Chapter 122
Chapter 122
Dianna
"This can't be?" Javier murmured and I was confused at his sudden change of mood. He was looking behind me like he has been doing but I doubt if my son was the reason for the fear in his eyes.
"Khan?"
I looked back and saw Phoenix standing behind Ralph.
"I told you Mom, he will make everything alright." Unable to control myself, I ran towards him and wrapped my arms around him.
"What took you so long?" I cried and he returned my embrace.
"Sorry, I was lost and I was only able to come back because of your desire for me." I tightened my embrace and felt his heartbeat.
"Now, let me take care of the people that dares to make you cry." The fear in their faces was worth it. They are about to experience a natural disaster.
Khan moved me to his back and his presence in snare fear in the hearts of his enemies. He turned and looked at Ralph and smiled. He was also proud of his son for stepping out. Since I am now a little bit calm, I was able to check out the scars in his body. They have all gone except for the one in his chest. The hole the enemy's finger left on his chest has healed up but the scar still remains. I think it will never heal and will forever be the flaw in his flawless skin. I smiled as I thought of how sensational it will be having my fingers run across it. I quickly hid my smile for it is not good to be having such thoughts on a battlefield.
"You brought war to my doorstep and stressed my Queen." They were all speechless as Khan walked towards them like he owns the world.
"You caused the death of my father." Adoff managed to say.
"No, your unforgiven heart and inability to change with time caused you agony. I didn't fail to notice the heretics you brought with you, I thought you hated them?"
My Khan replied and my eyes caught on the heretics ladies on the battlefield. They were looking at Khan with hungry eyes and I wanted to scream at the top of my voice. He was wearing his pants and nothing more, his upper body is bare and his six-packs and muscles are all on the display. Adoff was unable to deny Khan's claim but hatred still burns in his eyes.
"You came for vengeance, come on, take it."
Khan spread his arms like he was giving himself up. Nobody moved, would move in his sanity because they knew that moving means death.
"If none of you would come to me, then I will come to you instead."
I noticed how there had been a clear division between my people and the enemies. I figured out that it was on Khan's order, he is now standing between us and the enemies. With the enemies focused on Khan, they had no idea when all of my people left their midst. The atmosphere changed and I knew Khan is about to descend on his enemies with a might so great that there will be no escape.
I remembered the words of the mother of all Khans and I wonder if Khan has gotten another source of power and how powerful he has gotten now. I carried Ralph and made him face backwards because he is too young to experience this. I know he will one day take over but for now, I will try my best to protect him.
"Hope you have readied yourself." Khan said and without delay, he lunged at them and the sight was enough to instill a new fear in them and even in his own people. He was the only one needed and they couldn't help but run for their lives.
"He has gotten stronger." Fenris murmured beside me. It is as if every obstacle is just a means for him to get stronger.
"Every time I see him, he is different."
Everyone spoke of his unbelievable strength. Even I started to think that he is an existence that is more than the world.
"You are my cousin," He said to Adoff.
"And for that reason, I will keep you alive. But you have to earn it and assure me that this will never repeat itself."
Adoff was unable to speak and I noticed how Khan spared most of the East's people but was merciless to the rogues. I ignored their talk to look for Javier but he was nowhere to be found. He must have run away with all the commotions. How could I have neglected him? I bit my lower lips as I was filled with anger.
"What are the conditions?" Adoff asked. I have very little interest in their talk because I needed to find Javier and I also don't want to disturb Phoenix about it.
"I will take Ralph inside." They made way for me and Fenris ordered two warriors to accompany me.
"I will also send some people to start looking for Javier. Khan's presence was so big that we all neglected our duties. We will find him and return the princess safely." Fenris assured me and I smiled.
Nothing beats having a family that supports you. My parents would be happy knowing the people I have come to call my family. I started to leave but stopped the moment I heard a gasp from the ground. I turned to see that Khan had bitten Adoff and that means that Khan has subdued Adoff and never will he ever again rebel against Khan. I left after watching Adoff fall on his knees, today he has learned a great lesson.
"We are sorry, we couldn't stop him." Nora and Cassie apologized and I waved it off. I am sure Ralph used his Alpha powers on them, they never stood a chance.
"Khan is awake now and the battle has ended. We won." I would have been ecstatic if my daughter is with me.
"That is good news, what about Rieka?" Cassie asked and I felt embarrassed to tell them she is still not safe. They started to console me but I stopped them because it wasn't what I needed right now.
"Take care of Ralph, I have to start looking for Javier and I hope he has not escaped far away."
"Why does he matter?"
I froze the moment I heard Khan's voice behind me. For someone that has loud footsteps and always fills the space with his presence, he sure does know how to be discreet.
"Phoenix."
I turned to him and tried my best to put on the most convincing smile. He narrowed his eyes at me as a warning to come clean and there is also no way he wouldn't get to know about it sooner than later.
"He kidnapped Rieka." I said.
"And that is why I have not felt or seen her." He was calmer than I expected and that is bad news. Khan's calmness is always hiding a powerful storm.
"So, you are now looking for Javier to tell me about my daughter's whereabouts?" I nodded frantically and I knew I must have appeared like a child because he scoffed.
"Have you tried contacting her as you did with me?"
I can't believe how soft I am standing in front of my Mate answering his question like I am just a worker. I didn't even notice how stiff I was standing and answering his questions. Unable to control my emotions, I started crying.
"Why are you crying?" He asked with a soft tone.
"I couldn't even protect our children, I even need Ralph to protect me." I replied in between sobs. He hugged me and consoled me by rubbing my back.
"You did your best, you took care of everyone. You took care of me even in my state and still did your best to remain the beautiful Jewel. Of course, it is Ralph's duty to protect everyone when I am away. Although I am the strength of Anu Ukwu Nation, you are what make the Nation home for us." His words helped and I wiped away my tears.
"Now, let us apprehend Javier and get our daughter back." Khan uttered.
"I hope she is alright." I muttered.
"Yes, she is alright." Ralph said as if it was the most natural thing to say.
"How did you know?" Khan asked.
"I can feel it, she is far away from here but I can feel her. I can take you where she is."
His words were the most unbelievable words I have heard in a long time, yet they filled me with hope.
