Chapter 268 - The real murderer

“I heard that you admired Dad a lot. Could really do something like this just because of some money?” Anastasia asked as tears trickled down her face.

Patricia lowered her head and held onto Anastasia’s hands, tightly.

“I gave into the temptation of momentary pleasure and did something horrific beyond words. The goddess wouldn’t forgive me for it, I know. And I can’t forgive myself either, nor can I ask to be forgiven. All I wanted was to take the burden off my chest by speaking with someone about it.”

“But, that person is never coming back. Is he?” Nikolai comments. “What you did under someone’s instructions cost him his life. He left this world, leaving his relations behind. Did he expect his death even in his dreams?”

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I didn’t think of the consequences afterward. I didn’t think that my lies and deeds would make her life so much harder. Or else, I wouldn’t have done it.”

“You might’ve turned down their offer, but like you, someone with a poor economic background would do the deed instead. The one you really need to blame, is these three,” Sebastian comments, looking in Freya’s direction. “Your uncle and Mom are horrible. Why did you allow them to kill your dad?”

Freya looked in Anastasia’s direction. “Because they promised they would give me her place, and I can get married to Ryan too. All that she had, I could take them away from her. That’s why I agreed to it.”

“What nonsense are you speaking, dear?” her mom scoffed. “None of us are involved in the Alpha’s death. Why would I kill my husband? They are just talking rubbish.”

“Yes, I’m getting tired of listening to this farce as well,” Ross added, smiling in confidence. “Patricia, you can stop acting. No one wants to listen to your fake monologues. If you leave right away we won’t take any actions against you. But, if you continue to say we planned everything, we might have to kick you out of this pack as well.”

Patricia didn’t react to it.

“You can’t threaten her in front of so many people,” Leon asserts, stepping forward to stand in front of her.

“If you are getting upset, it means she’s telling the truth, right?” Sebastian remarks with a smirk.

“It seems so,” Nikolai replied. “So, when will you confess your sins?”

By then, the people gathered had started discussing among themselves the scene they were unfolding before their own eyes.

Noticing the crowd’s reaction her mom became frantic.

“We didn’t commit any sins, stop talking rubbish!” Freya’s mom grunted. “She did all that! Anastasia is the true murderer! It’s clear as day. And Patricia is spouting lies because of some money. We never hired her for our motives. Why would I kill my husband?”

“Because something was going on between you and Ross, and your husband found out about it. That’s why you wanted to get him out of your path,” Nikolai responded, looking in Ross’s direction. “Isn’t that the reason you brainwashed your daughter thinking she’ll become the Luna after her father and sister are gone from this pack and marry Ryan?”

“She’s obviously stupid, that’s why she agreed to it,” Leon added.

Freya wanted to interrupt but she kept her head low, staring at her mom’s face.

“There’s no point in hiding the truth anymore. Confess everything, Mom,” she replied, fisting her hands. “I’m disappointed in you after seeing the picture also. You didn’t keep your promise. I have no reason to listen to you two anymore.”

Her mom’s eyes widened in response.

“What are you saying, Freya? Stop talking nonsense! There’s nothing to confess here.”

“There is,” Anastasia replied, walking over to their side. Her face was moist with her tears, but she showed no weakness.

“You have to speak about your deeds. Or else, I’ll be forced to get the truth out of you.”

“And how are you going to do that?” Ross mocked.

“Like this,” Anastasia replied, punching him in the face with quite force.

He fell on the ground on his back by the force of it.

Freya and her mom were shocked.

“Anastasia! How could you do this to him?” she yelled, raising her hand to slap her in the face.

But, Leon caught her hand.

Her mom looked at him with an angry expression.

“Get out of my face. I’m talking to her!” she grunted.

“Sorry for interrupting,” he apologized, glancing at Anastasia. “I knew you wanted to handle this on your own.”

“Thanks, you can step aside now,” she replied.

He nodded and stepped aside while Anastasia and her mom stood face to face again.

“Do you want me to punch you just like I punched him? It’s going to ruin that pretty face of yours. Even though,” she sneered. “There’s nothing pretty about that disgusting personality of yours.”

“You ungrateful brat!” her mom attempted to slap her again but this time, Anastasia held her hand. “Did we raise you just so you could beat us up after growing up?”

“I wouldn’t have done it if you didn’t kill Dad,” Anastasia replied. “I never dreamt of a day where I’ll find out my mom killed my dad just because she had an affair.”

“You don’t have any proof,” Ross groaned in pain, standing up on his feet with a bruised nose. “Back up your words with proof or evidence.”

“Uncle, please stop lying,” Freya pleaded. “I beg of you. They’ve already found out everything. Why are you still–“

“Shut up! You are nothing but a foolish girl. We made you promise that you won’t say a word about it to others. But, yet you are doing this to us. Who’s the liar now?” Ross lashed out at her. “You wanted to sacrifice your father just so you could take the throne and my son away from your sister. You are no saint either.”

“And you? You slept with my mom countless times before Dad died. Dad knew about it, that’s why he wanted to fire you from your position. I remember how many times you argued with Dad about it, and how Mom kept apologizing to him.”

Her mom grabbed her by the hand. “Why are speaking about all this? You are exposing us, don’t you realize it?”

“What’s left there to expose? Everyone knows what kind of a whore you are! Just accept it already–“

Her mom slapped her in the face.

“Don’t you dare address me like that! I’m your mom and the Luna of this pack.”

“You’ve lost that title long ago,” Anastasia stated. “And I think everyone agrees with me as well.”

Her mom looked around and the people gathered looked at her in disbelief.

She could hear them talking badly about their family.

“This is the end for the two of you. Just give up already!” Sebastian added, standing next to Anastasia. Leon stood beside her as well, alongside Nikolai.

In the end, Freya’s mom and Ross accept their wrongdoings in front of their people. Ryan came a bit later and he heard about everything as well.

The whole pack was in chaos after hearing about their Beta and Luna’s secret affair. Ryan and Freya’s marriage became null as well.
