Chapter 121
Aiden
San Francisco. The city my wife fled to, I had gotten that tip weeks ago. They had tracked the train and blah blah blah you don't want to hear all that detail. What matters is how I insanely dropped everything to come for my wife. I was done playing it was time they came home.
The crazy reason that drove them off in the first was no longer a member of this world but another. There was no reason I was going to torture myself without my family.
As soon as I got here I tried doing it the old fashion way. That time you had to walk around town with a picture in hand asking people if they have seen them. I had no photo of them so I had to try my best and describe them. Red headed girls with babies where everywhere. She could be anyone and I still kept on.
I know, it's safe to say grief cut out my intelligence source but just between you and me.
If two weeks ago today I had thought of what I had done today. It would have saved me a lot of time and energy. Why hadn't I thought of it, private detectives handle the situation nice.
All I had to do now was wait for his call and tell me where my wife was. I could now retire to my overly expensive hotel room and relax. Of course when I was coming here, I came prepared. Not everyone could afford sleeping at the cloudy gates in one of their best suites for more than two weeks but I could.
For me, the hotel was appropriately named. It was a wonder that such a building existed. It was the tallest building I have seen so far in this life of mine. It run up to the clouds and out.
Most of the base of the building accommodated a mall that run up the tower looking infrastructure to the point where you could see the clouds near. The rest upper part had the hotel. It run up up through the clouds that the rooms up there had a sense of being in heaven. It looking so amazing to be up in your room looking out the window but all you could see was a floor made of clouds. They had made sure that none of the windows in the upper wing could open. Imagine what would happen if they did. I bet you there would be colorful art work by the side of the hotel.
I was just grateful for the view though it took forever to get here in the lift. My room was comfortable. It was a double room because I thought I would have found them by now and that a little vacation wouldn't hurt. We all have been through a lot it was time to rest.
Now that I had put the matter into Mr. Wilson's hand I could take this time to sort out my mind. What was I going to tell her after we met? Was she still mad at me?
She was going to have to forgive me for the sins I didn't make. I only had to convince her I didn't make them.
"Oh dear wife, I promise not to delay us anymore." Speak more than loudly to the empty room. I turn my head to the side to look out the massive uncovered glass that stood in between me and those clouds. Cloudy gates indeed.
I was lying on my back with nothing to do since I can no longer waste my time parading around town. The mad thing about that is that San Francisco was not just a city. It was a damn huge city. The damn for good measure.
What was I to do now. Relax has always been a foreign word in my vocabulary. Naturally I keep myself active so that I don't have to sit and think then overthink. I did get along with depression like that. I would rather show rage and be done with it that way I am equally satisfied with my handy work.
If you couldn't fight it, better make good use of it then. My anger has gotten me famous more than the alpha status has. If you've heard of Aiden Davis, you know not to mess with me.
But these were different times and a changed Aiden. I found myself less angry when I imagined the sweet innocent face of my wife. Her pure self just made it easier for me to breath. It showed me that not all was bad with the world after all. Some had the kindest of hearts to let me be theirs despite having a close relative strongly disapprove.
I was glad she chose to stick it with me all the way, until they went sour. Not the lemonade type but rather the white vinegar type of sour.
I hadn't known it but it seemed liked I had drifted off to sleep. It was the first time ever I had had a decent rest. I was unbothered and out of stress. It felt like a huge weight had lifted off my shoulders, a weight that was weighing me down. But it was gone now.
I must have really been stressed for it to take a toil like that on me. With a clear head now, it was easy to think straight. I had the ability to make more sound decisions now.
I had room service brought up, I showered put on some sweats and I was ready to sit. I thought watching something would be very helpful. And while am at it, might as well watch a movie.
