The Lycan King

Alison's Point of View:

Back at my pack, I've heard quite a lot about the lycan kingdom. It was occupied by Lycans, vampires, witches, warlocks, fairies, dragons, and rejected werewolves. The kingdom was a protective shield to all creatures.

I hadn't been there before, and I am sure that most members of my former park were scared of the kingdom. It was rumored that the kingdom walls were surrounded by darkness, dragons, and mighty giants. No one can enter the kingdom and leave in one piece, without the king's permit.

Berry Wagon, Alpha of the Red Moon Pack, one of the most powerful werewolf parks in the world, was under the Lycan king's command. Berry could take down thousands of packs, Alpha Henry's included. She was nicknamed the goddess of war because she never failed to come out victorious whenever she fought in a battle.

Now think about this, if such a powerful Luna is subject to the Lycan King, how much more a poor Beta like me?

I even heard that the Lycan King was an old man and that his children were rude and uncultured. According to the rumours, he killed his wife and inherited her kingdom. Ever since then, the wife's spirit has been tormenting her children.

Thinking about the rumours made me scared and anxious. And although I tried to put on a brave expression, I still couldn't help but wonder if I would find favor in the lycan king's sight.

Sitonsia looked at me with concern in her eyes, it was as if she could sense and understand my worries. “Don't think too much, no one will hurt you, the king is a very understanding man,” she assured me, flashing me a smile. I nodded my head at her and tried to believe her words, but Dido made it impossible.

“Don't believe her. If the king orders us to slice your body into pieces and feed your flesh to the fowl of the air, trust me, we will do it right away!” Dido said, grinning like an old witch.

“Huh?” I quickly turned to look at Sitonsia, praying and hoping that Dido was making things up, but Sitonsia bowed her head sadly.

“The king will surely let you live.” Sitonsia comforted me with a broad smile on her face.

“Oh, and how do you know that?” Dido asked with a cunning voice. It was evident through her tone that she wanted me dead.

“Well, lady Brunelle, the king's sister, was here, and she looked genuinely happy when she saw you sleeping,” Sitonsia told me and knelt beside me. “She was really happy to see you, young lady. I mean it,” she whispered into my ears, and I nodded my head at her, believingly.

“Lady Brunelle was happy because she saw human fertilizer for her garden, and so was the king! Or do you think the king abandoned his hunting because of a non-entity human like this lady?” Dido asked Sitonsia, looking at me with furrowed brows, and I looked lost, unsure of what to believe.

“Hmm, well-”

“There is no hmm,” Dido rudely cut Sitonsia before she could finish her sentence. “The last pest that distracted the king was beheaded in front of her family, and her blood was used to wash her intestines. Trust me, you are not different from that pest,” Dido informed me with a grimace, and I immediately caught cold feet.

Sitonsia looked conflicted, it was as if she didn't know what to say to defend or comfort me. I became scared, and I began to struggle with the handcuffs again. I was so busy that I failed to hear when the door was opened.

“Your majesty!” Sitonsia and Dido bowed as they greeted the man who entered, and I quickly turned to see his face.

In front of me stood a very handsome man, matching the description of the man who appeared to me at the forest, and I guessed he was one of the king's grandsons.

While Mandy stood at his back, giggling excitedly, the man had a stern look on his face, and he regarded me with his piercing yellow eyes. I shuddered in fear under his gaze, and I wondered if every lycan had such a powerful aura.

“He will surely kill me, I have to escape while I still can!” I told myself. “I must find a way to escape. The lycan kingdom is a den for human trafficking, so it's either I escape or I get sold to the evil fae (fairy) territory.” I thought to myself.

‘Look at what I have become - a slave.’ I reasoned and shook my head thoughtfully. I no longer possessed the right to act of my own volition. If my master asked me to sit, I must comply; if he commanded me to bend, I must bend; if he demanded for my life, I must surrender it! Yes, that’s the life of a slave. I belonged to someone; I was a property.

Human trafficking and slavery was nothing out of the ordinary back at Henry's pack. I once heard that my father was involved in human trafficking when he lost his job. But the only difference was that it was illegal, and they hid their business away from Alpha Henry.

The air surrounding us was tense and foreboding, and all I could hear was the fast thudding of my heart. I was too nervous to think properly. My gaze and the man's locked, and I quickly lowered my head, intimidated by his piercing stare. His intense scrutiny sent shivers down my spine, and I could feel his eyes on me, particularly on my face, but I didn't dare to look up.
