn't I tell you that my mama wouldn't be mad at us," Kevin said I giggled and I kissed my forehead

"How are you Kayla," Lily asked

"I'm fine thank you" I nonchalantly replied

"We were all worked sick about you," Lily said

"Even Papa, he was restless," Jojo said before I could even reply to what Lily said

"I'm here now and we all should be more careful next time I don't want that lesson teacher to teach you again," I said

"She's in the dungeon," Lily said and I nodded

"How was your night," I asked

"It was fine Mom but I was worried about you," Beck said and I brought his hands to his face and touched it gently

"I'm safe so don't worry," I said as we all sat on the bed, I was glad that they were safe, and seeing them here with me made me happy, I was only in this house because I want them to be happy and I want them to have everything they want
