Chapter 13 13
Chapter 13 13
Derek POV
After working tirelessly the whole day, I wrapped things up on my table, picked up my car key, and decided to return home early because of Lily since it was a weekend. A soft smile escaped from my lips just at the thought of my daughter.
Just at the same minute, a knock came on my door, and my secretary walked. He looked a little surprised seeing me prepared to check out of work.
Of course that was unlike me. I would rather overwork than return home early. But strangely, today I missed Lily.
“You are checking out of work?” He asked me.
“Yes. I will see you on Monday.” I mumbled.
I was about to leave, but his expression suddenly changed, and I immediately knew that something was wrong. He was in my office to discuss something.
I raised a brow at her curiously.
“Sir. Someone is here to see you.” He announced.
My brows raised, and I took a glance at my watch. I don’t think I had any appointments with anyone.
“Who is that?” I asked him.
“She said…
He was about to say something, but he was interrupted by the door that sprang open with full force.
“Derek, that brat didn’t want me in. They told me I needed an appointment to see you!” I saw Amanda barged into my office.
I frowned a little and turned to my secretary, who immediately lowered his head.
“She had been at the reception for some time, causing some trouble. I'm sorry she barged in.” He apologised in a low voice.
I had warned him not to let anyone into my office.
I sighed and turned to Amanda, who continued to yell.
“Do you really tell them not to let me in? Why have you been ignoring my calls, Derek?”
“You can take your leave,” I told my secretary.
He nodded and left immediately, leaving me alone with Amanda.
“What did you want do you want?” I asked her.
Hearing that she scoffed.
“You are asking what I want, Derek? Is that why you have been avoiding my calls too?” She ranted.
“I was busy. Is there anything you want?” I asked, showing no emotions on my face. I guessed that was what annoyed her completely.
“Busy? You weren’t busy when you were married, Derek, but after you divorced her.”
I ignored her and grabbed my car key, walking out of my office.
Amanda immediately came after me.
“Talk to me, Derek. You stop acting like you don’t care.” She added.
“That was because I never cared,” I mumbled.
I heard her halt behind me, but I didn’t bother to glance back at her.
Amanda was just my best friend, but we ended up having a night together after getting drunk. I hated the fact that she continued bothering me after that as if we were anything special.
I opened my car door and was about to step in, but she stopped me by coming right in front of me on my way.
“Now that you divorced her, how are you going to take care of Lily?” She asked.
“That should be none of your business.
“What about I become her mother? I really like you, Derek, and you know that. Let’s get things started officially now that she is out of the picture.” Amanda told me, but I wasn’t ready for that.
I don’t want anyone to come between Lily and me anymore, not even anyone that she calls mother.
“Please listen to me, Derek; I love you.” Amanda started caressing my body.
“Get off me!” I pushed her away from me.
With that, I got into my car and drove off without stopping.
I pressed vividly on the accelerator, adding so much to my speed that I returned home to meet my daughter.
After a short while, I finally pulled up in front of the house we called home. The same home Aria and I built together, but now she was no more in the picture. She left me for another man.
I ignored the thought and parked at the parking lot. I walked into the house afterward and was welcomed by the housekeeper.
“Welcome back home, Alpha.” She greeted
“Where is Lily?” I asked just as usual, and that was what she was probably expecting.
“She left for her room just now.” She told me.
She wanted to say something but seemed to hesitate.
I nodded and left for my room instead. I decided to take a shower before going to see Lily and spend some time with her.
I took off my shirt and threw it into the laundry basket. I stripped myself completely naked before walking into my bathroom. I walked into the bathtub and took a warm, scented bath, calming down my whole body.
After taking my time in the bathroom, I returned to my room in my bathrobe. I stood in front of the mirror, staring at my reflection, especially my huge self under my bathrobe.
Probably if it were before, I would have brought Amanda to my home and had a steamy night with her, but I lost interest in everything.
My mind is always on Lily, and I won’t want her to witness any dirty scenes.
I took off my bathrobe and put on pyjamas. After I was done, I grabbed my phone and exited the room heading for Lily’s room.
I suddenly ran into the housekeeper.
“Has she had Lynch?” I asked her
She seemed to hesitate a little, and I immediately knew that something was wrong.
“What is it?” I asked her.
“She refused to eat anything. She kept crying and asking for her mommy.” She revealed it to my face.
My expression hardened.
“Why can’t you tell me that when I got in?” I yelled at her.
She immediately lowered her head in guilt.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know how to break it to you.”
“Just get out of my sight!” I screamed at her before storming in the direction of Lily’s room.
I needed to know what was wrong; I had successfully eradicated Aria’s memory. Why is Lily suddenly asking of her again?
