Chapter 120
Conversation goes on smoothly and so does the night. I got myself slightly buzzed with the wine, and was very giddy. All in all I was just glad to have companionship and from a person of my own kind. It felt nice.
When it was late enough, Jeremiah said his farewells and was ready to leave. I escort him to the door to see him out, but he seems to have more in mind.
As he slips out the door, I standing at the door frame barefooted. He slips is arms around my waist and pulls me in for a hug. He has never tried to hug me before, this was a first. I let him hug me, no harm could come out of that. It was just a friendly hug.
At least that's what I thought. Turns out it wasn't innocent either.
As he goes to let me go, he looks deep into my eyes and something crosses his eyes. A sort of darkness I am very familiar with. The sort that I would call ‘lust'.
Before I know it, his mouth is covering mine and it feels all wet. I wasn't responsive, how could I be. This man was kissing me!
I nudge him away and make a face. "I am sorry but I think you are on the wrong page." I say, with that I turn without waiting for an answer and slam the door right in his face.
I flinch as the loud bang sounds all over the apartment and hope it wasn't loud enough to wake up the pups. I was definitely sober now, all that wine gone from my head.
Why did it feel like I just betrayed my marriage? Wasn't Aiden the one who did it first. To this point I was confused.
Taking myself to the bedroom, I undress quickly in attempts to stop, myself from thinking about what happened. But the truth was I couldn't.
The mental image still in my head, even the feel. Gosh I didn't want to have to think about it. Think about his mouth and soft it was. No. Bella you do not want to go there. I whisper to myself shutting my eyes as tight as I could to the point that I could see little twinkling spots at the back of my eyelids. But mentally that kiss was still in front of me.
Something deep gutted at my insides, I don't really know how I can describe it but it felt neither good nor bad. It was just there mulling inside me.
The rest of the night was spent like that, twisting and turning. Thinking and musing.
My thoughts varied from thinking of Aiden and how I betrayed him, then I would remember how he betrayed me. then all together I would think of how Jeremiah's kiss really turned me on. that last part there was the thing I was most terrifying of them all.
I wasn't ready to jump into other things just after breaking of my marriage. I needed time to heal from that experience. It is tragic and traumatic for me, one day I think I have the best life a girl could ask for then the next I am deprived and almost hungry. I wasn't going to let a man show me that he can take care of me.
I was going to be the grownup and provide for my children. Broken hearts were still going to come, but that shouldn't stop me from being a person who can and most definitely will stand for herself even if she had a thing with an influential person.
Those were too much of head aches better be left alone till a could handle it all. Not today though, not tomorrow but some day.
I didn't notice when I fell asleep, I was just glad that I didn't carry the thoughts with me into my dreams. I don't even remember if I had one at all.
In the morning, I got up early, early than normal and was out the door before the sun was able to say good morning. I have been doing this for some days now. After that awkward encounter the other day, I didn't want to have a run in with him.
I suspected that he came by rang a few times only to notice that I had already left. He might have buzzed Dolly too, he knew I kept the pups with her. by today he should have gotten a hint. I was avoiding him.
Even at work, I did my very best to avoid him. The very first morning after the kiss, he came to find me at work since he didn't find me home. I had to plead with my life to convince Moira to take my tables while he was there. She had to rant first that she had seen this coming and that she was right.
She was, and she was a darling too. She automatically covered for me answering him that I had stepped out for a bit when he asked. It was sweet and it earned her more lunch break time while I covered hers.
I only wondered how long I was going to get away with it. Soon I was bound to meet him. I only hoped then I would be prepared, Right now I wasn't.
Time was almost clocking end of shift but today there was no sign of Mr. coffee according to Moira. Maybe he got the point.
It was finally four o'clock and shift was over. I untied my hair from its pony tail and just let my scalp breath. The luscious copper curls floating in the wind. Its slightly windy today.
With swift quick steps, I hurry towards my building like I am being chased. Honestly, it felt like I did. But there was no one there. It was just the run in I had in the ally way with Jeremiah himself.
He practically waited for me there knowing my route beforehand. He had apologized of what had happened and didn't want to make things Awkward. He admitted to liking me and hoping for more someday but he wasn't going to force me to it. I liked that he was honest but so did I hate it.
