Chapter 269 - No more grudges
The packed council and ministers heard about the scandal between the Current Beta and Luna, and they sent them a notice about the council meeting.
Anastasia was told to stay in the pack with the rest of them. Patricia remained there for the council to make a verdict the next day.
The next morning, the council gave them the punishment of serving lifetime imprisonment in jail.
Anastasia’s name was cleared off, and she was given the title of the Luna in her mom’s place. Anastasia gave Freya and Ryan a light punishment.
They were to work in the packhouse as servants alongside others. Patricia is to serve 5 years in jail along with compensation.
But, Anastasia didn’t like that. She wanted to lower her punishment but the council didn’t listen to her.
“So, Princess Anastasia, when are we returning to our pack? Or are you planning to stay here forever?” Sebastian asked, sitting across the bed.
“Do we have to leave right away?” she asked, putting down the book she was reading.
“Yes,” Leon interrupted, opening the door. “I’ve abandoned work for too long just to handle the issue here. I’ve managed it for some days, but I don’t think it’ll be possible anymore.”
“I hate to agree with Leon, but he’s right,” Nikolai asserts, walking over to the side of the bed. “We need to return by today.”
She glanced at her hands and then replied, “Well, alright then. When are we leaving?”
“By afternoon, if possible. Mom told me to return home as early as I can,” Nikolai replied, signs of worry showing on his forehead.
“Mom? Your mom?” she asked, sounding a bit surprised. “Why did she tell you to return?”
“Not just me,” he explained. “She told all of us to return, along with you.”
“With me? Am I hearing it right?”
“Do I look like I’m joking?”
“No, I mean…..it’s your mom we are talking about. I thought she would say something like, stay there forever if you can…some sort.”
Everyone went silent.
“Let’s go back and see what she’s up to,” she replied, looking at their faces.
They headed towards the car and Ryan walked over to her side, standing in front of them.
She looked at him puzzled. “What do you want?”
“My dad got lifetime imprisonment and I have to become a servant? Why do I need to be punished as well? Didn’t you used to love me?”
“And yet, you did try to take advantage of her,” Sebastian asserts. “So, you deserve it.”
“I hate you!” Ryan yelled, pointing at her.
Anastasia smiled. “Me too. I hate you as well, and I’m glad about it. Enjoy your punishment. Let’s go.”
They walked past from his side and entered the car.
After reaching home, Anastasia and the three boys were greeted by their parents who sat in the living room with all the maids present behind them at the spot.
She walked towards them steadily, feeling nervous.
The situation was tense.
“Mom, Dad, we returned just now,” Nikolai informed.
“Take a seat all of you.” His mom replied.
They sat across them, and then the dad began to speak.
“We’ve heard about the incident that happened at the Ravens pack. And we want to talk about it.”
She became alarmed.
“Are they going to talk about Uncle and Mom? That’s so embarrassing.”
“I’ve heard that all the accusations against you have been cleared off,” his mom inquired.
“Uh, yes,” she gave a nod. “The council, made me the Luna as there’s no one to take up after me. and Freya is given punishment as well. So, everything falls under my responsibility now.”
“Which means, that you are in equal position to us now,” his dad added.
“Um, I don’t know about that. You obviously have more land and wealth compared to us puny pack,” she asserted.
“That doesn’t matter,” his mom interrupted. “All that matters is that you are in an equal position to marry our sons now.”
Leon, Sebastian, and Nikolai all became stunned to hear that.
Anastasia watched them in awe.
“Did you–“
“Welcome to the family,” the Alpha said with a smile. “We have no complaints against you now.”
“Congrats!” Sebastian hugged her tightly in front of his parents.
“Congrats to all of us!” Leon added, joining them.
“So, that’s the reason why you called me to return home as soon as we can?” Nikolai asked.
His mom nodded. “Yes. Cause she was able to prove herself innocent. We don’t want to hold any grudges anymore. And I want to make a formal apology for our behavior towards you previously. Just because we knew you did something wrong, we held it against you and failed to see your true character. But, our sons managed to know you for who you are. That’s why they fell in love with you.”
“We as adults failed to judge your character, that’s our mistake. We are deeply sorry about it,” his dad apologized, lowering his head.
“Please raise your head!” she replied sternly. “There’s no need for you to apologize. Cause, if I were in your position, I would’ve done the same as well. So, you weren’t wrong. The situation created this environment. You aren’t the one to be blamed for it.”
“Then, you are forgiving us?” the Luna asked.
Anastasia nodded, smiling softly. “I never held anything against you. You can be assured.”
“I think we shall find a perfect date for the wedding, don’t you think so dear?” the alpha asked, smiling at Luna.
“Yes, next week sounds great.”
“Wedding?” Anastasia looked at them with a puzzled face. “Isn’t it too soon?”
“No, it’s actually quite late considering how long you’ve been living here,” their mom replied. “We want to give you the title you deserve with everyone’s blessings. So, we need to make haste.”
Anastasia lowered her head with a smile. “Thank you. I still can’t believe all of this is really happening.”
“You deserve all this, learn to accept it,” Nikolai added with a soft smile.
“How about we pick a date today?” Sebastian suggested. “It’s still only evening. We have lots of time at hand.”
“Not a problem with me,” their mom smiled. “You don’t have any problem, honey?”
“Nah, I’m actually eager to know about their ideas. It’s the first time our son is agreeing to do something altogether.”
They discussed and picked out a date on the first day of next week.
“Can you believe, we are getting married very soon?” Anastasia asked, sitting on the bed with Leon sitting on her right.
“All four of us are marrying on the same day. It’s a great feat if you consider it,” Sebastian chuckled, as he sat on her left.
“Why, you don’t like the idea?” Nikolai remarks, sitting on the chair. “And why are we disturbing her at this hour again?”
“Cause we want to keep a watch on Leon,” Sebastian replied. “He sneaked into her room again today. He’s definitely planning to do something.”
“Mind your business,” Leon grunted. “I’m here to give her company. She lives in her room on her own.”
“And having all of us here makes her feel more suffocated,” Nikolai complained, glancing in his direction.
“No one’s telling you to stay, you can leave.”
Sebastian chuckled, bursting out in laughter.
“Get going, Nikolai. Leon gave the verdict already.”
Nikolai stood up and walked over to the side of the bed.
“What do you want now?” Leon comments.
“Yes, I’ll be leaving,” Nikolai replied, smiling mischievously. He climbed on the bed and picked her up in his arms skillfully. “But, only after taking my prize.”
Leon and Sebastian got off the bed the very minute.
“Hey, put her down!” Leon yelled.
Anastasia wrapped her arms around Nikolai securely.
“I’m not obliged to listen to you, see you peasants,” Nikolai remarks, winking at them, before fleeing out of the room in a hurry.
Leon went after him.
Sebastian smiled and followed behind him. “They are such a handful. Wait for me!”
