Chapter 121
Chapter 121
Dianna
"I am just a messenger for Javier, he is with the Jewel and you will only see alive if you meet his demands."
"What is the demand?" I asked as even myself was unable to recognize Farkas.
Because of his playful nature, I sometimes forget he is as fierce as Fenris. The stranger couldn't stand still, it is as if his upper body has become too heavy for his legs to carry.
"He demands the total surrender of Anu Ukwu Nation, he also knows about Khan's condition."
"His demands are impossible, so there wouldn't even be any negotiations." I replied with a serious look. I know that I just put my daughter's life in danger but irrespective of the answer I give now, her life is already at risk.
"I know when you started this mission, you prided yourself as a revolutionary. You would feel like you are a man of destiny on a great mission. You think in the future, your name would be sung as the brave man that brought the end of a great Nation. How naive you have been, my friend."
Farkas said as he looked at me and I knew what he was about to do and I wasn't against it. The dared walked into the Palace with pride and had the arrogance to utter nonsense. Worse of all, he dared lay those hands of his on my Jewel.
"Tonight you have given up the right to your life. No story would be heard about you nor a song would be sung. When the story of what happened today is told, no one will mention your name. You would be forgotten like you never existed."
The stranger knew the gravity of his mistake. The arrogance which he came in with was nowhere to be found.
"Shouldn't you at least give me a message to send back?" He looked at me pleading with his eyes.
"No need for that, you are right about Khan being indisposed at the moment but that doesn't stop me from matching to Alioma from tomorrow. When we arrive at Alioma, they face obliteration." I answered and Farkas's ambience was suffocating him already.
"I…." He was unable to utter a word.
"Goodbye."
With this word, Farkas struck his throat so hard that he knocked the air out of him. I heard the breaking of his neck.
"Because of the respect of my Queen and this royal cut, I made sure no blood was shed." Farkas bowed and I listened to the stranger's heart as it slowly stopped.
"Prepare for battle, we will be matched to Alioma tomorrow."
I ordered and Farkas bowed and left. My two sisters-in-law stayed with me for the night consoling me, they kept saying I made the right choice. Although I made the right choice, yet it didn't ease the pain or the heaviness. My Jewel is in a strange land and I can't even do anything about it.
We have greatly underestimated Alioma. Without warning, they arrived at our city before the sun rose. They invaded us and didn't even give us any time to react. If it wasn't because of Fenris's action, they would have gotten past the wall.
"Mom, what was this noise all about?" Ralph finally woke up and his super hearing ability made it possible for him to hear all the ruckus.
"You don't need to worry about it, my son." I assure him.
"They are the bad guys right?" He said and I always forget that standing before me is the next in line.
"Yes, they are the bad guys but don't worry, your uncles will take care of them."
"What about my sister, Rieka?"
I can't think of the best answer to give my young Khan. All I did was embrace him and hope he can understand the pain I feel.
"Don't worry Mom, Dad will make everything right again." He spoke with much confidence and I couldn't stop myself from believing in him.
"My Queen, we don't know how long we can endure. Their heretics came prepared and they came with a large number of rogues." Farkas came to tell me. With blood all over his body was a clear testament to how bloody the battle was. Maybe it is time I stop being the Jewel of the Pack and become the strength too.
"Go back, I will come and join you."
He bowed and left. I took my son and message Nora and Cassie to get everyone to the bunker. I wanted to talk to Khan but that would delay me so I locked his door and left with Ralph.
"Take care of my son, it is time I play the role which I have been given."
"No, your role is to be the Jewel, the most prized treasure and the Nation's good luck. Not to be at the war front risking your life." Cassie tried to talk me out of it.
"I have failed at protecting my Mate, keeping my daughter safe and now you want me to fail my Nation too?" They were unable to convince me so they left me to go and took Ralph from me.
"Don't worry, everything will be alright." Ralph said with a smile.
Ralph hardly smiles but when he does, it always pulls your heartstrings. He smiles with his eyes closed and his face will be so bright that it would be like the sun was shining from his face.
I left them and went to join my people in the battle. Joining the battle encouraged my people to become tougher. Fenris and Farkas were proud of my contribution, many of my people have transformed into wolves and many bodies are already laying on the ground. I don't know if I should be glad for having this opportunity to use everything that I have learned.
"We have the Empress with us." Farkas yelled and everyone cheered with him. We started pushing the enemies back and I never felt prouder of myself. As the battle progressed, I couldn't find Javier no matter how much I searched.
"Save your strength, Adoff is yet to arrive." Fenris said as he stood beside me.
"If they are already this formidable without their leader, imagine what will happen when he arrives." As if on queue, we felt his presence and it boosted their morale.
"Anu Ukwu must fall today!"
Adoff yelled and his people started pushing us back. The most annoying thing was their ability to scatter Fenris's formation. They made sure not to give Fenris any chance to make another formation. As I was fighting off the enemy, I saw Javier beside Adoff and he already had his eyes on me. He smirked the moment our eyes met.
"Where is my daughter!"
I yelled and sent stones flying his way. The stones were so devastating that they killed a few rogues but sadly none of the stones was able to reach Javier. I was filled with despair that I didn't notice when Fenris and Adoff engaged in a battle. It was legendary but not close to the one Khan had and for that reason, it wasn't enough to stun everyone.
The battle continued and with Fenris handling Adoff, Farkas engaged in a fight with the Alpha of the rogues. I was left to deal with my personal issues with Javier.
"Well, well, isn't she the most beautiful Luna?" He smirked.
"Are you not ashamed, you couldn't handle us and you resorted to kidnapping a child." He shrugged and was unphased by my insult.
"When you want to go against Khan, you have to be smart. Turns out that the rumors are true. Khan is no more." Javier said and I have no idea how he was able to get to the information that most people in Anu Ukwu have no idea about.
"Khan is still alive." I said.
"Khan is dead!"
He yelled so loud that it traveled the whole battlefield. Everywhere seemed to quiet down and he used the opportunity to continue.
"You people have been deceived by the people you called leaders. You are here fighting for his name and flag but he is no longer of this world." His words were making an impact because it had been such a long time since they saw Khan.
"Look at your Queen fighting, will it be so if Khan is still alive."
He kept talking and I couldn't find it in me to dent his claim. Even Adoff and Fenris stopped fighting to listen to the words of Javier. When it looked like he had completely demoralized my people, we felt the chill. It reminded me of the first day l met Khan. It was cold but there was something distinct about this chill. Everyone went silent even Javier was rendered speechless. The only thing that could be heard is the tiny step of a child. I looked back to see Ralph walking out like he owns the world. This is my that is not up to six years and he is already commanding such authority.
"Khan will always be alive." Ralph said and I couldn't believe seeing my little boy gave me the answer I needed.
"He is nothing but a mere child." Javier said.
"Then why is your face so pale?"
I wish Phoenix was here to see his son following his footsteps. His mere presence alone was enough to affect the battlefield. Javier gasped and his eyes widened like he had seen his death before his eyes.
