Chapter 824 Well-Prepared

Chapter 824 Well-Prepared

The nurse poured Christina a glass of warm water and turned to see her drenched in sweat.

"Miss Mitchell!"

Before she could finish her sentence, Christina fainted.

Forty minutes later, Lucas arrived.

The driver was waiting outside the ward. When he saw Lucas, he quickly stood up.

"How's Christina?"

"The doctor said Miss Mitchell has been overworked recently and needs to rest due to the pregnancy."

"Pregnancy?"

"Yes, Miss Mitchell is already over five weeks pregnant."

Lucas strode in. Christina was lying on the hospital bed, her face still a bit pale.

Lucas gently touched Christina's hand with concern.

At that moment, Christina woke up.

"Lie down. Don't move." Seeing her trying to get up, Lucas quickly pressed her back down.

"Dad, what happened to Paul?" Christina asked.

"They just said he's missing and are still looking for him. Nicholas has already sent people over, and I've arranged for some help too. Don't worry. Paul is very capable; he won't be in trouble. You need to take care of yourself and the baby first."

"I understand, Dad. Please let me know as soon as you have any news."

"I will. Now, lie down."

"By the way, what did you just say about a baby?" Christina finally realized.

"You're pregnant."

"What?" Christina was stunned.

'Am I pregnant so soon?'

She had just gotten married not long ago, and now her husband was missing, and she was pregnant!

She didn't know whether to be happy or scared.

Christina didn't know whether to worry about Paul first or the baby.

She and Paul had taken contraceptive measures. Paul had planned to have a baby after their wedding ceremony.

Oh, right, there were two times without contraception.

The first time was their first time; they had drunk alcohol and ended up having sex in a muddled state.

The second time was the night before she returned to the country. She and Paul were reluctant to part and didn't pay attention.

So, it was the second time that led to the pregnancy.

Christina placed her hand on her belly and gently stroked it. It felt a bit unbelievable.

"It's so late, I didn't want to disturb your mom. We'll talk about it tomorrow when you're feeling better. Also, we'll tell Paul's mother tomorrow; she doesn't know about Paul's disappearance yet."

"Okay."

Lucas settled Christina and then left.

At night, Christina lay wide awake, unable to sleep.

Her hands were on her belly, and all she could think about was Paul.

They were two completely different people who inexplicably liked each other, then inexplicably got married, and now they had a child.

Christina said to herself, "Paul, don't worry. I will protect our child. You must come back safely."

Christina knew she couldn't do much to help. The only thing she could do was take good care of the baby.

Knox gave her a few days off to rest after learning about her pregnancy and fainting.

Christina was discharged and went home the next day. Seraphina told Ashley about her pregnancy, and Ashley immediately came to visit her.

Christina decided not to tell Ashley about Paul's disappearance for now, as it would only add to her worries.

On the third day of Paul's disappearance, Nicholas decided to go to Terracentra himself. Lucas followed Nicholas after learning about it.

On the fourth and fifth days, there was still no news. Ashley visited Christina at the Mitchell Villa every day and gradually sensed that something was wrong.

Under Ashley's persistent questioning, Christina decided to tell her the truth.

At that moment, Lucas called, and Seraphina answered, "Christina, your dad's on the phone." Seraphina's voice interrupted Christina's thoughts.

Christina quickly walked over to answer.

Her expression turned to one of joy.

After a while, she said, "Okay, I know what to do. Got it."

Hanging up the phone, Christina couldn't hide her excitement as she told Ashley.

"Aunt Ashley, I'm sorry. I didn't want to worry you, so I kept it from you. Paul went missing while on a mission to Terracentra. My dad just called to say they've found Paul, and he's safe."

Ashley's heart tightened with Christina's words but finally relaxed.

"Where is he now?" Ashley asked anxiously.

"My dad didn't say, but don't worry, he's very safe now."

"Did Nicholas go to find him too?"

"Yes."

With Nicholas there, Ashley felt much more at ease.

In Terracentra, Paul lay on a hospital bed with a cast on his hand, smiling at Lucas. "Did you tell Christina? Is she very worried about me?"

Lucas gave him a look. "Next time you do something, inform me first, or at least inform Nicholas."

Paul obediently nodded. "I understand. I'll definitely inform you and Nicholas first next time."

Nicholas stood nearby, expressionless.

"Did you catch them all?"

"Yes, they were caught this afternoon."

Paul's smile faded. Shortly after he got off the plane, he was ambushed.

He had anticipated that Preston wouldn't miss such a good opportunity, so he had planned accordingly. He was taken to a remote area.

The kidnappers called Joseph to demand ransom, intending to create a kidnapping and murder case.

Paul heard Joseph say, "He has a lot of money himself; you can let him ransom himself."

At that moment, Paul had no feelings left for Joseph and was once again disappointed.

This time, he would never have any hope for Joseph again.

The kidnappers made the call just for show; they didn't care who could pay the ransom. They wanted Paul's life.

Paul's hands and feet were tied, and his mouth was sealed. He sat calmly on the ground.

A kidnapper approached him with a knife. Seeing Paul so calm, the kidnapper was curious.

He asked, "Aren't you afraid?"

Paul rolled his eyes.

The kidnapper laughed sinisterly. "Interesting, but no matter how interesting you are, we won't have any more time together."

The kidnapper raised his hand, and at that moment, a group of people with police officers rushed in.

The kidnappers were caught off guard and captured.

Paul was untied, and the tape was removed from his mouth. He grimaced and rubbed his cheeks.

The kidnappers were pinned to the ground, looking unwilling.

"How did you call the police?"

Paul took off an earring. "Let me educate you. This is called a locator."

He had arranged for people two days in advance. If he didn't check in within half an hour after getting off the plane, it meant something had happened.

They would immediately call the police and use the locator in the earring to find him.

Before the kidnappers could act, his people and the police had already arrived nearby.

This forest was unregulated, making it a perfect place for kidnapping and murder, with no one to investigate afterward.

Preston had thought it through, but Paul was also prepared this time.

In the afternoon, the police interrogated the kidnappers while Paul and Nicholas watched from outside.

The kidnappers insisted that they targeted Paul because he looked wealthy and planned to kidnap him for ransom, resorting to murder only when they couldn't get the money.
